The Darcy

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

The Darcy may look like a distinctly grown-up hotel, dressed in chic mid-century threads and understated tones, but its playful undercurrent’s revealed in bursts of technicolour. And unique Darcy Daypacks give budding mini-travellers five fun ‘missions’ for exploring DC – whether it’s as a ‘Darcy Detective’ at International Spy Museum, or a stargazer with astronaut ice cream. During the warm months, each young adventurer is offered ice cream sandwiches at check in– and you get to enjoy the complimentary cocktail hour (or in-room tipples from your Cocktail Butler), before Siren lures you in with its seductive maritime-themed décor and seafood platters. The Darcy’s complimentary bikes and scooters (and free WiFi for route-planning) make sightseeing simple, although you’re just 10 minutes’ walk from Dupont Circle and the White House. And you can set yourself up for the day with beignets and coffee at its New Orleans-inspired café, Lil’B

We were looking for a hotel that was dog friendly, but up to a high standard. The Darcy hotel absolutely met, and exceeded, this expectation! The front desk was so respectful and appropriate during this pandemic time, as well as keeping their cleaning standards above necessary. The room was spacious and I really enjoyed the shower. The view of the city was awesome, and the accessibility to everything was less than 10 minutes. There is a nice restaurant with patio within the building as well. The room was extremely clean, and parking was literally across the street. You are close enough to everything, but out of downtown so there is a bit more privacy. We will be staying here every time we come to DC! Read less

As a nervous traveler I found myself, happy and reassured the moment I arrived at the Darcy front doors. I stayed 4-night stay and wish it was longer. Part of what I found interesting was how I learned about the history of the hotel including details of the recent remodel from a proud staff member. After that I found myself really noticing all the intimate, one of a kind touches the architects and designers had used to create this stylish hotel. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated and modern. I felt like the Darcy with its central location and comfortable feel was great value for the cost. My stay coincided with the phase 2 opening, including necessary maid service/front desk interactions changes handled with care allowing me to feel safe. As I was checking out the restaurant opened for lunch, dinner and room service. I am happy to have chosen to stay at the Darcy Hotel DC, supporting a wonderful independent hotel. I hope to be back soon having been treated kindly and professionally by each staff member. Read less

A nicely renovated boutique hotel. High style. Small rooms. Tiny, but exceptionally well-designed bathroom. Covid eliminates most of the perks one likes in a nice hotel like this. Desk was very cheerful and helpful -- from 6 feet away. Only pointer: desk should have face masks and sanitizer available for those who have forgotten.

This was an exceptional hotel. It has a lot of character. It is clean. We only stayed for 1 night, however it was everything we needed. The staff is friendly and helpful in navigating the parking and they are very conscientious of COVID-19 procedures. The Darcy took all steps possible to make sure that guests felt safe and secure during their stay, so that meant doing away with a lot of the amenities that they tout during normal times. Though DC was beginning to reopen, I was grateful to see how seriously the hotel was taking health and safety. But that aside, my stay was excellent. We were in town for a special occasion and the staff was warm and friendly and operated with the highest levels of customer service. The room was lovely, the bed divine. I am certainly looking forward to another stay once we have all settled in to our new normal. Read less
