A solo adventure is often touted as the way to travel if you want to find yourself. I hopped on a plane to Red Mountain Spa seeking enlightenment. An option not to be missed is the Zion hike. The connection to nature helped to awaken my senses and induced an inner calm. The climb was arduous, and the challenge of the hike resonated with my quest for adventure. Despite the inclement weather (cold and sometimes raining), the magnificence of this sanctuary is breathtaking. Make sure to get some photos to memorialize the picturesque landscape. Sandstone Spa has top notch treatments and aestheticians. I signed up for the Turquoise Sage and Salt Glow, Seasonal Pedi, Eyebrow Shape/tint, the Red Rock Hiker's Massage and the Intensive Age Defying Hydrating Facial. Massages are known to improve circulation, and to reduce stress. The relaxing sensation during the 80-minute massage felt transcendent (thank you Trevor) My villa in the Owl building was spacious and conveniently located across from the Wellness/Fitness Center. I did a variety of classes, including Core, Meditation, and MELT. MELT is a unique class which uses small balls to massage the pressure points of your feet and hands. It reduces muscular soreness, joint pain, and eases chronic neck and back pain. Breakfast and lunch are generic buffets, so I savored the dinner table service. I especially liked the salmon tacos, which are accompanied by black beans and Mexican street corn. The swordfish was served with arugula and three shrimp on top, accompanied by a baked potato. It was a culinary delight. I tried an Elk steak one night, which was plated with mashed yams, and green beans with bleu cheese. I'm a spa junkie, and I found Red Mountain Resort to be an ideal destination to escape your routine and to focus on self-care. The staff are all eager to make your stay enjoyable. The atmosphere is Zen. You can do as much or as little as you choose without judgment. As I reflect on my four days at the spa, I realize what a respite it was from cooking meals, and I can't remember before RMR when the last time was that I read in a hammock or lounged by the pool. My solo time at the spa gave me an opportunity for introspection and a fresh perspective to deal with life's challenges. Breathe, make time for yourself, and let your stay here be a pause from your routine. Namaste. Read less

Like others haven mentioned after 8 pm the restaurant is closed and you will have to drive into St. George for a meal. The resort did drive us in one evening and we were able to get an Uber back, so that is an option. Our friends were in the suites which are large, but do not have a full size coffee maker. The pool and hot tub also close at 10 pm and they are strict about this. We did have dinner at the restaurant , staff were exceptional and the food is really good. We also used the free bikes and rode them to Snow Canyon ( just a note the way in is ALL up hill ) We did not use the spa services so can not comment on that. All extra activities come with a price tag, we did use the fitness center for free and it is well kept with everything you need for a great workout. All in all a nice get away. Read less
