Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel

Dupont Circle and Embassy Row, Washington DC

The hotel

On the masculine side of sultry, this urban hangout’s dressed in macho greys, with muted jewel accents, monochrome detailing, and warming dashes of wood and distressed leather. It all fits in with the manly ‘cut and thrust’ of Washington DC and Mason & Rook Hotel’s neighbourhood, which they describe as ‘the IT zone’. Steps from 14th Street, the rooms still ooze spaciousness from their former life as apartments. After grabbing free tea or coffee downstairs each morning, you can walk to the White House and other DC delights, or hop on a complimentary bike to explore – just be back for the nightly wine hour. Guests staying in summertime can mix days sightseeing with days at the rooftop pool, before joining local crowds at its accompanying bar for creative cocktails and starlit views over the capital.

Very modern, clean hotel in great location! Excellent social distance/sanitizing protocols in place. Was very pleased with valet parking and their use of PPE at all times. Took a lot of stress off of our trip!

My hubby and I stayed here Friday night last week to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The location is perfect - after check-in we walked EVERYWHERE - had a lovely Ramen dinner and a brunch the next day at Le dip. While the furnishings and the hotel itself are luxurious - the open-air garden patio is the BEST - some mulled wine and a spiked coffee drink in front of the fire pits really hit the spot. (as did a chocolate croissant the next day). Thanks to Jason at the front desk - who hooked us up with some celebratory bourbon for our day! All in all - was a wonderful place to getaway - even briefly. Everyone wore masks and the quick access to the garden patio - made us feel like we were outside most of the time. The rooftop pool will hopefully be open soon (too)! High Recommended for a getaway. (pet friendly too) Read less

Great hotel. Super clean. Felt very welcomed and safe. The room was clean and comfortable. The rain shower was exactly what was needed after a long day of travel. Plenty of restaurants in the area as well Do not hesitate to stay here.

This will be my first choice stay the next time I come back. Not even a close second! This was a personal stay for a date weekend. Couldn't complain if I wanted to. Centrally located to the things that interested me. I travelled early October.

Our youngest son was married at The Viceroy last weekend and I have to be honest, I was less than enthusiastic with all of the precautions that were needed due to Covid. We tried to convince them to postpone yet again as their planned June wedding had already been canceled. No luck. When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere. the accommodating staff and the beautiful rooms. Kate did a PHENOMENAL job of making sure that our boys had the wedding they dreamed of and that everything went as planned. I can honestly say that it was EVERYTHING I could've hoped for and more. One of the best weekends of my life. Highly recommend The Viceroy for your important events. Thank you Kate and staff for being part of Colin and Collin's special day! Read less
