This is a calm oasis close to the city. We spent five nights here this spring and we were very pleased with our choice to stay here rather than in the city. The room was very nice, both the layout and the cleanliness, and the view of the bridge from was just stunning. The athmospere at the hotel was so relaxed and nice. We will forever treasure the memories of us parents sitting on the porch, sipping on a glass of wine, while the kids were throwing frisbee on the lawn with the bridge as a backdrop. The staff was excellent and helpful. We had a little mishap with our car but the way the hotel dealt with the situation made it leave our minds fairly quickly. As for the things the hotel will offer you to do: We took a really cool car out for a spin and that was fun. We didn’t use the spa. The shuttle service was excellent. Had dinner in the bar 3 nights and were pleased with the food. Great walking trails around the hotel. What could improve? The service at breakfast could be faster. If you are going somewhere for the day it’s a bit bad that breakfast takes such long time. Great if you are just hanging out at the hotel but sometimes you want to get going for the day. There should be a pool! The only thing missing really. Both kids and adults would like that. Maybe some games to play? And possibility to make s’mores? But those are just small things, this is a great hotel! Thanks for a nice time! Read less

This place is close to being great...it really is. Pros: amazing location, lovely setting, rooms that are much nicer than the exterior of the buildings would have you believe. Cons: Service isn't 100% there. Ordered a burger, medium, from room service. I received a burger that was super-rare, cold fries...and no napkins or silverware. They… Read more

Cons: Service isn't 100% there. Ordered a burger, medium, from room service. I received a burger that was super-rare, cold fries...and no napkins or silverware. They were gracious enough to remove the burger from my bill. In addition, there was a significant stain on my comforter cover, and one of the two (!) fireplaces in my room seemed to run all night...on the hottest day we've had in the area this year. Finally, the hardwood floors in my room had definitely seen better days--though there were rugs covering most of the floor, the parts of the floor that were bare were badly in need of refinishing. Staff members that I spoke with were uniformly friendly. Read less

So near, yet so far away, Cavallo Point has exactly what we were looking for in a weekend away from home. While "location" is everything.....Cavallo Point also delivers on the perfect accommodation nestled in the heart of tranquility. Once we got to our room, the rest of our visit was utterly luxurious and stress-free. We had only two days, so our schedule was a bit more hectic with "sightseeing" than perhaps most people would attempt to do at this resort, but in lieu of spa time, we toured San Francisco, Sausalito, and hiked thru Muir Woods and still had enough time to relax and enjoy the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. We chose a contemporary outlying room with fireplace, deck, and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. There was still a chill in the air, so the fireplace was a welcomed treat. Everything in the room was perfect; comfortable bed, fully-adjustable blinds and windows, a soaking tub with exquisite Cavallo Point Signature Lavender & Eucalyptus products, a cozy window seat overlooking the view, and total peace and quiet in the California night air! Truly it was Heaven...and to think that we didn't even take advantage of the complimentary morning yoga, pastries & coffee, wine hour, or the walks right outside our doorstep! (next time) The Hotel was created out of historic Fort Baker, a former U.S. Army post. When you first enter the grounds, you are not only stepping back in time, but you are seeing before you a maze of buildings and pathways....it's a large complex! Check-in was not seamless, particularly with regard to the absolute necessity to avail of the valet parking in order to reach our specific accommodation with luggage. We tried ourselves and failed miserably, but once is was all sorted out, we found Valet Services to be excellent! A little more parking information upon check-in, would have been greatly appreciated. We did not dine in the Murray Circle Restaurant because we were out sampling local restaurants, but based on the prompt, pleasant service and quality of food delivered in-room for breakfast, it was delicious! I highly recommend Cavallo Point. It's a unique experience and we can't wait to retrn! Read less

This was the first stop on my honeymoon with my new wife. Having never visited San Francisco before, this was a fantastic location to see the city from afar and the Golden Gate bridge a stone's throw away. The room was beautiful with a great view over the local marina. There is a complimentary shuttle available into the city which my wife and I thought would be a shuttle bus and were shocked in awe as it was a personal complimentary taxi arranged by the staff - who are all super helpful and pleased to help with any queries we had. Would highly recommend this to friends and family if they were to visit San Fran as it was a perfect stay Read less
