The Darcy, Curio Collection by Hilton

Washington DC, USA

The hotel

The Darcy may look like a distinctly grown-up hotel, dressed in chic mid-century threads and understated tones, but its playful undercurrent’s revealed in bursts of technicolour. And unique Darcy Daypacks give budding mini-travellers five fun ‘missions’ for exploring DC – whether it’s as a ‘Darcy Detective’ at International Spy Museum, or a stargazer with astronaut ice cream. During the warm months, each young adventurer is offered ice cream sandwiches at check in– and you get to enjoy the complimentary cocktail hour (or in-room tipples from your Cocktail Butler), before Siren lures you in with its seductive maritime-themed décor and seafood platters. The Darcy’s complimentary bikes and scooters (and free WiFi for route-planning) make sightseeing simple, although you’re just 10 minutes’ walk from Dupont Circle and the White House. And you can set yourself up for the day with beignets and coffee at its New Orleans-inspired café, Lil’B

very nice hotel and good value in DC. conference room is bright with windows to the street - it's nice to see sunshine when in a meeting all day. Location is good - places to eat nearby and a Whole Foods around the corner - convenient if all you want is a sandwich or salad.

My organization books us at Darcy when we're visiting DC office. So, I've stayed here half a dozen times for 2-5 days each visit. Nice rooms, but lumpy pillows and thin comforters. Also, forget about calling in room requests (e.g. quiet or bright), the last three times these have not shown up in final reservation. Other guests complained about this. The front desk staff are not great, seems high turnover with little experience and not great customer service attitude. Finally, the hotel needs to improve its environmental practices, e.g. all the housekeepers replace towels every day even when guest places them on the drying rack. Also, they use disposable coffee cups instead of providing mugs in the rooms for those who don't need "to go". Read less

From the check-in Michael and the other front desk agent were a pleasure to deal with. The TV in our suite was broken by previous guests, and they not only was able to move us to another room (there was no delay with the check-in) but gave us a food credit to the restaurant and sent a great bottle of wine w/fruits & cheese to the room as a sweet gesture for any inconvenience experienced. The little things really do matter. Both rooms (we did Deluxe King first night & Suite which was originally booked the next two nights) were nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The Suite provides a more, relaxed vibe with the couch & extra chair. The Hotel was clean, the staff helpful, felt safe and an overall great location- was close to Union Station and other restaurants fast food or a bit higher end. The only negative was, we felt ignored at the restaurant by the waitress on our first day, especially since it wasn't crowded. But, we didn't let that ruin our overall experience. I would definitely suggest this hotel as a great place when staying in DC. Read less

Lumpy pillows, no concierge help with reservations or any special occasion in room, and slow slow slow room service, and coffee maker inside the closet where there is no plus close by, makes this a very average experience.
