Nice Lobby area. Room and king bed were comfortable. Doorman wasn't at the door much. There was some coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Since Valet parking seemed expensive, even for the area, we parked at the Georgetown University Parking Garage (Science and Engineering Building). To park there, enter via H between 22nd and 23rd. My niece and I checked into the Melrose Georgetown 11/4/19 thru 11/7/19. Upon arrival there was no doorman available to help with luggage and the staff were busily conversing with each other rather than greeting guests. Once we were greeted and assigned our first room, we were sorely disappointed to find our room was dingy and filthy. We immediately went to the front desk and requested a different room. The second room was not an improvement. We found hair on the sheets and blood stained wallpaper next to the bathroom sink. Dust was thickly accumulated throughout the room, especially next to the beds where trash from previous guests had been left. The manager on staff was shocked and embarrassed when she viewed the condition of the room and agreed to move us again into another room, known as a “Pure Room,” located on the sixth floor. We went downstairs to enjoy some appetizers while they prepared our room. The “Pure Room” was a welcome change. Wonderfully clean and welcoming, this room had the cleanliness and charm we had hoped for when we first arrived. Though it took a couple of tries, the manager did go above and beyond to compensate for the condition of the prior rooms. She discounted our room, covered the charge of our appetizer, and sent a fruit and cheese plate along with refreshments as an apology. Her ability to work diligently with guests turned a horrible experience into a happy one. If considering this hotel, I would recommend booking a “Pure Room,” to avoid our initial disappointment. Loved staying at this hotel conveniently located close to Georgetown with great access to other parts of DC and surrounding areas. Parking was very expensive but there was plenty of street parking. Would definitely stay here again.

The Melrose is one of my favorite hotels in DC. It’s quiet and comfortable and the staff is simultaneously friendly and professional. The restaurant offers surprisingly good food and Soliane in the dining room is a delight.

After a very long trip, the hotel was overbooked when I tried to check in. I went to the restaurant to figure out next steps, and my server Sofiane could tell I was out of sorts. He made sure I got something to eat, coffee to drink - he turned my entire day around. Highly recommend a visit.
