We had the good fortune of a recent stay at The View Hotel. The monuments endure these challenging times. The West was incapsulated by photos of Monument Valley, yet it is a hidden gem few rarely get to experience. We had looked forward to exploring this area, and with the reopening of the View, we finally had the chance to have our adventure. The hotel staff was friendly, competent, and well versed in Covid-19 protocol. The landscape could not disappoint; incredible views and stargazing. Although I don’t consider myself a morning person, we enjoyed sunrise immensely. We had our coffee in hand, watching the light move across the valley, highlighting the sandstone towers. It was as though we had stepped into another time, a surreal place. Due to stringent Covid restrictions by the Navajo Nation the park itself was closed, so we did not make the valley drive, yet we found plenty of sightseeing. It was a peaceful retreat; the room was cozy; the lodge architecture fit into the landscape and it was decorated with beautiful artwork. We found the history and Navajo culture quite fascinating. There’s tons of exploring to do in this rugged land, so buck up and get there, Pilgrim. Read less

This time we stayed in the cabins - for the cabins I highly recommend the rimview - the first row of cabins on the rim because if you are in the 2nd row then those cabins will dominate your view. This time we stayed in the cabins - for the cabins I highly recommend the rimview - the first row of cabins on the rim because if you are in the 2nd row then those cabins will dominate your view. That said, staying anywhere on this fabulous property is worthwhile, even if it's a room in the hotel without a view (where I've also stayed as well as with a view). Personally I highly recommend staying at LEAST one if not two nights so that you can soak up the ambience and breathtaking views. Take the .7 mile mesa rim view short trail (same trail head as Lee Cly trail) on the northeast side of the hotel - no one seems to know about it. Or try the Wildcat trail between the cabins and hotel. We stayed this time in April 2021 before the main park (hiking, tours, restaurant) opened but it was fine because we had the place to ourselves. We stood in one of the charming cabins this time however the hotel rooms have an excellent “View” to enjoy with coffee from balcony. The park is closed for up close viewing but the views from the hotel are serene and rejuvenating. It was a nice time to come during this time COVID because it can be full of tourist but we felt like we had the area to ourselves. We prepared our cooler with snacks and simple foods to enjoy a long easy weekend just watching the untouched land without going out the ground. The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is very clean and following strict COVID protocol. Thank you The View Hotel for opening up during these rough times for business and allowing a small group in to enjoy the grounds and hotel hospitality. Read less

Luckily we were able to book a room but were a little disappointed that the park was not open. Well, we were very surprised with “the view” from our hotel room! The room had a gorgeous view of The Mittens and was a beautiful backdrop to our peaceful weekend. The hotel felt very “covid safe” and was not crowded or busy. The restaurant was not open but we brought our own food so that we would not have to leave the hotel. Our weekend really felt like a retreat! We left feeling renewed, and decided that we will need to come back and spend more time in this beautiful part of the country! Read less

This hotel property is definitely a must stay! When me and my husband arrived the staff was very friendly and informative, they wore masks and clearly explained their guidelines, procedures and all of the necessary safety precautions they have taken to keep us safe. We felt safe and at ease, especially since we have not traveled to a destination in over a year. With knowing that the park and valley were closed to visitors before hand, we still took a chance and made the trip. Once we settled in and took in the breath taking views. We quickly had a sense of peace and appreciation for our surroundings. No crowds and no waiting to view their amazing look out points! We felt like we had the property to ourselves. The Restaurant was closed but the staff directed us to a restaurant and gas station 10 minutes down the road. A little out of the way but we were just happy to be able to visit the Hotel and take in the view. Read less
