We had a very good experience. Rooms were spacious and the food in the cafe was very good. Mr. Sheheryar at the Front desk was outstanding in resolving a billing discrepancy that arose. We received excellent service from him, and will be going back soon as a result.

Pealing caulk in shower and a faulty electrical system that had to be replaced. Had multiple outlets not working or items unplugged without easy access. Clock/charger was unplugged. Refrigerator that is enclosed in a very heavy credenza was unplugged rendering some chocolate snacks melted and drinks warm. Lamps unplugged. One outlet that had to be replaced in total because it was faulty! That was a two day affair. Celebs and presidents may have stayed here in the past but doubt they would want to now. Do better! The whole staff was great, really friendly and helpful. I would definitely chose the same hotel if I plan to visit Washington DC again. Read less

My wife and I stayed at the Omni Shoreham on Easter weekend , checking in on Friday 3/29 and checking out on Sunday morning. We checked in right at check in time which was fortunate for us since we were second in line and we subsequently found out that their computers were down and all check in and transactions were being done manually and recorded on clipboards. A half hour latter, the check in line was wrapped around the very large lobby and out the front door. I felt bad for everyone involved including those checking in and especially the staff at the desk. The hotel room was generally up to expectations and had no major issues while there. The problem began at check out. Their system was still down so when I tried to settle part of my bill with gift cards it was suggested that i use them on my next stay. I responded that would be unacceptable. The desk clerk took all the information from my gift cards and said they would be processed later. Fingers crossed! Several days later I received an email receipt for the stay. They had only applied $100 of a total $400 gift cards to the bill and overcharged my MasterCard by $300. Two phone conversations with Omni personnel and two email messages later, my email messages are unanswered and the assurances that I received that someone would get back to me and correct the error go unfulfilled. I have since had to go to my credit card company and dispute the bill. Now I fully understand that they were dealing with a systems problem that was not of their making but they sure found a way to bill my credit card. What is inexcusable is that they fail to fulfill their promise to "get back to me by the end of the day" or " have accounting correct the problem. All in all, not a very rewarding experience. My family of 4 stayed here for a Spring Break trip to DC. We chose it for the price, the ambience, and location close to the zoo and the metro. Pros: - the price was cheaper compared to some of the other hotels closer to the mall (paid about $280 per night with tax); others I looked at were $400+ per night - really short walk to the Metro station nearby (safe neighborhood); it was only a few stops to get to the area with the sites/monuments - able to walk to the zoo - a variety of restaurants nearby (Open City was the kids favorite) - environment and ambience made the kids say WOW (we typically stay in Holiday Inn Express type places, which are nice, but the kids thought we were living large - pool was heated (I thought it was still cold, but my kids swam in it fine); hot tub was hot - our basic room (2 queen beds) was spacious and enough for room for us; bathroom was alittle small, but still worked - had a restaurant onsite which we never ate at, but also had a cafe (cash only) which we grabbed breakfast from a couple times Cons: - some of the areas showed it's age; I realize it's tough to fully and perfectly update a build that's 100 years old - Valet Parking is required and is $55 per day. I realize this is normal for the city so that was factored in. I could have possibly found a random spot with Parking Hero...but peace of mind with having car in a safe place was why I left it -The sheets were not the softest. - I know there were some other hotels closer to the Mall in the same price range. I'm curious how they were because by the last day or 2 of our trip, it might have been more convenient to be closer to the mall (we were prepared for rain some days, but others had random rainstorms that caught us). Would've been nice to pop back into our hotel to grab dry socks. Overall: I would absolutely stay here again. It was nice and convenient. The Metro is easy and safe to use. Staff was very friendly. The price was also reasonable. Read less
