While "location" is everything.....Cavallo Point also delivers on the perfect accommodation nestled in the heart of tranquility. Once we got to our room, the rest of our visit was utterly luxurious and stress-free. We had only two days, so our schedule was a bit more hectic with "sightseeing" than perhaps most people would attempt to do at this resort, but in lieu of spa time, we toured San Francisco, Sausalito, and hiked thru Muir Woods and still had enough time to relax and enjoy the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands. We chose a contemporary outlying room with fireplace, deck, and a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. There was still a chill in the air, so the fireplace was a welcomed treat. Everything in the room was perfect; comfortable bed, fully-adjustable blinds and windows, a soaking tub with exquisite Cavallo Point Signature Lavender & Eucalyptus products, a cozy window seat overlooking the view, and total peace and quiet in the California night air! Truly it was Heaven...and to think that we didn't even take advantage of the complimentary morning yoga, pastries & coffee, wine hour, or the walks right outside our doorstep! (next time) The Hotel was created out of historic Fort Baker, a former U.S. Army post. When you first enter the grounds, you are not only stepping back in time, but you are seeing before you a maze of buildings and pathways....it's a large complex! Check-in was not seamless, particularly with regard to the absolute necessity to avail of the valet parking in order to reach our specific accommodation with luggage. We tried ourselves and failed miserably, but once is was all sorted out, we found Valet Services to be excellent! A little more parking information upon check-in, would have been greatly appreciated. We did not dine in the Murray Circle Restaurant because we were out sampling local restaurants, but based on the prompt, pleasant service and quality of food delivered in-room for breakfast, it was delicious! I highly recommend Cavallo Point. It's a unique experience and we can't wait to retrn! Read less

This was the first stop on my honeymoon with my new wife. Having never visited San Francisco before, this was a fantastic location to see the city from afar and the Golden Gate bridge a stone's throw away. The room was beautiful with a great view over the local marina. There is a complimentary shuttle available into the city which my wife and I thought would be a shuttle bus and were shocked in awe as it was a personal complimentary taxi arranged by the staff - who are all super helpful and pleased to help with any queries we had. Would highly recommend this to friends and family if they were to visit San Fran as it was a perfect stay Read less

I was glad the Holiday Muse made the suggestion because it was a lovely stay. While a bit on the pricey side, it was still a pleasant get away from get away (the trip included a few days in different hotels around the City) . I felt like I was in a time warp, sent back to the classiness of the 1930's-40's America. The "backyard" acre-walks include historic details (in the form of local phone messages--brilliant!). The property seemed more adult-oriented, which was a good thing for us because we have no children, and it was quiet! The pool was heated and of zen-like quality and there are many photographic opportunities. The staff was friendly and if I ever return and can dabble a little financially, I will definitely be back! The dining experience was delicious, but they could have more vegetarian choices--It is California, for Pete's Sake! Read less

You can watch and smell the water- so lovely!! A wonderful place to walk and also to take your fur babies. There's is a huge meadow to play in also. The lodge is beautiful and a great place tho host a reception or large party. The rooms are pricey, but the experience is priceless!

We spent the week here for spring break and loved it! It’s such a low-key spot at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge; perfect for a visit to San Francisco with a family. We picked it due to its proximity to the city, but also for its tranquility. Easy to get into SF from the hotel, but far enough away to avoid the city noise and some of the other potential problems of being in downtown SF. Great breakfast each morning and a really friendly staff and concierge. Nancy watched the kids for us while we got out for an adult dinner, and they loved her. Highly recommend this place to any families visiting the Bay Area. Read less
