The Darcy

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

The Darcy may look like a distinctly grown-up hotel, dressed in chic mid-century threads and understated tones, but its playful undercurrent’s revealed in bursts of technicolour. And unique Darcy Daypacks give budding mini-travellers five fun ‘missions’ for exploring DC – whether it’s as a ‘Darcy Detective’ at International Spy Museum, or a stargazer with astronaut ice cream. During the warm months, each young adventurer is offered ice cream sandwiches at check in– and you get to enjoy the complimentary cocktail hour (or in-room tipples from your Cocktail Butler), before Siren lures you in with its seductive maritime-themed décor and seafood platters. The Darcy’s complimentary bikes and scooters (and free WiFi for route-planning) make sightseeing simple, although you’re just 10 minutes’ walk from Dupont Circle and the White House. And you can set yourself up for the day with beignets and coffee at its New Orleans-inspired café, Lil’B

Rooms are nice although bathroom way too small, hotel in general well maintained, and the service is good. The restaurant downstairs is good as well, although we had to wait a long time on a number of occasions before getting served. Overall good price for what you get. I recommend for a weekend. Our needs were met with immediate attention from the moment we stepped out of the Uber. Our front desk agent, Mr. Michael Holmes, met us with the utmost professionalism. He held friendly conversation throughout the check-in process and my partner and I were both pleasantly surprised to discover he is also a Philadelphian! The hotel was clean and the studio suite in the corner of the hotel was extremely spacious with an amazing view! Thank you for an amazing stay, and thank you to Michael for provided us with world-class service! Read less

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Besides being centrally located, the staff was extremely efficient and courteous, and the room was nicely appointed and roomy. The price was reasonable considering it's Washington, DC. I would not hesitate to stay there again the next time I am in town.

There is a small restaurant in the hotel and a coffee shop next door. Metro stations are not far, and also a reasonable walk. The hallways are somewhat dark and some may experience a close feeling. The rooms are not large, but are adquate. The bathrooms are also not large, but the shower was decent. We found the bed to be great - especially since the museums closed and the bars and restaurants reduced service due to Covid19 and we spend more time in the room than we would have otherwise. As we were told this is a 4 star hotel we would have exxpected at least a small couch. Overall, we were pleased with the hotel and would stay again. Read less
