Omni Dallas Hotel

Dallas, Texas

The hotel

A boomerang-shaped hotel with an ever-changing LED light show, the newly opened Omni Dallas Hotel is 23 stories of glass, steel and stylish razzle-dazzle. It even glamorously had Larry Hagman and Linda Grey at the grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony! Sleek and modern on the outside and lit by neon-type horizontal lighting on each floor that is very cool. The public areas of the hotel are equally well done including numerous indoor and outdoor fireplaces and fire pits and some great added touches including unique art in the rooms that are all for sale. The best part about the Omni is its terrific rooftop infinity pool and bar. With soaring Dallas summer temperatures it is definitely the place to relax and take in spectacular city views. Sweeping views can also be enjoyed from the Mokara Spa which offers a full range of spa treatments including a special treatments where couples can unwind together in one of the deluxe couple’s treatment rooms. Morsels the coffee bar which includes Collections Gift Shop, is a fantastic showcase of art with an assortment of books and unique gifts to purchase. See if you can find the great colouring book for children and adults of the Nasher Sculpture collection!

A classy hotel for sure, but the pool is party central. If a lively, crowded pool (and hot tub) with lots of booze and drunk folks yelling, partying and getting romantic if the sort of thing you like, you will like this. It was elbow-to-elbow and a great people-watching experience, but not at all relaxing if you are not planning to party. The pool… Read more

If a lively, crowded pool (and hot tub) with lots of booze and drunk folks yelling, partying and getting romantic if the sort of thing you like, you will like this. It was elbow-to-elbow and a great people-watching experience, but not at all relaxing if you are not planning to party. The pool bar is great and the staff were friendly, there is also an outdoor grill with several food options. Didn't seem to matter what part of day you went, at least in the summer, it was always the party central. Some parent didn't seem to appreciate it. Just be aware if you bring the kiddos, you may not have as much space as you might at a Choice Hotel or Holiday Inn. These rowdy folks are also often noisy in the hallways at night. Front Desk says to call them but the issue would be over when they arrive. Definitely would if there was a long-lasting issue, I do feel they would resolve it. Coffee pods in the room were nice, but only two and one decaf. If you need more just call, fast service to get more. TV in the bathroom mirror (on some rooms) is very cool. Ice bucket is actually insulated, and you will still have ice in the morning (that never happens!). Beds comfy, pillows soft but flat. TV was big, giant windows were amazing as was the view. Get an upper floor for a great skyline at night. Staff running valet and room service do expect tips, so have some cash. Also, for valet you will need two tips, one for the driver and one for the person assisting with your luggage. The hotel was very fancy, the staff friendly and dining options (and room service) was done well. Maybe go in off-season for a more relaxing pool experience and less noisy residents in the halls? Great staff, rooms and Starbucks downstairs is a bonus. I didn’t have a great experience at Bob’s but the rest of the hotel was great. While elevators are quick, you have to insert your key- instead of swipe- each time. Push the close doors button to override the long wait. Spa also was good.

From the moment we pulled in the service was amazing. I can’t say enough about the valet. He always had a smile on his face and always opened my door. He was a wealth of information when we asked about places to go. The location of this hotel is perfect, it is in walking distance of many attractions and restaurants. This was my first time in Dallas and my first time at an Omni hotel. I was booked to stay at another hotel for 3 nights but my plans changed and I was arriving a day earlier than scheduled, so I booked Omni for my first night mainly because of the location and the pool. Upon arrival I was impressed at how large the lobby and public spaces are, very open and accommodating. Later I was told how the hotel hosts many large groups and is connected directly to the convention center. Kaylee at the front desk gave me a very warm and friendly greeting when I arrived on Thursday evening. When I was contemplating upgrading to a larger room with a soaking tub I talked with the manager Peter. Having worked in hotels for two decades in NYC I am happy to report that Peter is the cream of the crop when it comes to customer service, efficiency, and understanding guest needs. It was the conversation I had with him that helped me decide to upgrade and it also set the tone for my entire stay. Because of his suggestions and kindness I ended up canceling my stay at the other hotel and staying at Omni for all four nights. Thank goodness they had availability! The room was really terrific! It is on the end of the building and has rounded floor-to-ceiling windows in every room, and the bathroom is glamorous and the tub is big and has a great view! I couldn't have been happier. It seems that everyone here knows what they are doing and can accommodate any request quickly and efficiently. My one complaint is that they do not have regular attendants at the pool deck so things got a bit messy and crowded on a sunny afternoon due to towels, plates, glasses and other refuse being left behind by guests and not cleaned up. Other than that I give this hotel an A++. Read less
