I like to consider myself a google review warrior, but I was so impressed with the service I received I let them tell me where they wanted the review. It was my birthday weekend and this is where we decided to stay as we ran around the city. I was not disappointed at all! I like to read through the reviews, so I know how important they are and I can tell from my experience that this hotel does too. I saw a complaint about the cars getting cramped at the entrance. There was a gentleman out there making sure that the check-in and valet service went smooth. SanWon (probably butchered the spelling) is his name and he made my check in beyond wonderful. He didn't know it was my birthday or where we were coming from, but he made sure to leave a lasting impression. I haven't even got inside the hotel yet and I'm already pleased. When you normally walk in you expect no music or something slow. Missy was playing, yes Missy Elliot "The Rain" was playing. The bar looked inviting and everything was full of life. It wasn't dim or draining. It was a breath of fresh air. I was just in Queens to see a friend of mine and was amazed at how modern his flat was, I got the same feeling from this place. I like the concrete floors with rug and I saw a comment saying bring slippers, no need, they provide it along with a robe. I was a huge fan of the open shower concept, huge. The bar service was really friendly and helpful. As we stood there wondering where to order drinks a waitress walked up and asked us if we needed help. It's the little things like that you grow to appreciate. There aren't any hidden valet fees because they keep the prices right in front of the valet desk. It's definitely worth a stay, but make sure you know which package you're getting when you book. we'll definitely be back. Read less

This is in a great location! Veryu walkabel to a lot of good restaurants and super clean area of DC> The property communication was very good. They reached out upon booking, then again on the day of check-in. They made contactless check-in possible. I like the concrete floors; I think that makes it easier to clean and vacuum. The rug kept the floors from being too frigid. The fridge and roomsafe was designed well and integrated into the cabinets (definitely nice). There was a nice foyer-like area by the door to leave things like keys, food, etc. I had the double queen and it was a fairly good sized room. My kids loved the sitting area- that cushion was very cozy and felt like a cute niche. I don't have pets but I did like meeting all the dogs from other patrons there. The glass door to the shower was so small. It's the newest trend of most modern hotels and just does not work. Water gets everywhere. Thank goodness it was a rainshower-showerhead; I guess the spray could have been worse. I really hated having to go downstairs to get hot water. There is no kettle or anything akin to one in the room. No morning coffee unless you have the foresight to order ahead downstairs. The staff was really really nice about it (they always smiled!), but even with bringing my own thermos bottle, I had to go downstairs to the coffee bar area 8 times in 2 night-stay. The lobby and lounge is super trendy and hip. Oddly, even with the beautiful trendy people, there was small clusters of families (not that families are not beautiful, but you know what I mean....), so all ages will feel welcome. Read less

First of all I would return to this hotel anytime I visit DC. The location is excellent (restaurants, proximity to National Mall), the hotel is nice, and the staff is very friendly. We also need to consider the impact of COVID on hotels in general and how that affected the service score, i.e. we needed to ask multiple times to get extra bedding.… Read more

I pour over reviews before staying someplace new for a special occasion. And I read all the reviews I could find on Yours Truly before booking. This place will not disappoint if you are looking for a “cool vibe” and central location. The lobby furnishings are a great quality and updated modern twist of chic 1970’s meets boho aesthetic. Lots of natural light and fresh open air windows in the living room/lobby make you feel like you are on the west coast and not downtown dc (we lived in CA for 11 years- I know from experience). Our Premium Double Queen on the 5th floor had 2 windows and a built in wall lounge settee. We chose to have more floor space versus a view. The Premium Double Queen has a courtyard view- in our case the playground to a school below. Directly across is a building. We knew this and it was fine. If you want a view, choose a “city view” room. The room was bright and has an excellent double shade to allow filtered light or to completely block the light. The refrigerator is a drawer style with a drawer safe above it. Both convenient and way to access it. Comfy robes and slippers are provided for use. The bathroom has a sliding door- similar to a barn style door. The way they were attached proved a gap on each side so sound escapes and you are visible by an inch gap on each side of the door. There is no ceiling fan to provide noise coverage- so you do hear everythingbtakingbplavevin the bathroom. If you are staying with a friend or acquaintance together in a room- you should know this in dance. There is an open shower which has a great rainfall shower head. The floor outside the shower will of course get wet, it’s impossible not too in this popular shower style. So just put down the floor mat and don’t place slippers or robes on the floor in front of it. It’s not an issue- just be aware. To be specific to other critiques of room descriptions I read on Trip Advisor of this hotel- yes, there is only 1 waste basket in the bathroom, but it has an interior plastic liner. Remove the liner and take to the living area and now you have 2 waste baskets in the room. The doors other reviews mention not having privacy are the bathrooms- the door to our room to the hallway was perfectly soundproof. Having concrete floors allows the room to be very sound proof- we had people on either side and heard a peep. There are drawers under the beds, in a dresser, and shelving on top snd below the standing open valet. We had plenty of space for our luggage and clothing. The room also had a very good clothing steamer. Our room had plenty of lamps and lighting to maintain a nice light level at nice. The beds were very comfortable and plush- plenty of pillows and great quality sheets. Breakfast at Mercy Me was delicious! And fast!!! Breakfast tacos of eggs, bacon, cheese were 3 for $9. I expected them to be small but they were 8” rounds- plenty for my husband and I to share. The cold brew was delicious! And there pastries are amazing! The monkey bread and pineapple empanada should definitely be tasted! The gym was very well equipped. The record store was a treat and the hotel was so gracious and allowed us to borrow a player for our son’s birthday. Plus there was a nice variety of records to check out at the reception desk. Every employee was friendly and helpful at the desk and restaurant. For being a hip and popular location we didn’t feel too old nor uncomfortable being with our 10yr old, even after night when we chilled in the lobby. This is a great hotel for the amenities offered (even during Covid), the central location, and the “hip” factor, for the cost if the room. We will return! Read less
