We chose the Adagio because of it being part of the Autograph Collection and had a great experience. The front desk was very efficient and helpful. The room was across from the elevator, but we had no problems with either street or elevator noises all night. The front desk told us this was a quiet room and it was! The room itself was nicely appointed and very modern in terms of amenities. Great bedside stand with lots of outlets. There is no room coffee maker, so you go to the lobby. Bathroom was also bright and spacious for an older property. The lobby is also very nicely appointed. This was a wonderful place to stay on the spur of the moment for a fair price. Read less

I think I have spent more nights in this hotel, than anywhere else in the world outside of my bed at home. And for a reason. It's a beautiful hotel that's well kept, with great staff, choice of rooms, and location in San Francisco. And it always seems to have extremely competitive pricing. I think it's one of those hotels, where because it doesn't have amenities like a concierge lounge, or more than one small but excellent breakfast restaurant, they price it lower than some of the other fancy boutique hotels in the area. But I never feel like I'm missing anything. The facilities, including the gym are fantastic. And the hotel offers 7-day laundry service. The rooms are beautiful, with a unique but classy, modern style. The bathrooms are quite nice, a step up from your typical business travel hotel. Lots of plugs and outlets, a large TV, etc. The staff are always excellent (hey Etevise!) and it probably shows in the fact that many of them have been here for a number of years. I've never had an issue with the staff, and of course in all the time I've spent here at the hotel when I have had concerns, issues, and even once a missing car, the staff bent over backwards to resolve them. As for location, it's tenderloin adjacent, but don't worry about that too much. The area is actually quite interesting with a number of great bars and restaurants, and just a couple blocks eastward you're in union square. Go to PCH, Bourbon and Branch, Liholiho, and Kin Khao, to name a few. Read less

A very well located hotel close to Union Square and therefore great for tourists like us. The room was of good size abs very comfortable (although I wasn’t too thrilled to find a sock from the last guest!!!). Friendly staff and overall a good experience for the night we were here.

They've done a nice job with the property. It's a 100-year old building. The lobby is elegant, and our room was very nice and spacious. The hallway on our floor had an old, musty smell, but our room smelled perfectly fresh and clean. The front desk clerk was very nice and efficient. I would stay here again!

Overall I had a pretty decent stay at the Hotel Adagio this past weekend, although the outside of the hotel is beautiful, the area around the hotel is practically the border of the Tenderloin. Although the ongoing homeless problem in this part of town is disheartening, it’s really a bit offsetting when security is in front of every single hotel and liquor store on your way back from Union Square. PROS: Location (during the day), amazing customer service (basically everyone who I met seemed to really enjoy working there and I really did feel taken care of), old but modernized hotel that hasn’t lost the history of the building or interior, beautiful lounge/bar at The Mortimer, boutique hotel feel but still a part of Marriott Bonvoy. CONS: Location (any other time of day), dining is a bit limited as there is no option for lunch at the hotel and no mini fridge in the room. There is a very pricy snack bar fridge, but it would’ve been nice to have a normal one too, given no late night food options nearby or at the hotel. Second, although this is the designer’s fault, the bathroom in the studio room I had, and from what I saw online for other rooms too is really bleak; tan all around and a crummy shower tub combo. Not super luxurious, as you can find walk in showers/separate tubs even at some of the lower end Marriott brands :( Otherwise, it was a great stay and it’s really hard to try and not enjoy your time here. I always looked forward to retreating away to my nice hotel room to wrap up a long day/night out :) Read less
