The Maxwell

Seattle, Seattle & Washington State

The hotel

Some places just stand out from the crowd — and The Maxwell is one of them. It could be the décor, with the understated red brick façade jazzed up inside with touches like a giant mosaic pineapple, sunglass-worthy paint choices, children’s art tiles around the indoor pool, and funky furnishings, like bright magenta pod chairs paired with lime green tables. Not just bold on the surface, it buzzes with a vibrant spirit, serves ‘Afternoon Delights’ in the shape of pineapple cupcakes, delivers a cool casual menu at Pineapple Bistro & Bar, and rents out vivid yellow beach cruiser bikes – ideal for trips to nearby landmarks like Seattle Center and Space Needle.

This is a really quirky and cool hotel and we enjoyed our stay. It’s a great location for Seattle centre and MoPop. Some good restaurants nearby. However the room rate is high for what you get and there is an amenity fee added to each night covering water, coffee, pool and Wi-fi. In most hotels these are included in the room rate. I think this would put me off staying with this chain in the future as other hotels are more flexible in this approach. Read less

Excellent facilities (especially the interactive wall- my wife now want ones!), great staff and very comfortable beds. As a family we visited the Needle, Gates foundation and very handy for access to the city (via the Monorail). My biggest complaint is that there aren't Stay Pineapples in every citywe want to visit (:-))

We arrived at the Maxwell after a long international flight. It is a really cool hotel and in a great location for exploring downtown Seattle. The staff were more than helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The Maxwell Hotel is close to the Seattle Center, where you'll find many great museums besides the Space Needle. A little further away is the History Museum, Lake Union and the Bill and Melinda Gates Discovery Center. Lots of places to walk too! We ate breakfast at the Mecca Cafe; a longer walk but worth it. The magic video screen in near the cafe in the hotel was a big hit, but the best thing is the mini pineapple cupcakes that are served every afternoon! Read less

We loved our stay at the Maxwell. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The front desk woman even had a sheet she made of all of the great restaurants in the area. We tried Toulouse Petit for brunch and it was AMAZING. The room was so nice, too! Amazing robes, bedding, TV, shower, everything! The only complaint we had was the coffee from… Read more

We tried Toulouse Petit for brunch and it was AMAZING. The room was so nice, too! Amazing robes, bedding, TV, shower, everything! The only complaint we had was the coffee from the place downstairs in the lobby. It was very watered down and didn't taste good at all. The room coffee was way better. Read less
