Check my history. I've been to Kimpton hotels all over the country. While this isn't the worst (the Topaz takes that honor), this hotel still falls short of Kimptons mission as boutique luxury. Horrible lighting in the bathroom, a 37" 2008 LCD 20 feet away from the bed, poor condition furniture and a bad bar setup all make for a mediocre stay. My… Read more

My room was clean unlike previous reviews but I couldn't say the room was spotless. Overall, analogous to several other Kimpton properties in Washington DC, this one needs a makeover. Read less

I booked this room for my son, he's younger and likes to party so I thought this room might be okay. I stayed at the Marriott Marquis, around the corner. I arrived to leave my credit card for payment. The lack of curb appeal was so shocking my husband felt compelled to accompany me in. The engagement with the front desk was okay, the lobby was dark and creepy, it felt like it might be nasty dirty. I wanted my son to decide if it was okay and THEY DO NOT PROVIDE REFUNDS - BUYER BEWARE. My thoughts - let's see how he feels about it, we have room for him around the corner if he does not like it. My son used the room primarily for sleep. He was leary about the look and feel of the lobby but he said the room was fine, the decor was weird. It was only for one night. He was fine. They did not send a detailed bill/receipt and this you cannot engage this hotel via the Holiday Inn app, although you can book the hotel via the app. I take that as a sign and will not book a hotel that has limited engagement through an app going forward. IT IS A SIGN. My best advice: Buyer Beware Read less

Absolutely below the standards. Staff were "okay", but in two days they could not find a pair of slippers. If the carpets were clean, one could put up with it, but it was not. My socks turned black after five minutes walking in the room. The most unbearable to me was that the sheets were dirty. They were filled with tons of short black hair everywhere. We asked them to change it and it was taken care of immediately. When you book, it says "breakfast is included" but when you arrive you are told "breakfast is complementary" as if they are doing an extra favor for you. Kind of dishonest to cover up a poor service--a slow toaster, some bad bagels, bananas, corns, milk, coffee, juice. Dark were corridors and the entire place had a cheap 90s decoration. Definitely not worth the charge and not recommended. Read less

Went to D.C. for the 4th of July. Read the reviews of Kimpton Rouge, but our experience was NOT what most folks reported. 1) We'd booked a 2Queen room. When we got there, we were informed "oh, we saw there were only 2 of you, so we've put you in a King Suite". That wasn't acceptable to us, asked for what we'd booked. When we got there, we were informed "oh, we saw there were only 2 of you, so we've put you in a King Suite". That wasn't acceptable to us, asked for what we'd booked. The night guy hemmed and hawed, said "ok, here you go", gives us keys. Well (magically!) the key card didn't work. Went down and were told "oops, something is wrong with that door, can't get it fixed until tomorrow". ALL they had left was a King suite. (Of course, we were told we could move the following day, but who the heck wants to do that?) So, got a King suite. It was FILTHY. Floor had a feather and multiple plastic clothing price tabs on it. Bottoms of our feet were black within 15 minutes. At least the bathroom was clean and the sheets were (or at least looked like it). The 2nd day we were there, we notice there was DECOMPOSING FOOD in the small refrigerator AND clothes in TWO of the dresser drawers. And, one night, we went down to have a cocktail, and the bar/lounge was closed. We were told "oh, the bartender decided not to come in tonight". Hmm ... After much protesting, we got the room rate reduced. I did a review, and the manager said "gee, sorry you weren't happy". Not much of a response, in my opinion. Typically pretty mellow about stuff, but this was over the top bad. Read less

My husband and I stayed for four nights at the Kimpton Rouge while touring DC for the first time. The location was superb because it was out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to walk or take a cheap Lyft if you wanted to. The hotel itself was eclectic- nothing to complain about, just different. We booked a hotel rather than Airbnb in order to get free breakfast... so we were disappointed to find the free breakfast was just cereal, toast, coffee and juice. We did end up ordering several meals from the restaurant on site and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Service at the hotel was great. Staff were attentive and helpful- especially the front desk personnel. I’d recommend staying if you’re looking for a cheap hotel off the main drag! Read less
