The hotel overall is perfectly fine and in a good location, and the room was nice. HOWEVER, immediately after I left I realized I had left a high quality, long charging cord and apple wall plug in my room. HOWEVER, immediately after I left I realized I had left a high quality, long charging cord and apple wall plug in my room. I called the front desk immediately and they assured me they would retrieve it and hold it at the desk until I returned for it at the end of the day. Did they? NO. No cord. They insisted housekeeping didn't find one when I know I left it there. Also, the sunflower seeds that came with my morning oatmeal were rancid (if they don't use them frequently, they should know to replace them). Read less

The Kimpton Hotel Palomar is adequate for a one or two night stay in Washington DC. The good points are that the room is relatively spacious and there is a wide screen television set with a remote control facing the bed. Needs improvement: move the bed a bit more away from the closet to make the closet more accessible and easier to open the closed doors. See to it that the maid cleans the room before 3 PM without needing the staying guest to request it. Install a small refrigerator. Install a small coffee maker. Provide an iron and an ironing board. Do not charge an exorbitant amount by the day for valet parking. Provide printed instructions on how to use the public transportation - since using one's own car for transportation in the area is impossible due to the severe limitations on parking. Because of the combination of the above two factors, the visitor to Washington DC might be well advised to choose a motel or a hotel with free parking outside of the downtown area and then rely on public transportation for daily transportation in and out of the heavy traffic tourist areas. Room view was amazing!!!, the staff....stupendous. I felt like a celebrity!!!. Super comfortable beds, kids didn't want to leave. They have room service, mini bar...a bit pricey. All and all, the best hotel I have stayed in yet. Downside, parking fees!
