The hotel

The ageless and the contemporary combine effortlessly at this superb hotel, boasting some of the most breathtaking views around! As you gaze out of big picture windows, the iconic formations of the world famous Mittens stand before you in timeless beauty. Designed with respect for its sacred setting, ‘Green’ building standards and environmentally friendly procedures are very much the order of the day. Facilities include a very welcoming lounge in which to enjoy a drink or two and the View Restaurant, run by five star Navajo chef, MacNeal Crank. Sit back and relax over sumptuous cuisine, combining Navajo and American influences, often to the strains of flute music, courtesy of a local musician. Another highlight is the Monument Valley Trading Post, a gift shop offering an incredible range of Indian Arts and Crafts, including one of the largest Navajo rug collections in the world, so make sure there’s room in your suitcase for a few holiday souvenirs!

I recommend this hotel 100% and compared to motels ive stayed in this was above standard by far. Read less

As its name suggests the views from the hotel rooms and restaurant are spectacular. The payment in advance policy and the fact that it's the only hotel made me a bit nervous but everything was fine. A tiny bit pricey, but worth it.

I was really impressed by the professional way this hotel is run, given that it’s independent and has little nearby competition. It was so clean, so well kept and the room we had was spacious. The balcony views can’t be beat. I loved the Keurig with Starbucks k-cups. Our stay came with a gift certificate for the attached gift shop, which we were… Read more

The balcony views can’t be beat. I loved the Keurig with Starbucks k-cups. Our stay came with a gift certificate for the attached gift shop, which we were excited to use. There’s a complimentary continental breakfast that was perfectly acceptable for us — hot oatmeal, cereals, pastries, yogurt. I highly recommend staying here! Read less

We stayed here for one night. We arrived just after lunch and did a wonderful driving tour around the rock formations, with lots of photo stops. The sun sets early in November, so gorgeous colour changes as we drove back to the hotel. The sun sets early in November, so gorgeous colour changes as we drove back to the hotel. We found our 2nd floor room to have a great view, and it would have been lovely to sit on our balcony with a glass of wine and soak it all up, never mind a cup of tea sufficed! ( BYO kettle etc!). The decor of the rooms and lobby reflects the Navajo culture, as does the fairly ordinary food in the restaurant. Read less

If you enjoy desert scenery this is the hotel for you. Each room is facing what is probably one of the most famous landscapes in the United States. The hotel has a fantastic lobby, a restaurant and large gift shop. Since this is an Indian Reservation they do not serve alcoholic beverages in the restaurant. I don't know if it's allowed but I would bring what I wanted with me the next time, there is a refrigerator and microwave in each room. I was alone on this trip so I spent two days and that was enough to see the park from the 17 mile road. If it had been warmer and I was with someone I would have spent more time possibly taking a horseback trip into the interior. There is nothing else to do here so plan how much time you want to spend accordingly. Remember this is in North Arizona and the weather can change quickly. The forecast when I left was 6-12 inches of snow, ice and high winds. Read less
