It was ok. We expected more for the cost. The room was small and the hallways were dated. No breakfast was included. We really missed having a buffet! The hotel is close to the highway and there was some noise from it. Customer service was very good though!.

I think 3 things are critical to a hotel stay so always prioritize reviewing the property location, a good night's rest, and a good morning shower: LOCATION: 3.5/5. Right off the road next to a big muddy lot where they are putting in some kind of building, nothing in walking distance. 5-miles/ 10 minute drive to Monticello, 2.5 miles / 6-7 minute drive to downtown pedestrian downtown area. SO, you are nicely situated near things, but you are still going to be driving to get everywhere. GOOD SLEEP: 3.5/5 Comfortable bedding, room was quiet BUT they are using the old school window air conditioners, and ours had a crooked cover and randomly went into rattling fits for about 2-3 minutes every few hours all night. SHOWER: 4/5 Hot water and good pressure. Nice smelling toiletries. Glass door. A little mold on the bottom inside of the shower. Other Comments: - FREE coffee in the morning - Mentioned our Platinum status but no real benefit other than the automated 500 "welcome amenity" points we received. - Nice Keurig coffee maker in the room....but a little stingy on the pods - only received 2 regular coffee and 1 decaf coffee. - Given that we were not in a gigantic metropolitan city, I was a little surprised at the compact nature of the room and bathroom compared to normal USA size. No problem and had everything we needed, but just interesting. The room was a little more modern and updated than some HI properties, but the hotel itself felt a little older. The room had spots of dust / dirt in corners. Overall, it was a fine no problem stay (which is a GOOD thing!!). If I were coming back, I would try to find a place in walking distance of the fun downtown pedestrian mall. Read less

My husband, teenaged kids and I stayed here in July to be close to the University of Virginia for an orientation event. I chose the hotel based on its location: within a reasonable distance from UVA. The hotel is fine, the staff is nice, and it’s basically clean, but our bathroom was tiny, weirdly designed, and the towel racks kept coming out of the walls. We didn’t spend much time here because we were out at the event, but my daughter and I did use the pool a couple of times (which seems to be right near where the smoking area is for both staff and guests). We will be coming back to the area frequently and may use this hotel again, but I will probably try another hotel a little closer next time at least. Read less

We stayed one night. What attracted us to this property was that it is dog friendly and had a pool. We were on our way to the coast and had high hopes for this property based on recent 5-star reviews. We got a king bed room. Although the website says otherwise, the couch in the room did pull out. We had a pack'n play for our 2 year old daughter so I can't speak to the comfort of the pull out couch. That's just an FYI. Our AC unit has mold on it from condensation dropping off of the curtain above it. We had a dog-friendly room so, I'm assuming that's why the carpet was so nasty with stains. The pool was small and the most shallow end is almost 4 feet deep so its hard for toddlers to play in this pool unless you have a life vest or good floaties. We happened to stay the same night as a large middle school baseball team so the pool was extremely overcrowded with rowdy boys. Perhaps I didn't get the best feel for the space. They have a nice patio with grills though. We had breakfast at the hotel. It was okay. They were apparently understaffed and had a lot of issues with the service the day we stayed. A number of patrons left before getting their food. We were lucky and didn't personally experience this but had a tense show watching it all unfold. We are avoiding this hotel for our return and don't plan to stay here again if we can help it. Read less
