Location is great, right on the edge of Georgetown, close to the National Mall. Spacious room with very comfortable beds. Great service overall. Their food selection menu is not that big but everything we order tasted great!

Upgraded to a king suite, which, although lacking a dining table and chairs that I thought it said it would have, was as large as an apartment and very comfortable. Staff were good, professional without being too formal. The room was perfectly clean, but the windows, which unfortunately didn’t open, needed washing. Having recently returned from a trip in which we happened to stay in brand-new hotels, the Melrose seemed a little dated. They clearly had redecorated relatively recently, so it was not shabby by any means, but the doors, physical layout and small windows reminded me of the 1980s. The restaurant downstairs was quite good. The bar doesn’t stock Campari. The hotel is reasonably close to the Metro and to Georgetown, maybe a 5-minute walk. And Foggy Bottom is a good station since it’s on three different lines, so you can catch any train to head to many nearby destinations. Also a reasonable walk to the Watergate, Dupont Circle and the Phillips Collection. I thought it was a good value for the money. Read less

We arrived at the hotel on Monday 27th May 2019 on the second leg of a five stop tour of east coast USA. From the moment we stepped out of our cab it was apparent that this was a special place from the greetings we received, first from the door staff, and then as we made our way to reception. The hotel is very grand but has an intimate atmosphere and even though there was a business conference in progress, we didn't feel out of place even as casual tourists. The food was excellent (still can't work out how you make the humble french fry taste so good) whether you are using the restaurant or the in-room service. Our room was excellent, very large and well equipped right down to the universal adaptor which was a work of ergonomic genius in itself! While we were there it was my wife's birthday and not only did the front desk staff recommend and book a table at a nearby restaurant, but they also told the restaurant why we would be visiting which led to a surprise birthday cake at the end of our meal. That would have been more than enough but, when we arrived back, the staff had organised a treat of the very highest for us in our room. The location of the hotel is also excellent with the Georgetown area just a few moments away by cab or within reasonable walking distance. Also it is within walking distance of such sights as The Lincoln Memorial and, if you use the tourist bus loops then the Washington Circle stop is literally only a few yards away. Should you wish to use a cab there is a permanent stand right outside the hotel so there is no wait at all. I can give this hotel the very highest recommendation and would like to thank all the staff for making our three night stay with them so very special.....a BIG thank you from me and my wife Read less

Good Holtel, but it ended up costing much more than advertised. Part of this was probably because of DC hidden taxes on tourist, but I think part was deceptive practice by the hotel itself. I enjoyed the stay until I checked out. Will not go back.

Very pleased with rooms, staff, lobby, library! Just the perfect sized hotel. Wish I had chosen a location closer to our activities, but, for the value and luxury, I couldn’t go wrong! Would totally recommend. Only thing to improve - dining options.
