The hotel

No sooner have you stepped foot inside the Casa Madrona than you'll be embraced by the beauty and style of Sausalito with views across Richardson Bay and beyond always complimenting the refined sophistication of the hotel's intimate hillside setting. Breathtaking scenery aside, Sausalito is well-known as being a vibrant hub for artists and like-minded travellers with an abundance of stores, galleries and workshops adding to a charming seaside village atmosphere. A stunning choice of 64 guest rooms provides an elegant approach to life over the bay and if you're looking to rest and relax within classically styled accommodation, which includes state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings, then prepare to have all of your Californian dreams come true. The obvious comparisons to the glamorous resorts of the Mediterranean are endless, so, when in Rome, go Italian, and there's no better cuisine than at the Poggio Trattoria Restaurant which can be found just next door. Finally, the views, the food, the ambience, all add up to a superb slice of life close to San Francisco and if you're hoping to get fit or relax in order to take on those undulating streets then Casa Madrona's spa and fitness suite will have you pampered and ready in no time at all.

This was a fabulous trip in a fabulous location. Everything and everyone was quality and top class. Nothing was too much trouble and we really appreciated the extra mile the staff went to in order to help us. Mel deserves a gold star!

Casa Madrona overlooks the waterfront in Sausalito. It has good restaurants close by - try Poggio's next door! - and interesting shops around it for blocks. Our room was quiet - well-insulated from street noise (3rd floor) and noise from other rooms. Front desk staff were helpful. We greatly appreciated the chance to borrow an umbrella on our… Read more

Super nice hotel. Friendly employees. We had issues with our room heater but they made it right. The room and view were amazing. So glad we opted for this amazing hotel. We could walk everywhere we wanted to from the hotel.

I stayed there when there was the big storm Nadia. the faulty terrace door was blown open in the middle of the night and it took me and the hotel staff over 2 hours, using trash bag to hold the doors from being blown open again. Either front staff didn't relate the issue, or management decided to ignore it completely. I never received any gesture nor reach out from anyone in the hotel afterwards about the faulty door, disruption of my sleep! ( They did offer to change my room but who would want to move in the middle of the night?!) Even worse, the hotel ignored my 'do not disturb' sign I put on the door the following morning and went into the room without asking for my consent and fixed the terrace door. This showed they knew of the issue. I would have recommended the hotel and even come back but this lack of respect of guest condition and guest instructions from the management is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this calibre. Stay here at your own risk if you want your privacy Not to be respected, better check everything in the room works before you take the room. Read less
