Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

This new addition to Washington’s hotel scene opened its doors to the public in November 2015, so expect everything to be bang-up-to-date at this city centre gem. Spacious guestrooms mean you can really stretch out and relax with a seating area, double bed and pull-out sofa bed – perfect for families as well as couples. There’s also a 24-hour fitness centre should you feel the need for a workout, complete with a swimming pool for cooling off in. There are myriad attractions on your doorstep, including eateries galore but the Hyatt ensures your day gets off to a great start with a complimentary hot breakfast from the Kitchen Skillet. Also very handy for intrepid explorers is the grab ‘n go menu and the 24/7 gallery menu, serving food the way you want it, when you want it. If you’re in need of a reviving shot of caffeine, pop into the Coffee to Cocktails bar, and, once the sun’s over a certain yardarm, you can swap coffee for a mojito perhaps or a craft beer!

I left with a feeling of not getting what I paid for in general from this hotel. The breakfast did not have a variety of options to choose from and not as I expected. Also, there is not views of anything from any location in this hotel.

Stayed here for two nights for a short family vacation. While the staff was very nice and the hotel is a half mile to some of the museums and Wharf area, we did not get much sleep there. Our room overlooked the highway and hotel pool, and while we could not hear the highway, we could hear the people in the next room as well as doors slamming up and down the hall. That was bad enough, but on our first night, there was just a sheer shade over the window. It was bright all night long (highway lights and the pool lights stay on). If the hotel was inexpensive and did not charge $50/night for parking, I'd chalk it up to "you get what you pay for". They did install a darker shade for the second night (though it was crooked and did not cover the whole window). The rooftop bar was nice but looked out over office buildings and construction. Breakfast is included but go early if you'd like to find a seat. Read less

Fair room, comfortable beds, good breakfast assortment. Located just a short walk from Independence, it’s a good choice for a sight-seeing trip. The pool is pretty tiny, but okay if you’re a kid. The outside seating areas are a nice option unless it’s 90 degrees with 95% humidity.

The hotel was very clean. The staff was very efficient and friendly. Check-in and out was fast. The breakfast bar had a large verity of foods and was well maintained. We had a family of 5 and the accommodations were great.

hotel is nice, walking distance to national mall, warf and interantional spy museum. breakfast was good. lots of seating. valet parking was good and the price is about what i have paid in baltimore and philly. rooms are good sized. we had a 12th floor room with a view of jefferson memorial and washington monument. we faced a very busy road. road noise was an issue. they provide 1 set of ear plugs so obviously they are aware of the noise. a sound machine would be nice, we stayed in a hotel last yr that had one in the room to block out noise. the bathroom doors are frosted glass and sliding. we did not like that. we are a family of 5 and we found this awkward. limited privacy factor.
