Omni Charlottesville

Charlottesville, Virginia

The hotel

Short of sleeping in the shops and restaurants themselves, you can’t get much closer to Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall than this. Just moments from its 7 pedestrianised blocks of shopping, dining, theatres, and entertainment, Omni Charlottesville Hotel has the perfect pitch in the city. It even has views over Downtown Mall from its cool and casual restaurant, The Pointe, which forms part of the hotel’s stunning 7 storey atrium. Its address may be favoured by all who visit Charlottesville, but only guests get to step inside and enjoy the hotel’s line up of luxuries, which include a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, a seasonal outdoor pool, a fully geared up fitness hub, and guestrooms which mix contemporary comforts with a nod to the South’s legendary love of grace and refinement.

The location of the hotel is great, just at the start of the historic downtown walking street. However, it is incredible that the AC of the hotel does not work properly and that you have to sleep with two fans! The AC says it’s at 60F but the air coming out of the vent is not cold. Room 701. 😡 There was already a fan when I arrived so I… Read more

Room 701. 😡 There was already a fan when I arrived so I supposed that AC has been down for a while. When I called guest services asking for a can they sent one but had to check if there was one available. I’m sure other rooms are having the same problem. Read less

This visit was pleasant overall. The staff, especially housekeeping was very pleasant and the room was great. The toiletries was of excellent quality. The restaurant staff and food were very good. I would visit this location again.

Just returned from a 2 night stay for a wedding this past weekend, and I thought the hotel would be in better condition than the certificate of excellence would lead me to believe. I favor newer hotels but this is the hotel selected by the grooms family because of the downtown mall, which I didn't find to be anything special. This hotel was built in the style of the 1970's complete with glass elevators in the lobby. We had the buffet breakfast, and the hotel phone operator told me the cost was $15 during the weekend, while the website shows $20, with no mention of the weekend price. The actual price was $21. The buffet is very well done, however. The bed and bedding was fine, the A/C was great ( it was 100 degrees) and the room itself was a good size, but the bathroom was too small and needs to completely redone. The tub spout was loose and the "fix " was to use caulk. The carpet in the Pointe dinning room is horrible. As for hearing conversation from other rooms, we had the A/C cranked up so we heard nothing. I had to remind the front desk to pick up room service dirty dishes left outside rooms near my room. Lastly, the hallways had many areas where the housekeeping carts had bumped in to the walls, and caused damage. The wedding room rate was higher than the online rate posted a week before the wedding, when we called them and they changed the rate. A major plus was the staff, everyone who helped us were great. We stayed at the Omni in Charlottesville as part of our two week holiday and the room we had was really lovely. A special thank you to Ken, the bar man who was really friendly, welcoming and helpful. The staff as a whole were great.
