Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa

Sausalito, San Francisco

The hotel

No sooner have you stepped foot inside the Casa Madrona than you'll be embraced by the beauty and style of Sausalito with views across Richardson Bay and beyond always complimenting the refined sophistication of the hotel's intimate hillside setting. Breathtaking scenery aside, Sausalito is well-known as being a vibrant hub for artists and like-minded travellers with an abundance of stores, galleries and workshops adding to a charming seaside village atmosphere. A stunning choice of 64 guest rooms provides an elegant approach to life over the bay and if you're looking to rest and relax within classically styled accommodation, which includes state-of-the-art fixtures and fittings, then prepare to have all of your Californian dreams come true. The obvious comparisons to the glamorous resorts of the Mediterranean are endless, so, when in Rome, go Italian, and there's no better cuisine than at the Poggio Trattoria Restaurant which can be found just next door. Finally, the views, the food, the ambience, all add up to a superb slice of life close to San Francisco and if you're hoping to get fit or relax in order to take on those undulating streets then Casa Madrona's spa and fitness suite will have you pampered and ready in no time at all.

Bathroom door wouldn’t close. We had guests coming over so this was not workable. When we asked for a room change they then told us there was a $100 dog charge and no alternative room was available. This had not been disclosed at time of reservation or at check in (we had our dog at the front desk at check in).

Fantastic local, great customer service and a beautiful hotel. We will be back. Beautiful room that was nicely finished that overlooked the bay. If you intend to stay in Sausalito this is the place to be.

Can't wait to return. Hopefully the grounds keeper across the street will not be blowing the parking lot for an hour. It was difficult to enjoy the balcony seating with coffee that morning. Enjoyed the beautiful room and the view. Will try the restaurant next visit.

This time 310 was not available this time, so I asked to see the other available Hillside Balcony rooms. Unfortunately, the receptionist was reluctant to let us see the other rooms, saying this is not usually done for guests. We had just come from the Claremont Club in Berkeley, where the manager was happy to show us multiple rooms. With every room being different, Casa Madrona should be more accommodating about showing guests different room options. We may have even upgraded if we saw a room we liked better than the two we were shown. Read less

We stayed at Casa Madrona Hotel at the recommendation of my daughter, who lives in Sausalito. The location was just perfect. Rooms were comfortable and the bed even more so. I must say that the staff made the trip. They were friendly and helpful....and always pleasant.
