The Jefferson

Dupont Circle and Embassy Row, Washington DC

The hotel

You can’t stay at the White House – but this five star hotel comes pretty close. And we’re not just talking about its location near DC’s most famous ‘house’. The Jefferson Hotel also has a distinctly ‘Presidential’ air about it. Inspired by the beloved plantation of the third US President, and hotel’s namesake, everything from your guestroom’s drapes, to the ingredients in Petite Spa’s treatments, to the epicurean delights at its Michelin-starred Plume restaurant, has a nod to Thomas Jefferson. Even the hotel’s pet pooch is named after his plantation, ‘Monticello’. Inside its beautiful Beaux Arts wrapping, mod cons like complimentary WiFi mingle with a vast collection of antiques, artworks, and historic documents signed by Jefferson. But the pièce de résistance is the original 1923 skylight, flooding light into The Greenhouse, one of the hotel’s three exclusive dining venues.

One of the best experiences during my business travel. First class facility and staff. The experience was enjoyable and relaxing. All of the staff were focused on the customer's needs. Attended a reception that included tasty and well-prepared hors d'oeurves.

The hotel is in a good location a 10 minute walk from the White House what an elegant hotel this is and our bedroom was spacious and lovely. On arrival to our room we found they had left a card chocolate dipped strawberries sweets and a bottle of bubbly as it was our 25th wedding anniversary it was such a nice touch The staff and service were superb from the doorman offering water when I had been out for a run, the bar staff mixing cocktails, the concierge giving recommendations on places to eat which we tried and found them great. Breakfast in the Greenhouse was delicious We ate the Plume for our 25th wedding anniversary it was my husbands favourite meal of all our American trip as we ate at two Michelin star restaurants in New York A very enjoyable experience Thank you to all the staff Read less

The Jefferson is a beautiful historic hotel that is totally renovated with everything a modern traveler needs. The entire staff were friendly and courteous, even when the Room Service breakfast had to be delivered to our hotel room at 3:00AM to make a very early flight home! Thanks for a lovely stay.
