Holiday Inn at West Yellowstone

Montana, Wild West

The hotel

The Holiday Inn – renowned for its value, quality guest service and amenities – is an ideal base camp from which to explore America’s first national park. A welcome retreat, it boasts a lovely indoor swimming pool to relax in, as well as a hot tub and sauna to soothe tired limbs. The Branch Restaurant & Bar offers ‘open range cuisine’ with beef and game dishes infused with plenty of local flavour plus children’s menus and lunch boxes are available. We also recommend one of the local brews – Moose Drool, Trout Slayer and Old Faithful Pale Ale to name but a few! After dinner, why not head to the Branch Casino, it’s small but perfectly packed with a fun atmosphere.

First, I want to mention that we were at this hotel in "high" season. Second, I want to mention that we thought the cost of this room was nothing less than "price gouging" even if it was "high" season. We paid in July a total of $375.00 for one night. Outrageous! First, I want to mention that we were at this hotel in "high" season. Second, I want to mention that we thought the cost of this room was nothing less than "price gouging" even if it was "high" season. We paid in July a total of $375.00 for one night. Outrageous! We paid the same amount for a room in Manhattan, New York City. At least in New York we got an excellent free breakfast with our visit, it was steps from Penn Central Station, had a roof top bar with a glorious view, and handy to the subway. At the Holiday Inn West Yellowstone, there was no roof-top bar, no glorious view, drove our own car, and they said there was breakfast next door at a 20% discount. Really? For $375.00....no free breakfast? That was the icing on the cake after a long, hot day. Many will say...well, you accepted the price (over the phone) and it was in prime time. I agree, we did: 1.) thinking the other comparable hotels would be booked 2.) the town would be swamped with people searching for rooms. Neither was true by a long shot. It was our assumption error and it cost us. Do your homework and plan (if you can-which we couldn't) way in advance of arrival and search for deals less costly. This was a typical room and facility Holiday Inn offers countrywide, though, I believe, renovated. That said, the following is our observance: Location is excellent for entrance into Yellowstone at the west gate Large room Newly appointed decor and fixtures Window opened Fan in bath great air-conditioning Clean Plenty of parking in front of and in the back of the facility Bathroom on the small side Free ice cream treats in the afternoon Bed comfortable Walking distance to town and restaurants (other than the one next door) gas station near by Read less

Close to everything, a game room with air hockey etc. for kids, nice clean pool area, and huge rooms. Rustic decor. Friendly staff, good restaurant. Everything was great about this hotel and I would recommend it for families.

The boys loved the game room! Every morning we ate breakfast at The Branch. It was very convenient and the food was very good and reasonably priced. A nice feature was being able to charge it to your room. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and offered good recommendations for restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. The Firehole BBQ restaurant was delicious, a must go to if you are in West a Yellowstone! The Slippery Otter was another great restaurant. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Yellowstone. Read less
