This is a review of a family stay at the resort. I stayed at the resort before and really enjoyed it so when I learned that the resort is allowing families this summer I decided to give it a try. We stayed in a one bedroom villa. The room was spacious and very comfortable. There is a small refrigerator, stove, microwave, sofa, fireplace, washer and dryer and a full bathroom in the living room area. The bedroom had 2 queen beds, a small refrigerator, coffee machine and a very nice and spacious bathroom with a tub, a shower, 2 sinks and a separate toilet. There were even bath rugs on the floor. All you were missing for a home-like feeling is a scale. The villa is located next to a pool. It was very hot and the pool was relatively empty. It felt good to soak in the water. When you come with a family you cannot get the full package so everything is a la carte. The restaurant offers kids meals. It is $8 for the kids for breakfast or lunch and $10 for dinner. There is also a counter where you can buy smoothies and a few other snacks. We had dinner at the restaurant a couple of nights. The bread was very good. The entrees for adults range from $18 to around $30. Entrees come with soup and either antioxidant or house salad. They had minestrone soup one night and butternut squash soup on another night. Deserts are around $8. The cherry cobbler with ice cream was delicious. The resort offers private hikes for families for $250. We went on our own to Scout Cave, you can walk there from the hotel and there is signage so it is not too difficult to follow. I recommend leaving early. On another morning we drove to Kolob Canyons (around 30 minutes drive), it is part of Zion National park, and unlike Zion it is not crowded. We did the 5 mile scenic drive and then the one mile hike, it was beautiful. Another family went on the dinosaur guided hike through the hotel and said that it was fabulous. The guide used to be a special Ed teacher and was very good with kids. So if you bring kids you wake up early, you can buy ingredients in town to prepare breakfast, then go on an early morning hike. When you return you could spend a couple of hours at the pool, lunch prepared at your room or walk to the restaurant or Uber eats. Surprisingly, there was a good number of options on Ubereats snd it was easy to meet the driver; we ordered crepes from the Creperie and tacos from Lupita Mexican food and both were good. It would have been great if the hotel offered poolside food service, we would have much rather do that. After spending time at the pool you could take advantage of the free bike rental or go to town if you have a car. The hotel offers transportation only to the airport and back so a car really helps (when I tried to check an Uber to town was $25 and you have to wait for 20 minutes). In town there is a children’s museum, splash pad, you can take a leisurely walk around the desert gardens (and it is free), dinosaur museum, and a variety of other activities. We enjoyed eating dinner at the resort’s restaurant. The kids menu has coloring activities for the kids and they give out crayons. After dinner you can walk to the lobby area and ask for smores ingredients. The kids had a great time making s’mores although it was so hot outside. There was also mist coming from the roof of the lobby area, which was nice given the heat. After eating marshmallows you can walk down to the meditation circle and ask your kids to think of an issue while walking in circles. Since you likely want to wake up early for a hike you want to put the kids to sleep relatively early, but you could watch a movie in the room (bring DVDs, there are no kids channels on TV). It was very very hot when we were there and that made the experience less pleasant than it could have been. I think that the hotel could add more kids activities such as movie nights, game room, poolside food service would be great. I hope that the hotel offers this option to families not only in the summer. Though I would definitely separate families from other guests not to disturb other guests’ tranquility experience. We were so disappointed in this resort. Although its in a beautiful setting, the service is sub par. Some of the employees were excellent and some were exactly the opposite, This happened in the restaurant, at the concierge desk and with housekeeping. The cups in our room (for coffee) had gross dirt in them and clearly had not been cleaned! That was shocking. When I asked for fresh replacement cups, the new cups came dirty as well! (There were 2 dirty and 2 clean). Things only got worse from there. The fireplace spontaneously came on in the middle of the night ! That was eerie and a safety issue. Then at 5am, we were awakened by pounding above us. This turned into stomping…we hoped it would subside but it didn’t. Finally my husband walked outside and looked up, and the woman above us was doing some exercise video in her room. This was a mere 1/2 hour b4 the gym opened at 6am. She couldn’t wait? When I called the front desk, they were not helpful and seemed to register no concern. I thought maybe the woman above us was a celebrity who they didn’t want to disturb with our trivial needs. It was honestly the worst customer service experience we ever had at a resort. We left the resort by 7am and the guy at the front desk, who said he was a manager, had zero skill at communicating with this unhappy guest. At one point, he tone policed me saying “Watch your tone”…..wow! This behavior is unacceptable We are not at a church camp! Meanwhile they had already charged my account at 3am, long b4 the 7am checkout. I contacted them several times asking for a refund, and finally I tracked down the manager. She eventually gave me a $200 credit for the night after much defensive behavior. We’ve been to most of the very nice spa resorts and this one is nothing like those. Of course we will never go back and I don’t recommend you go here either. Read less

