Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City, Utah

The hotel

Living up to its location, Hotel Monaco’s as dramatic inside as Salt Lake City is outside. Unapologetically decadent, and just on the right side of wild, its daring colours and patterns, plush furnishings, and complimentary Wine Hour welcome you back each night, whether you’ve been hitting the nearby slopes, hitting the free 24-hour gym, or just hitting the world-class shops and sights a stroll away. After the wine, you can slink off to The Vault – a den-style lounge with a creative cocktail list and bar menu. If you’re after something more substantial, Monaco Hotel’s Bambara restaurant mixes a casual bistro vibe with refined New American creations – all in the unique surrounds of an old Continental Bank lobby, complete with its historic arched windows.

Checked into what I thought would be a wonderful hotel to enjoy Salt Lake City and see Sir Elton John. From Valet, to check in things went horribly wrong. Room service was also very trying to say the least. The in room dining staff made me sign a receipt before delivering what I had ordered. Odd to say the least. He said he would hurry. I let him know we were scheduled to attend a show, Sir Elton John and he needed to be prompt. I was still confused as to why he did not bring the ordered items with him in the first place. Needless to say, we missed the show. So that was a waste. Later we ordered another meal. The chicken was over cooked and we had to wait almost 2 hours for it. The kicker you ask? The in room dining staff member “accidentally” charged me almost two thousand dollars for said horrible sandwich. One of the guest services staff refunded it and said she would remove one of my billed nights stays. At checkout, they recharged me for the credited night. Ohh, they never restocked the in room “honor bar” so each day I was charged for the items they never replaced. So make sure you look over your bill closely. Salt lake has many other fine hotels with more punctual and polite staff. Also, park city is not far away. This stay at Hotel Monaco was an eye opener. I will not be staying there again and suggest you heed my advice! Cheers! Read less

The service at this hotel was consistently beyond expectations from door and bell personnel, front desk, and room service. Very well-done immaculate room with interesting decor, not the standard hotel room. Really appreciate the pet-friendly policy as well. Great restaurant downstairs as well!

For the price, this is at best a mediocre room.....location good, central to everything you might want to walk to. Room small, bed ok. I enjoy boutique hotels, but this one has been the most disappointing I've been to in a long time. Hotel bar expensive....staff friendly.

Nice quiet hotel in perfect location. We enjoyed walking in the area of the hotel, shops, restaurants, coffee shops. Also close to small mall. Clean rooms, comfortable beds. Bambara is a excellent restaurant in the hotel.

I love to visit Kimpton Hotels because they are so cozy, comfortable, and have great amenities. One is that you can use their bikes to explore the downtown area, for free! Now it's hard to get them because everyone wants to use them so of course it is first come first serve. The location of the hotel is near a lot of landmarks and nearby eateries, so if you do not like to drive, then don't worry! I'm a big lover of room service, because sometimes after a long day of travel, I don't want to go anywhere else. I just want to go to the room and eat. Plus it's rather late and a lot of places in SLC, close pretty early. Their room service offers a variety of tastiness ranging from healthy to comfort food. If you sign up for their rewards program, you will also get a certain amount of money that you can use for a free item from their very well put together goodie bar. The beds are so comfortable allowing you to gain a good night's rest, and the best thing is that I don't hear anything from any other guests. I sometimes think I own the joint because I never hear or see anyone. Well, except for the happy hour that is held during the evening. They are serving wines and appetizers, while you can network with other guests. I met a few really cool people who became great acquaintances. I will always stay here each time I come to SLC, and if you guys need a blogger, I'm your lady! Read less
