Gray Wolf Inn at West Yellowstone

Montana, Wild West

The hotel

For most, the location of Gray Wolf Inn & Suites would be enough: just two blocks from the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, you’re minutes from its famous natural attractions. But that didn't stop the owners giving the inn a $1.4 million makeover, with everything from the rooms to the swimming pool getting a facelift. Welcoming guests all year round, so you can see the region in every season, the inn’s spacious rooms and suites are popular with families. The complimentary parking means road trips are easy, although many West Yellowstone highlights are within strolling distance, with Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center just over the road, and Yellowstone Historic Center and Yellowstone IMAX Theatre two blocks away.

Where is it

Nice, clean hotel. You can’t get any closer to the West entrance of Yellowstone. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. Room was spacious, quiet and the bed was comfortable. Only complaint would be check in time is questionable. Went on the website and it said check in is at 15:00 (that’s 3:00 pm right?). But when we went at about 2:50 in… Read more

But when we went at about 2:50 in the afternoon we were told check in is at 4:00. Okay, but you need to fix your website. Also, they said they would call us as soon as our room was ready. Never got a call. Not a big deal, just annoying. Read less

Very nice and clean hotel next to the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center! Enjoyed our stay, staff very friendly and helpful. The town is great, gives you that step back in time feel. My husband swears he heard the wolves howling outside the hotel when he walked in, I was very jealous! Very close to the West gate of Yellowstone and only a few… Read more

LOTS of carbs- granola bars, fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. no eggs or anything. The hotel was pricey, but this is a tourist town so it was in line with other places the location is convenient if visiting Yellowstone National park. Read less

We pulled in last Friday without a reservation and asked availability. 2 rooms left, so that means they can charge a fortune. Being very tired, we booked the King Suite for $400. This hotel is in a good location, however very dated. The windows were dirty and would not open and the furniture very old and the couch smelled like dirt. They used… Read more

This hotel is in a good location, however very dated. The windows were dirty and would not open and the furniture very old and the couch smelled like dirt. They used room deodorizer to try and cover the odors, which made it worse. I literally slept with a mask, so that I could breath. This was day 10 of a driving vacation and this was the only bad stay. Look at your room before booking. Read less

The negatives are the spotty and unreliable WIFI service and the meager continental breakfast that is offered. Breakfast selections consisted of 3 types of cereal, instant oatmeal, and small containers of off brand yogurt. Very disappointing considering the cost of the rooms. Because of these two negatives it is unlikely I would stay there again. Read less