We had a wonderful stay at Red Mountain Resort. I have read some of the harsher reviews and I think it is important to understand that this is not Miraval or Canyon Ranch. If I had to compare this hotel to anything, I would say it is a smaller more laid back version of Enchantment Resort in Sedona. We had an ala carte rate, so I do not know what activities would normally be included in the room rate. One other thing to consider – this hotel only accepts children in the Summer. This was perfect for us as we used the hotel as to explore Zion National Park on the first leg of a Southwest National Park Tour. However, if I was a normal spa guest coming in the summer, I think my experience would be different than if I stayed at this hotel at nay other time of the year. Room: We rented a one bedroom villa which had a large living area and a washer/dryer. The room was on the first floor and we had no issues with noise. It was great because we could easily access the pool from our back patio as the villa buildings all surround the villa pool. Location: The resort is in a suburb of St George and it was easy to get into town by car. The resort backs up to a state park, so there is ample hiking and biking. There is also a fire pit and some nicely appointed sitting areas at the reception building. Unlimited Water bottles are available at reception. Restaurant: We did not eat at the restaurant. Pool: There seemed to be many complaints about no food and beverage service at the pool, but this is not that type of hotel. This is not a large luxury hotel, it is a small boutique spa/lifestyle resort. The pool is small and well maintained and not intended to be a full service amenity. There were always ample towels, chairs and umbrellas. Staff: The staff was friendly and accommodating, we felt welcomed. I left something at the hotel and they offered to send it to the next hotel, which was greatly appreciated. COVID 19 Housekeeping: My only gripe about this hotel (and from what I can see – all Utah hotels) is they will not clean your room during your stay. They will deliver toiletries and towels, but there is NO housekeeping services. To be honest it feels like the hotels are very slow to resume full services rather than doing it for any real COVID reason as the rest of the state appears to be back to normal (masks are not required and it seems as though restaurants and all other reservices are operating at full capacity). It is unclear at this point why the hotel has not resumed full housekeeping services. Read less

Where do I start? 1. Had to get water at dinner because THERE IS NO SERVICE in the restaurant. 2, Have to wait in line to get a table FOR THE BUFFET. I mean, why? 3. Excursions for morning hikes are "full" when we tried to sign up. WHY? 4. Wanted to go kayak and that was also full. 5. They don't clean the rooms or change towels… Read more

Excursions for morning hikes are "full" when we tried to sign up. WHY? 4. Wanted to go kayak and that was also full. 5. They don't clean the rooms or change towels unless you ask. 6. My daughter has a food allergy (allergic to dairy) and the food is NOT labeled and the staff just doesn't care if asked if there is dairy in in a salad. 7. I don't eat meat (but I do eat fish, tofu, etc.._). NO OPTIONS AT LUNCH FOR ME unless I want to eat lettuce and baked beans. 8. The consierge (when we check in) was surly and completely unhelpful. Just one word answers to questions, no suggestions, etc... WHAT DID WE DO TO HER? Then the consiege is off at 6 pm (although you can text). Place stinks. Is overpriced. They don't try to serve the guests. They just don't care about the guest experience. Not worth the money, or really the money at 1/3 the price. AVOID AVOID AVOID Read less

Agree with other reviews - be sure to avoid lower floor rooms - go second floor or better yet a villa. The restaurant food was good (tofu meal was excellent) and serving size correct. Restaurant service was 1 star miserable (at dinner) but weekend musician was very good. Spa fully booked (or employees limited) so I only had one spa experience. Pools okay but so hot poolside … and no drink service of any kind. Snow canyon hikes or bicycling early morning would be best recommendation. No employee wore a mask - yet they have no room service due to COVID. Service was a real disappointment top to bottom. Canyon Ranch and Miraval much better (but my experience there is prior to COVID). Good luck. Hopefully it is all a post-COVID hiring problem and service will improve. Read less
