Image of the Tripadvisor rating Marginal discount to the major hotel chains

The modest discount to the Hyatt and Marriott was not justified for several reasons. The King George is conveniently located a block from Union Square however 1) there is only 1 elevator shared by patrons and staff 2) there is no A/C in the room 3) hot water (sink and shower) is inconsistent depending on time of day 4) carpeted rooms and bathrooms… Read more

In summary, for another $25-30/night I’d encourage anyone to upgrade to one of the major hotels. Read less

I had been to the King George at least 20 years ago. Due to a last minute change in my business Itinerary, I looked for an affordable place to stay and a place I knew which was good! The stay was great. Location very good and Close to where I had to be for business. Hotel ambiance is ‘boutique’. Room is not large but sufficient space for one or… Read more

The stay was great. Location very good and Close to where I had to be for business. Hotel ambiance is ‘boutique’. Room is not large but sufficient space for one or two visitors with Luggage. I had a street-side room which is a bit noisy but not a big deal as it’s not a very busy street. There are rooms in the back that probably have less street noise. Reception is efficiënt. I was not provided with a whole lot of information upon check-in but when asking for eg. Breakfast i was given advice on where to go (as the hotel does not serve breakfast). Overall, nice to be back. My wife and I traveled to San Francisco for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted a well-located hotel in the city. Not one that was over the top with lots of additional services, which quite frankly you don’t utilize most of the time. This stay was part of a package offered with Virgin Holidays. I often do lots of research before arriving at a place and this was no exception. In fact, when we walked through the doors it did feel like I had stayed there before. With us being British we can’t help noticing the interior decor making a nod to our motherland. All done very tastefully. The staff were very pleasant and when we required additional help and room service they were attentive, and the service was prompt. Over the 5 nights we stayed we found the place to be clean and remained so with room service periodically visiting the room and refreshing the towels and other items. The room was quiet, and we slept amazingly well on the huge bed. The TV was fully functional and the shower perfect. What more could you possibly want? So, if you’re looking for a great location, oh did I mention the 24/7 diner next door? Then we can highly recommend the King George. Thanks for a great service. Read less

The room is equipped with many usb charging points which makes it perfect if you don’t want to be carrying adapters. The hotel is clean and the room theme is very quaint. The hotel staff are friendly and the location is perfect and in walking distance from everything you’d want to see. There is a diner next door which is reasonably priced and the food is good. There is also a 24 hour diner which does a great breakfast although be prepared the prices in the city are quite extortionate but this is a pattern throughout. Read less
