Kimpton Hotel Madera

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

Ideally located for soaking up the culture and history of Washington, the Kimpton Hotel Madera is just a short walk from all attractions, including restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Although it’s so close, it’s peaceful ambience isn’t compromised in the least, offering a true respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Award-winning service and comfort is what the Madera is all about and there’s a lot that’s complimentary, morning coffee and a hosted evening wine hour – perfect for getting to know your fellow holidaymakers. Adjacent to the hotel is the wildly popular Firefly Restaurant with its laid-back atmosphere and contemporary American comfort food. They also serve a mean cocktail – so even if you’re not dining here, pop in for a drink beforehand anyway.

Hotel is located in a nice part of DC, in the middle of a neighborhood and accessible to transit, dining, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable and decor has the Kimpton vibe to it. They charge $25 for a "hotel fee" that covers internet, wine in evenings, coffee in a.m. and "car service" in a one-mile radius. Fine. But the TV literally flashes "No… Read more

They charge $25 for a "hotel fee" that covers internet, wine in evenings, coffee in a.m. and "car service" in a one-mile radius. Fine. But the TV literally flashes "No signal" with most of its channels and the ones that do get signal, quickly lose it making it unwatchable. I called front desk and engineer came up and shrugged and said, "It just does that. We don't get a lot of channels." and left without a solution. So four days in a hotel without a functioning TV. Simply unacceptable for a top-line hotel brand. And not for a room that's going to cost me close to $1000 for four days include room, taxes and fees. Not going to leave recommending this place to folks. Read less

Hotel is slightly dated but the rooms are big and comfortable and the location is perfect. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. I only had the breakfast at the attached restaurant and it was very good. My only complaint was a tub that didn't drain. I called this to the staffs attention on the first day and it still was not fixed… Read more

The hotel is located in a very nice part of DC. The room was very nice and comfortable. The cleaning staff was very polite and helpful when needed. The lobby was very small for a Kimpton hotel and not impressive. Overall the room was clean and spacious. The price could be a little lower for the amenities offered for sure. Read less

First the location is food and safe. That's all I have for positives. This does not live up to the Kimpton brand name. Mattress would split open on side and springs hanging out. The other mattress was super hard and creaky like it was 20 years old. Wallpaper peeling. Adult toy item found under kids bunk bed.....that they found. Tiny and very… Read more

The other mattress was super hard and creaky like it was 20 years old. Wallpaper peeling. Adult toy item found under kids bunk bed.....that they found. Tiny and very outdated bathroom. No lobby. Resort fees and there are no amenities??? There is not a pool or spa to justify that. There are so many other hotels in the area. This needs a complete overhaul to live up to Kimpton name and the price they charge. Read less
