Location: It is located quite centrally (in the NW corner). Easy access to anywhere. Room: The room is nice and clean. I enjoyed my stay there. Staff: The front desk staff is super friendly. I did not use the restaurant or the bar so cannot comment. Summary: Nice hotel, I am sure there will be nicer ones but this is good enough for me. I… Read more

The Hilton Garden Inn. Georgetown Area, in Washington is a nice hotel but certainly not IN Georgetown, although it is close by, located at the corner of 22nd and M Streets. It is a five year-old property, well-designed and exceptionally clean and pleasant. The front desk service was adequate but we did have an incident in which the person who cleaned our room threw away our brand new Sunday New York Times while we were at church and before we got to read it. We asked at the desk if they could rectify this somehow and they basically said, "Sorry." which pretty much came across as, "Meh". Not terribly guest-friendly. The sleeping rooms are unusually large very clean and very comfortable. However one of the oddities is that even if you are in a room with two beds there is only one chair which is a desk chair. It would seem to be a good idea to put some sort of easy chair in the room and there is certainly adequate flor space to do that. The bathrooms are impressive in their design. We occupied a "standard room" with two queen beds and the bathroom had grab bars in the toilet and tub/shower area that were very helpful as we are older travelers. I assume this is a standard design for sleeping rooms in this property. More hotels should consider retrofitting bathrooms with this feature. The restaurant, called Cafe Deluxe is substantially larger than one typically found in a Hilton Garden Inn with a full bar and decent food selection. It is apparently a separately owned and managed operation that serves the hotel. A great feature is that there are tables outside along the street and French windows so that the space can be opened on a nice day. Fabulous for people-watching. The downside is that the service in general is poor. The maitre'd can be anywhere between not present and indifferent. The waitstaff includes some very good and helpful people but also a number of people who don’t seem to be well-trained or organized. Or else they simply don’t care. On the whole this is a nice, mid-level hotel, conveniently located and well worth considering when you're coming to Washington. We will definitely return. Read less

While the room is good, this was a terrible experience for me. I got scam call from the same male on the first two days of my stay. My credit card information was stolen (yes, I know I am partially responsible for this, but I was very tired and just called the front desk before the call, so I was not as mindful as I used to be). My credit card information was stolen (yes, I know I am partially responsible for this, but I was very tired and just called the front desk before the call, so I was not as mindful as I used to be). I reported to the front desk after the first scam, but they've done noting and I got another one the next day. Let me ask you this: how can the person bypass the switchboard and call me directly? What did you do to prevent this from happening again??? By the way, they did not replace or even fold the dirty bath towel. Most importantly, my bill was wrong and they charged me more. I called to ask for a refund and they said they would contact me later. Guess what? I waited couple of days and nobody called me. This hotel is simply a joke. Read less

Nothing to add to the ratings that I have already provided. We were pleased with the room and amenities. Would have preferred better weather, but the staff cannot do anything about that. Everyone was friendly and helpful during our stay.

Imagine the shock of arriving after a 10 hour trans-oceanic flight, for a six night stay, and being told by the front desk that they have cancelled your pre-paid reservation because "we have decided no longer to do business with your web booking service" (which, for the record, was Lufthansa). Even though the reservation was made and pre-paid six weeks in advance, but the hotel gave no warning it had stopped doing business with Lufthansa's hotel booking service. The hotel was fully booked, and when asked what they could do for me, they invited me to sit in the lobby into the evening to see if some other guest was a no-show. I had no option but to wander the streets of Washington DC trying to find a hotel that would give me a room for the night, and did get settled at the nearby St. Gregory Hotel, which was excellent. I shall NEVER stay at the Hilton Garden Inn again, needless to say. They were absolutely uninterested in solving my problem, and did nothing to help me get a refund or find a room elsewhere. It was scandalous. Read less
