Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, Utah

The hotel

Living up to its location, Hotel Monaco’s as dramatic inside as Salt Lake City is outside. Unapologetically decadent, and just on the right side of wild, its daring colours and patterns, plush furnishings, and complimentary Wine Hour welcome you back each night, whether you’ve been hitting the nearby slopes, hitting the free 24-hour gym, or just hitting the world-class shops and sights a stroll away. After the wine, you can slink off to The Vault – a den-style lounge with a creative cocktail list and bar menu. If you’re after something more substantial, Monaco Hotel’s Bambara restaurant mixes a casual bistro vibe with refined New American creations – all in the unique surrounds of an old Continental Bank lobby, complete with its historic arched windows.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating $38 in room movie charge

Mar 14, 2020 FrequentCAT Toronto, Canada

We checked out and when we arrived home we saw a charge on our room for $38 to watch a movie. Are you kidding me? I called and the response was "It's not us. It's a 3rd party company." Are you kidding me. There's no such thing as a 3rd party company to a customer. It's all Kimpton. Kimpton contracts with the 3rd party company, not me. Take… Read more

Take ownership Kimpton and stop this robbery from happening. (after protesting the client service person took the $38 off my bill but didn't seem o get it). Read less

The room was in the old style of hotel, but with updated bathroom. Suite was cozy and quiet. Fine place to stay, but only because there were no events at the near by arena. I imagine it would be very loud from street noise during games. Restaurant in hotel was incredible - a welcome surprise. We had our dog with us and they served us in tables… Read more

Turned out to be a nice little concierge service. Both Jacob and Carl were wonderful and attentive. The valet parking prices are a bit steep - with no other real options and the rooms are closer to a “boutique” experience - but everything is well done and I really enjoyed my stay. I’m so glad Kimpton is part of IHG! Read less

The Kimpton Monaco is comfortable but in need to updating. Rooms are relatively large but furnishings and services are behind the times for a hotel that seeks to compete with others in the surrounding area. These deficiencies are reflected in the price so if it is a price for services trade-off that one seeks, it works.

Xander is the kindest front desk o person I have ever met. When we arrived we had some sad news and he went above and beyond with a handwritten note and chocolates. I hope everyone gets a chance to meet him. Thanks Xander :)
