When we pulled up to the hotel we needed to valet the car, as we got out of the car, in front of the hotel , there was a half clothed man laying on the sidewalk who we had to walk around to get into the hotel. Not very welcoming. The gentleman at the front desk was pleasant. He got us a room on the 6th floor. However, when we got to the floor we were hit with a strong smell of pot and a cheap air freshener (like the ones you’d find at a truck stop or gas station). The boxers got worse as we got toward our room. We just couldn’t stay there, so we went back downstairs to get another room. We were sent to the third floor this time. No pot smell, but still the horrible air freshener smell, making us feel as though we were in a cheap dirty motel. We noticed this smell last week at the last Hilton Garden Inn as well, I hope it’s not a new trend, it’s rather disgusting and permeates everything. We will think long and hard before staying if in another HGI. Read less

My wife and I took a short trip to Dc the pool was small no music at pool no bar the restaurant closed at 10 no fun at the hotel needs a happy hour or welcome night for people checking in maybe with snacks and drinks

First, I’m sorry if this is long. The short version is this hotel put my seven month old daughter at risk of serious injury or worse. I asked for a crib multiple times before arrival. I was told with some irritation and attitude there was one in my room. No crib. Not a huge deal. It came in 5-10 minutes. I was traveling alone with my daughter which any parent would know is stressful enough. We were tired so I put her down to sleep and in my ignorance did not inspect the crib for safety. I could never have imagined the hotel would have sent a broken crib for my baby to sleep in. The next morning I realized a screw was missing and another almost falling out. I was horrified. Long story short they sent another one (after offering me a screwdriver to fix it myself). This crib was sturdy but I noticed something looked strange about the sheets. It was a queen sheet that had been folded up and stuffed underneath the mattress. Any parent knows what a risk this poses for suffocation. When contacted, the manager said he was sorry about the broken crib but wasn’t sure if there were fitted crib sheets. That he’d need to check with housekeeping. Completely and totally inappropriate and unacceptable. They did have one. We slept there a second night. I felt the need to explain to the manager how serious these mishaps were and he didn’t seem to get it, saying that I was ‘repeating myself’ and didn’t seem to understand what was wrong with the loose sheet. I’ve brought this up the chain in the Hilton management. We’ll see if anything comes of it but I believe this hotel and manager do not represent the standards I’ve experienced at other Hilton hotels. This hotel should be reviewed for safety reasons by upper management and somebody, whether housekeeping or the manager or both should experience repercussions for their actions and inactions. Great value, the hotel was clean and the employees were friendly. Amenities we’re fully open for use which was a bonus. Within walking distance to some great restaurants and the red line and the surrounding area was safe and clean.
