I made a last minute call to reservations at Glover Park which was full for tonight. The reservation specialist booked me into the sister hotel Palomar. I have a dog which they welcomed with no extra charge. Upon checkin they welcomed me with an upgrade (having only stayed in a Kimpton property once). They happy hour was a lot of fun. Front desk and other staff were friendly and courteous, and housekeeping did their work very well. The King Deluxe Room was equipped with a queen sized bed, which was quite comfortable but may be unacceptable to others. Rooms are not equipped with coffee/tea makers but one may be requested from the front desk. (That request did take about 90 minutes to execute.) The rooms are fitted with ‘mini-bar’ refrigerators, which may be inconvenient if you decide to bring perishable food back to your room (as the unit is already full of cans and bottles). The water pressure at the (10th floor) bathroom sink was rather low. WiFi was slow and disconnected repeatedly. Overall, like other Kimpton Hotels, the Palomar is a good value for business travel. This hotel is in a nice location and the room was clean. There is nothing extraordinary about this property. I am a rewards member of this chain and when I checked in I asked to keep my room for longer than the checkout time of noon. The check in person offered me 30 minutes. The rewards package supposedly permits you until 2. I asked another person on the day of checkout and she gave me until 1pm begrudgingly. When I went to my room at 1245 to check my key was deactivated which required another trip to the front desk. Don’t promise late check out and then backtrack. It is dishonest. Even more dishonest is how this hotel charges an amenities fee which wasn’t fully explained or discussed when I was booking the room. All that showed up was the room rate. This hotel has no pool. It is not a resort in miami. Furthermore when I questioned this charge at checkout I was told the “free” wine and coffee are amenities by the snippy check out clerk. After complaining further the charge was removed, but this is not the type of customer service I should be subjected to. And don’t say the wine and coffee are free at check in if they charge for it when you check out. This is also dishonest and misleading. This hotel doesn’t accommodate its guests. You have to fight to get their attention. The front desk staff needs serious customer service training. Read less

First things first the staff were great - a genuine warm welcome and a nice upgrade for my IHG status. Unlike some of the other reviewers I had a nice room with something of a view. The hotel aircon smelt somewhat musty and there's no coffee making facilities in the room. You can get a free coffee from the bar at certain times but most hotels of… Read more

The hotel aircon smelt somewhat musty and there's no coffee making facilities in the room. You can get a free coffee from the bar at certain times but most hotels of this size and scale trust you to make your own these days. The location is a pleasant 30 minute walk or so from the White House. There's plenty of cabs at the door and the Metro would also be an option since its close to DuPont Circle. You can also borrow a bike though I didn't try these out. Read less

So I woke up this morning hugging a blanket with stains of feces, blood, and other human fluids right by my face, see photo. Like when those flimsy sheets they put around the duvet (instead of a proper cover) come apart. The stains looked fresh, meaning not washed out, and no, they were not from me. So I woke up this morning hugging a blanket with stains of feces, blood, and other human fluids right by my face, see photo. Like when those flimsy sheets they put around the duvet (instead of a proper cover) come apart. The stains looked fresh, meaning not washed out, and no, they were not from me. This was the morning after the second night in the hotel, so when making the bed, the cleaners must have decided twice that this was still ok for me to sleep in and just covered it up with sheets. It was the filthiest thing that has happened to me in 15 years of very regular work travel. I left the hotel in disgust and will never set foot in a Kimpton again and have asked our corporate travel department to review sending people to IHG hotels. Two side notes: beer in mini-bar was “best before 07-2017”, so I decided it best to leave it alone. First morning I thought I could sleep in, but the cleaners were shouting and laughing so loud in the corridor, that it was impossible. Overall it felt to me like this place has no bit of concern for the well-being of their customers. Read less
