Kimpton Palladian

Seattle, Seattle & Washington State

The hotel

Like a vintage Rolls Royce with leopard-print seats, the Kimpton Palladian delivers luxury with a brilliantly playful side. It’s location could scarcely be better – within walking distance of Pike Place Market and loads of great restaurants, bars and cafés. But such is this 1910 landmark’s hip-vintage design – check out the faux-classical portraits featuring Chuck Norris and other legends – and high-end amenities – the complimentary yoga mats are cool, and we love the speakeasy-style Pennyroyal lounge – that there’s a good chance you’re going to have to remind yourself to leave the Palladian at all. Be sure to raise a locally sourced libation at the daily Social Hour (5:00pm), and take advantage of the complimentary bicycle hire, too.

Perfect spot for seeing all the sights in Seattle and 2 mins walk to Pike Place Markets. Less than 15 minutes to most of what you would want to see. Hotel is boutique and quite quirky, in a good way. Good bar and restaurant too!

Excelent stay, close to all the downtown visitors points of interest, close to Pike's place market, close to pier, close to shopping malls. The front desk people were amazing, Julie and Alexa were more than courtious and great, acomodating all our requests and more. The room was clean, the beds very comfortable. I LOVE staying at Kimpton hotels. Seriously, they are the best at accommodating travelers, even if you pay a little extra for it. We started using Kimpton due to their pet friendly policy, but continue to use them even when we travel without our fur babies. I LOVE staying at Kimpton hotels. Seriously, they are the best at accommodating travelers, even if you pay a little extra for it. We started using Kimpton due to their pet friendly policy, but continue to use them even when we travel without our fur babies. We chose the Palladian over the other two Kimptons in Seattle due to its close proximity to Pike Place Market (5 minute walk) and Space Needle and Chihuly Garden (20 minute walk). There were a lot of really great places around this location! This particular Kimpton is unlike any other I have stayed it... the decor is modeled around famous leading men. We were lucky enough to share our bed (pillow) with Swayze haha. Of course, you have to love the guest happy hour (this one featured local wines and ciders, as well as a local whiskey and vodka) and some of the reward member offers like raiding the mini bar. Valet is a little pricey, but a given in a big city. The restaurant, Shaker and Spear, has great Yelp reviews, but we were unable to try due to time. I'd like to check them out if we stay again. My one small complaint was that the walls and door leading to the next door room were paper thin. Luckily, we had a corner room and only had to endure one night of neighbor noise, but I can imagine the annoyance of having a centralized room. Read less

Hotel is in a great location - a couple of blocks from the public market. Rooms very small, and paper-thin walls. We heard our neighbors pretty clearly through the walls. $42 dollar valet parking charge and $ 15-day "amenity" charge is a bit much considering the price of the hotel. Small and tight work out facility.

One thing is CERTAIN. Since selling out and becoming part of the IHG hotel group Kimpton has taken a HUGE leap backward. I have stayed at 3 Kimpton hotels so far this year. This was the best of the 3 but all were subpar by former Kimpton standards. The 4 star rating for this hotel is mainly due to the outstanding location. Without this happenstance of geography it rates 3 stars. Formerly unheard of for Kimpton. I stay in a lot of hotels. I have never been exactly sure what a boutique hotel is. I am sure this one is. The decor cannot be described as anything other than contrived. My room included a pillow with a photoshopped portrait of Brad Pitt in what looked like the outfit John Lennon was wearing on the album cover of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. (No I am not old enough to be a contemporary of that album.) There were similar photo shopped images of other celebrities and pseudo celebrities wearing anachronistic outfits on the walls and on other random hotel items throughout the “boutique”. I guess maybe if I had an art degree????...or a hash pipe. Ok, both of those would do the trick! The rooms were small. The lighting in the room was really cool looking but didn’t actually light anything. Unless you turned on the ultra-bright ceiling light which was so bright Brad Pitt started singing Beatles songs. Damn hash pipe! The staff were super friendly and very competent. But my hotel bill was full of errors. The hotel did not credit my points properly either. I had to call IHG and haggle with them for a protracted and completely unnecessary amount of time to finally get things right. Positives include windows that actually open! Clean room. No closet in mine but an adequate armoire. Nice bar in hotel. Did I mention the GREAT location? Valet service available but pricey. Room rates are not cheap. Contrived celebrity image boutiques have an image to keep up you know. Read less
