I stayed in the hotel Feb 13-15. The room was clean but not luxurious. The shower was broken in room 810: water flow would not completely shift to shower head. That reduced the pressure. During check-in they did not mention the resort fee at all, even when I asked "you will only charge incidentals right?". They affirmed positively, but then… Read more

During check-in they did not mention the resort fee at all, even when I asked "you will only charge incidentals right?". They affirmed positively, but then charged about $60 resort fee for two days. They did not even explain what the resort fee was for, or any of the amenities that come with it. This is clearly deceptive to me. The location was nice, close to Union metro line, botanical garden, and walking distance to National Mall. Overall, I think there are better hotels to stay with the same amount of money. Read less

I was assigned to the Kimpton George through Hotwire, and was very happy with the results. The price was reasonable, and the room was lovely. Two comfortable queen beds, enough size for two people to be comfortable, clean, and modernized. My only complaint is the lighting; there is no one switch that turns all the lights on, so you have to go from lamp to lamp to light up the room in the evening. Minor detail, however, like the lack of sufficient accessible plugs for charging devices. The lobby is very nice, the service was great, and the gym was more than adequate. The bistro was very nice as well. Location is a big plus; it's only a few moments walk from Union Station, giving you easy access to the entire city and its surroundings. I had business both downtown and in Crystal City, and this was a great location. The Capital is only a few blocks away. The immediately surrounding neighborhood is fine, but not particularly charming; I'm told it's much improved from a few decades ago. I would stay here again. Very pleased. Read less
