I can’t say enough great things about the staff at the Villa Florence. Mark Murphy and the entire team go out of their way to make you feel at home. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. It is a great location , quick easy walk to the convention center.

Boutique hotel?! People, let's get real. This is an old apartment building converted into a way over priced place to stay. “You can put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig,” as they say! Bed and pillows were cheap and really uncomfortable, shower pressure was non-existent and water got luke warm at best. BEWARE of hidden fees tacked on - over 80$ worth of fees a day including their "resort fee" of 30$ per day- what a joke. I asked what this specific fee included and the GM said it was for the bottle of water they gave us upon arrival as well as the "coupon for a free coffee". I suppose that resort fee also included the jackhammering and construction going on outside my window until 11PM, too?! Bring your earplugs because you hear EVERYTHING outside - construction, garbage trucks, people yelling...the website paints a very different image of the hotel - false advertising! Also, noticed a charge of $6.50 on my credit card - called to see what that was for and the girl said it was because I took something from the mini bar. Um, no. This place is a scam, do not stay here! Read less

Location is perfect for Union Square and bart access right at Powell Street. 1. Check in was ok and we were given a free beer, wine and Danish coupon which was nice IF we were able to use them. We were there for 1 night. 2. Room very small but it was clean. 3. Nice big tv probably about 55 inch which did not work. I called front desk and… Read more

We were there for 1 night. 2. Room very small but it was clean. 3. Nice big tv probably about 55 inch which did not work. I called front desk and they advised they would send some one up to check out. This was around 1845. We went to Concert and arrived back at hotel around 1045. 4. Bar was still open and hubby wanted to get his free beer. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't want the free wine. There were several customers in the bar finishing their drinks but he was told. Sorry! Bar is closed. How long does it take to pour a free beer in a to go cup if you are closed to appease the customer? 5. Made it back to room. Tv still didn't work. Made call again to front desk around 2300 and he once again said he would contact maintenance. Really? Its almost midnight. Advised him to just notate in his records that TV in room 316 does not work. No customer service and lacking communication. Checked out the next day and of course it was too late to use free Danish voucher. I would not stay again however location is perfect. Read less

We chose this hotel because of the location, near where we were attending a conference. You cannot get dropped off on Powell, so you'll have to run a gauntlet of sometimes aggressive homeless in order to catch your Uber on O'Farrell. The front desk clerks were nice, and check in was fine. I do not understand why we are charged a $29 guest amenity fee (+ a 14% guest amenity fee tax on top of that) for a hotel with no discernible amenities to speak of. The room seemed clean and looked nice, but once we turned on the air-conditioner we could not turn it off again. The linens were thin and I ended up sleeping in a sweater. The bathroom. Ugh. There is not enough room in the bathroom to change your mind. There is zero counter space because they chose to put in a wide pedestal style sink. I had to set my make up bag IN the sink in order to use items and see in the mirror at the same time. (FYI the lighting in the bathroom has a green tint to it - you're going to want to check your face near a window before leaving to make sure your make-up looks ok.) There are a few towel bars in the bathroom but only one hook. There is literally no place except for the closed toilet seat to place any of your clothing or personal items while you're using the bathroom. All that said, the people were pleasant, but they don't necessarily know what they're doing when it comes to guest experience and it seems that they are a little inconsistent about their policies and procedures. (ex: in the bar on a Tuesday they told someone they couldn't get a drink or food after 10, the next night we were told we couldn't get any food after 9:45 - it was 9:47 when we asked to order an appetizer...) I was traveling on business with my room being paid on a company credit card. I put my debit card on file for all other charges. They stated they would do a pre authorization of $100 no problem. Here's is how the charges happened. Day 1 $142.00 Day 2 $243.00 Day 3 $343.00. I checked out 4 days ago and am waiting for these to be removed from my… Read more
