Omni Charlottesville

Charlottesville, Virginia

The hotel

Short of sleeping in the shops and restaurants themselves, you can’t get much closer to Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall than this. Just moments from its 7 pedestrianised blocks of shopping, dining, theatres, and entertainment, Omni Charlottesville Hotel has the perfect pitch in the city. It even has views over Downtown Mall from its cool and casual restaurant, The Pointe, which forms part of the hotel’s stunning 7 storey atrium. Its address may be favoured by all who visit Charlottesville, but only guests get to step inside and enjoy the hotel’s line up of luxuries, which include a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, a seasonal outdoor pool, a fully geared up fitness hub, and guestrooms which mix contemporary comforts with a nod to the South’s legendary love of grace and refinement.

We booked online trying to find a lodging that was close to a venue downtown. This was a great location for walking downtown, and we were very impressed with the Omni. Parking was easy and not hard to get out. Staff was super friendly and I thought was a fair price compared to other spots I have stayed.

Bathrooms the size of a phone booth, subpar service. No restrictions on large dogs being in rooms. Yes it is a good location, but that is all! This is a mediocre hotel at best. I would recommend staying somewhere else

I’ve stayed here multiple times in the past and almost didn’t book again this time due to terrible reviews. Glad we chose this Omni again for our weekend at UVA. The hotel does certainly need to renovate in the next year or two as much of the decor is outdated, but overall still looks just fine. Our room was very clean and luckily we didn’t hear any construction noise. I do recommend the hotel stop using that awful artificial room freshener. I had called ahead and asked that they not spray our room and I was glad about that! I happened to smell the scent in another room and it was simply toxic. The staff is very professional and the best thing about the hotel is obviously it’s location on the downtown mall. It was dreamy to be able to walk to dinner and drinks and casually stroll home. In town for a wedding and found the Omni as the ideal location just steps from the 'Downton Mall' with all its shops and restaurants. Eating at the outdoor restaurants was a great experience but the Omni was always a fall back option if it rained. The little coffee shop was not quite so reliable for a drink as they just seemed to close at will. No… Read more

Staff on the desk were always friendl and helpful so I would gladly stay there again. Read less

Lying in bed at this property, hoping to sleep in on a Sunday, I’m hearing a woman in the room next door on the phone with someone, talking at a normal voice level. Boy, are these walls thin! Lying in bed at this property, hoping to sleep in on a Sunday, I’m hearing a woman in the room next door on the phone with someone, talking at a normal voice level. Boy, are these walls thin! I travel frequently and don’t often complain about beds, but the bed here was hard, so I tossed all night. The view from our room (top floor) was some building’s tar roof. The bathrooms are teeny, as my wife and I could not be in there at the same time. I think this hotel used to be some low-tier property, that was dressed up with wallpaper and nicer carpet. Other than the pretty atrium lobby and proximity to bars and restaurants to make it ideal, it has no sleeping or habitation value. Read less
