It was for the same number of nights in the same week and some of the dates were the same. The person who did it on the phone made a point of telling me that usually they would charge a $50 cancellation fee because it was considered a cancellation, but that she would not charge it. There are several issues with this. I understand that they charge a $50 CANCELLATION fee. Why would they charge the fee when someone is simply CHANGING the dates? Regardless of the cancellation policy, why would she even mention it - like she was doing me a favor. I found that whole experience dealing with her on the phone very strange. I am extremely uncomfortable about what to expect when we get there based on the mixed reviews I'm reading. Read less

The food selection and quality also top notch. The spa was wonderful, resort beautiful but the outdoors and the setting of the facility is just breathtaking. The thing that sets this place apart is the outdoor activities. The morning hikes, sunset hike to Camelback and all the activities in between were challenging, beautiful scenery, great guides and good company. I went alone and I wouldn't hesitate to go back alone. I met very interesting and fun women at the community table which had lively discussion each night about the days activities. This was my first trip to SW Utah and I'll be back for sure! Read less

When I checked into the resort on the first day, it did not look like my room had been vacuumed, and the sheets were wrinkled and I actually brushed dirt off of them. The next day, I left a $20 tip and a note asking housekeeping to please change the sheets. By 5:30 that evening the room still hadn’t been cleaned. I called the front desk and asked if the rooms were cleaned every day...they said yes, and when I told them mine had not been the response was “do you want it to be?” (What?!!) I said “yes, please”. When I returned later the bed had been made but the sheets were still not quite pristine and the floor had not been vacuumed. The towels had been changed, but the tub and shower weren’t touched. On the 3rd day, hoping for the best, I went about my day...once again, by 6:00 that evening it STILL wasn’t cleaned. I went to the front desk and complained about the sheets etc. The gentleman at the front desk was apologetic and sympathetic and said he would take care of it. Housekeeping finally came and she was apologetic and explained that she never changed the sheets, because she didn’t know someone new had checked in. (WHAT?!!!) Was I sleeping on someone else’s sheets? GROSS! I returned to the front desk, disgusted and upset. Again I got an apology and a promise for compensation (I hadn’t felt the need to get anything extra from the resort, but at this point I felt it was deserved). All of the relaxation I had come to Red Mountain for had now disappeared replaced by the stress of knowing that I had been in an unclean room. The general manager called to ask me what had happened, and her response was “I believe you” (was I telling a story?), “the night housekeeper didn’t know what was going on” (huh?), and “mistakes happen”. She certainly made the situation worse. They compensated me one night. As far as the rest of the resort goes, the hikes are nice, the guides and instructors are good, but if you’re going to go, maybe bring your own sheets...and Clorox wipes. Read less

I spent 3 nights with a friend in early May. Had a good experience overall. The staff really tries to keep guests happy. It started with John who picked us up from St George's airport. He made an effort to remember our names and answered our questions. He also brought our luggage to our rooms. We received 2 refillable water bottles on arrival and a bag. The single room is fine, it is not fancy and a bit dark and I wouldn't want to spend too much time in it but there is no reason to spend time in the room unless you are not well. I would have liked more room in between the door and the bed. There is no chain that you can use to lock the door. There is a tub, which is nice. There is a lighted mirror that you can leave on at night if you need to get up to use the bathroom. There is no laundry bag in the room but the front desk has bags if you need them. There is free washer and dryer in the building and detergent in the room. Breakfast starts at 6:30. The endurance walk starts at 7 and you need to eat breakfast quickly. Starting breakfast at 6:15 would have been nice, especially for guests who arrive from the east coast. Food is good and sometimes even very good. Wait staff is not the best but they try. Breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is served. They had the same salad bar for lunch every day but the entrees changed. Coffee is good. Juices are included with your meal if you ask for them. Breakfast has eggs, cereal, muesli, oatmeal, potatoes, meat, bread. Not a lot of variation but more than enough food. The salad bar for lunch has chickpeas, beets, cauliflower, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms, seeds. One day they served quinoa, turkey and beef burgers. On another day they served chicken shawarma, falafel, eggplant. The chicken shawarma was excellent. I haven't been as impressed with the dinner. They offer a vegetarian option, steak, chicken and fish daily. The fish I tried was dry. You are better off getting chicken or steak. You can ask for yam or baked potato with your meal. For dessert there is a nice berry plate, or small cookie or ice cream or sorbet. I was surprised by the amount of food that they offer. I thought that food will be low calorie and not abundant. They display the calories on items and it is up to you to eat healthy. We joined the community table and really liked that. The downside of the community table is that they sit people inside. I think that guests could benefit from having one community table outside and one inside. There are three levels of morning hikes. Explorer is for the least experienced hikers, challenger for more experienced hikers and endurance for fit people. The guides are very good. We tried all three hikes and have not found them to be that much different, but perhaps I slowed the endurance group down. The big difference to me was that after the explorer hike I was able to take fitness classes, but that's not the case with the challenger and the endurance hikes; you feel like you want to relax after those walks. If I had to do it again I would only do the explorer hikes to take advantage of the fitness classes. I liked the melt and NIA classes the best. The quality of the class depends on the instructor. There is a class after the walk and several classes in the afternoon. I would try to maximize the stay by arriving early the first day. You could rent a bike for free from the outfitters store to explore the nearby Snow canyon. I would have liked to watch a welcome video on arrival. I felt like I had to talk to repeat guests to get information. For example, a video on hiking safety for people who are not accustomed to hikes. An explanation about the hike levels and what you can expect to do the rest of the day if you go on a more challenging hike. Also information about overexertion and dehydration. We heard from one of the guests that on her trip to Mt Zion someone slipped and broke her arm and hit her head. We asked about accidents and we were told that they happen but not too often. Most guests are women but you see a man every now and then. Read less

The views are awe-inspiring, the food is delicious and healthy, and the staff are outstanding. John remembered my name after seeing me only once. Matthew was very understanding with my losing my room key, repeatedly. I might suggest a refurb on the rooms, which are starting to look a little worn, but otherwise, it was wonderful. I will be coming back again and again. Read less
