Image of the Tripadvisor rating Nice for a conference stay

Polite staff. Comfortable bedding. Good location. Updated bathroom. I would have preferred a regular coffee machine instead of espresso machine. Easy access to transportation and dining. Valet parking. Breakfast is not complimentary and mostly carbohydrates.

Such a nice experience. I stayed for 5 nights and loved coming "home" to my cozy room with the colonial wall-paper and matching curtains. Much better than staying at a commercial place, like the Hilton or Marriot.

I was on a three day conference and needed a nice place to stay that wasn't prohibitive. The Normandy filled the bill elegantly. It is a beautiful place with old world mixed in with modern decor. There may have been some areas that needed a touch up, however, overall I had no concerns. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. I recommend this hotel… Read more

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Awful odor overwhelmed us as soon as we walked in. Mildew in carpet?

This was a weird experience. I would not stay there again. The worst thing was a really bad smell like a combination of mildew and cat pee in the room. Fortunately we were able to open the window which helped a lot. We decided to stay just because we were so exhausted. There was a very nice staff member who tried to help us with various issues and she was the main good thing about the hotel. The room was very outdated - the kind where the wallpaper and curtains are same pattern. The beds did seem clean and were comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the water pressure was very low. I guess it might be worth 80 per night because of the location. The other problem I had was that I had called ahead before I booked through Expedia to ask if there was free parking. I was told that there was free parking if I had a compact car. When I pulled up to the hotel, there was a steep driveway with room for only one car with a closed garage door. The lady who tried to help me with other issues told me to come in even though we were early and she would try to help. She really was trying. She told me she would check into parking issue. Anyway, as you can guess that never got resolved and I ended paying 40 for parking which was not in my plan. Not a huge deal but other staff members were not friendly and it was just an odd atmosphere. Lobby was fine with a small fireplace. So if you do stay here, don't bring a car if possible. The street was nice on which it was located but it's very narrow and is a two-way street. You had no room to get around the other car and several drivers almost hit me because they were angry. The street parking I think might have been two hours and was totally full almost the whole time I stayed. There were a lot of nice hotels in the area so if you can, avoid this place. Definitely does not look like the pics. Also could not pull the blind back up in the room - broken. One elevator and slow. Read less
