I booked this hotel for myself and my team coming for a training in DC, staying 4 nights. The room was over 80 degrees. I tried to turn down the heat but it didn't work. The front desk said they couldn't control the heat and to "open a window." Additionally, the safe was broken. I contacted the front desk and they said they couldn't fix it, I'd have to switch rooms if I wanted a working safe. Then, my key didn't work in the door (after I'd unpacked, gone out, and returned.) It took over an hour with the front desk and the manager trying to get into the room, and they couldn't fix it, and I had to switch. In the new room, the windows were broken and the light above the coffee maker did not work. The windows would open, but the handles were broken and they wouldn't close again. When I got home, I found that I was missing a pair of hand crocheted purple slippers. I contacted the hotel with a detailed description, to see if they'd found them, and they told me they had. They wouldn't send them to me unless I sent them a credit card to pay for postage. However, while I was at the hotel, my credit card had been used fraudulently and charged hundreds of dollars, so I wasn't comfortable sending my new credit card information. Instead, I sent a prepaid envelope (it cost only $5, the slippers were like small socks, so not expensive to ship.) When I received the package in the mail, the hotel had sent me not my slippers but a pair of old, black plastic flip flop sandals. I had sent them the description multiple times of my slippers. When I contacted them, they offered to reimburse the $5 postage. I am overall disgusted with this hotel, for its quality and its customer service. I work for Boston Public Schools and Harvard University and I will ensure that my team does not use this hotel again for trainings in the future. Read less

Kyra at the front desk made what could have been a pleasant stay a nightmare. From the instant we walked in, she was unpleasant and unhelpful. My husband and I were travelling for business and she put us in what must have been the worst room in the hotel--battered, damaged walls, frayed shades, broken fixtures overlooking dumpsters and a construction site--a room that barely resembled what was listed on the hotel website. I called my company requesting a move to a better hotel and they called the hotel to first see if our room could be upgraded and the front desk person promised to move us. I waited one hour, called downstairs, asked if the room was ready and she told me the room had been ready, but that I should have called downstairs to ask about it. I asked, "Will someone bring me the key to the new room?" She replied, "Come downstairs and get it." No offer of help to move, no apology. When I went downstairs, she pretended to be busy while someone handed me a key, not assistance or an apology, just a key to a new room. After I single handedly moved all of my belongings to the new room, which was markedly better, do you think anyone asked if everything was satisfactory? Nope, because no one cared. I did speak with the asst mgr Nigel the next day and he was helpful, but I guess not helpful enough because when we checked out two days later, Mrs. Personality, silently and seething, handed us a receipt without a goodbye or a thank you. Until they improve their front desk customer service, stay away. Read less

We booked this hotel during a weekend Valentine’s Day trip and based on the online representations, felt it would meet our needs. We are typically chain / Hilton and Marriott/ but tried for a more unique experience. It was definitely unique. 1. No milk or creamer for coffee at breakfast or cereal ....Crazy right? When we asked for it, we were told they ran out the day before and the manager would bring some when he came. After an hour, we walked across to the Hilton and bought coffees. They also ran out of water somehow . 2. No water bottles or water pitchers. When we asked, same response. 3. Layers of Ice in pockets at the entrance. DC is cold in Feb, my husband almost fell and when he suggested they to put some salt down, they went out and stuck a yellow sign in stead. 4. We were excited about the surprise complimentary wine tasting / happy hour the reception told us about when we checked in! Fun! Well, not to fast. We showed up for this “event” to find an empty room, when we asked at reception the young man said he was too busy to get the wine out and give him fifteen minutes. Then two cheap bottles of wine appeared, and a paper plate with about 50 small pieces of cubesd precut cheese. Interesting. Nothing else, no crackers nothing else at all. We weren’t sure how old the cheese was so we took a pass. 5. The young woman at reception couldn’t have been less helpful and could use some coaching on hospitality. 6. Moral is: not recommend this hotel and it is not a boutique hotel. Make no mistake it’s a budget hotel and that fine, it just needs to be represented as such. Room was fine. Location is fine. Nice neighborhood , list of good restaurants close by. Read less

Very close to DC mall. Rooms are clean, confortable beds, warm blankets, bathroom is a bit tight. Overall good experience, parking is valet additional to room price, breakfast is also additional to price. Shawn at front desk was cordial, professional, quick check in. Great option in the city.
