We stayed at the Americana for four nights with our family. The staff were helpful on arrival, and the rooms were well equipped, nicely decorated and pleasant all round. The beds were comfortable, shower pressure good and the room was big enough for a family of four. The hotel was located in downtown SF and easy to get everywhere on foot or by… Read more

The beds were comfortable, shower pressure good and the room was big enough for a family of four. The hotel was located in downtown SF and easy to get everywhere on foot or by bus. I can't really fault the hotel at all but be aware of the location where there are many homeless people nearby. It was unpleasant to witness their behaviour in the presence of children and made us feel a little unsafe. Read less

What a lovely surprise to find this beautiful retro stay online. Such an amazing deal and the whole location was friendly, helpful and so cute. Couldn’t have wished for more. Would definitely stay here again whenever I get the chance

We agreed to $159 per night and was charged $199 at checkout. The sink never drained from the first time I turned the water on. The toilet clogged early in the morning. The overnight parking was outrageously priced and I was charged twice.

We have just returned from a week long stay at the Americania. The hotel was clean, our room - a standard king was spacious and well furnished with a very comfortable, clean bed and pillows. The room had a coffee maker, and coffee is available free from the reception area each morning. All reception and housekeeping staff we encountered were polite and welcoming. We had an issue one evening with noise from the room above. Upon contacting reception, the matter was dealt with immediately and we heard nothing else all week. The hotel is a stone's throw from Market Street, the underground station and F line streetcars which link the city centre with Castro, the ferry building, embarcadero Promenade, Alcatraz cruises and Fisherman's Wharf bay front shopping and eating district. Macy's, Bloomingdale's and the Hyde and Powell cable cars are just a two block walk down Market Street. As per other reviews, homelessness and rough sleepers are a huge problem, and many congregate at the corner of Market and 7th. However, we never felt threatened or intimated by these people, but the city needs to take action. Read less

I had issues with the staff, given that they took the "hold" on the credit card 3 times and one still has not been refunded! I was not given a receipt even after i showed the staff member that i had 3 notifications of payment being taken. was charged again on de[arture even though the room was fully paid for by expedia and again the staff could not give two sh - its. very disappointing overall for what could be a great hotel. Food in the adjoining restaurant wasn't good. the breakfast was reheated omplette which wasn't reheated enough and was cold. much better (and cheaper) food across the street in the deli - bagels were great Read less
