The Maxwell

Seattle, Seattle & Washington State

The hotel

Some places just stand out from the crowd — and The Maxwell is one of them. It could be the décor, with the understated red brick façade jazzed up inside with touches like a giant mosaic pineapple, sunglass-worthy paint choices, children’s art tiles around the indoor pool, and funky furnishings, like bright magenta pod chairs paired with lime green tables. Not just bold on the surface, it buzzes with a vibrant spirit, serves ‘Afternoon Delights’ in the shape of pineapple cupcakes, delivers a cool casual menu at Pineapple Bistro & Bar, and rents out vivid yellow beach cruiser bikes – ideal for trips to nearby landmarks like Seattle Center and Space Needle.

Have stayed here on multiple occasions for many years. Was a big fan of the Maxwell in the past, but no more. Service and staff competency has been sliding downhill slowly. One barista is slow and surly but the other is a sweetheart totally focused on the customer. Rooms are now shopworn, glassware has lipstick, and the “amenity fee” amounts to… Read more

Great location. Very comfortable beds. Very friendly staff. The "fitness center" is teeny tiny and not very useful. The wifi connection was spotty. The bar and bar food are really quite good. I will stay here again.

We were in Seattle for my birthday. Our stay was great. The friendly staff was very accommodating and just the slightest fragrance of pineapple was wonderful to me. Our room was lovely. We could see the Space Needle out our window. My husband and I fell inlove with the beding. I really liked the quirky art on the walls. It's nice to see artists… Read more

We could see the Space Needle out our window. My husband and I fell inlove with the beding. I really liked the quirky art on the walls. It's nice to see artists have recognition over just having replica paintings on the walls. Even though we don't currently have a dog, we noticed and loved their dog friendly policies. We had no trouble finding restaurants with-in walking distance, besides the the one that they have on location. We will be back... maybe on my next birthday:) Read less

Stayed here for 2 days when attending a job interview. The rooms are reasonable big but there are bare minimum amenities. Geographically the hotel is in a good location next to the Seattle center. However, the hotel is still best avoided, the hotel is too pushy from a sales tactic. For example, there are also lot of items for sale in the room. The room was paid by the company where I was interviewing for a position. The hotel added a mandatory amenity charge of 25$ for providing 2 bottles of water which was never disclosed. Avoid if you have a choice... Read less
