Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite

Yosemite National Park, USA

The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. There was a mix up with our reservation but Paul talked to Cindy and she worked it all out for us. Our son got his own room and we got ours as well. Cindy did everything she could to make sure we were happy and Paul recommended and helped us book the Tenaya Lodge Yosemite tour with Amanda. LOVED IT!! The tour bus has a roof they open up during great weather and is all glass even if closed. We could see everything and even our teen son enjoyed the tour!! Yes the bathroom has a barn door that slides closed but we had no issues. Hot shower, big bed, fireplaces in the lobby, close to the park....an upscale lodge for sure. Highly recommend, great service everywhere including Prudence and Katie in the restaurant. THANK YOU for helping this GA family enjoy and much needed vacay. Read less

We booked a pet-friendly room. It was average. The barn style bathroom door did not provide complete privacy (important when traveling with grandkids), and the motion sensor bathroom light was annoying. The barn style bathroom door did not provide complete privacy (important when traveling with grandkids), and the motion sensor bathroom light was annoying. Every time someone gets up in the middle of the night it comes on and stays on for a while. There is no door between the room and the sink area. Our mattresses had a dip in the middle. The floor lamp did not stand up straight and was leaning over, but functioned. There were no dog amenities, bowls or beds, as stated on the website (maybe due to COVID). The lodge itself is lovely and close to Yosemite's entrance. It is a 35 mile drive down to Yosemite Valley. They provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and soap. The mini fridge is tiny. Smaller than some. There was no microwave in our room. We did see other rooms that were much nicer. We got daily texts asking us how our stay was going. We mentioned the lamp and a couple of other issues and were told someone would get back to us shortly, but no one every did. We did call regarding the coffee maker, and someone showed up within 10 mins. There is an arcade and a nice indoor pool that is well heated. Read less

After a year of lockdown we wanted to get away for a long weekend and visit Yosemite National Park. We could not be happier with our choice of getting an explorer cabin at Tenaya! Our adult son and two dogs joined us for a great outdoor adventure. The cabin were very clean and comfortable and the staff was outstanding! We even had a spring snowstorm that dumped 2 feet of snow and the staff dug our car out for us. Because of the pandemic we brought some food with us but we ordered room service from the restaurant and the burgers were incredible! We were somewhat hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews on the restaurant but we found everything to be to very high standards and delicious. We look forward to returning! Read less

Very centrally located, very convenient to Yosemite. We went end of March/early April before Yosemite fully opens up, but it was sunny, warm, and beautiful. I understand the fatigue and how sick of it hotel staff must be, and it's understandable to have a gradient of policy in lower traffic area. But some guy sitting next to me loudly talking into his phone right in front of staff—I had to ask them to have hime mask up. Read less

Our first trip to Tenaya Lodge did not disappoint. Customer service from the get go. A friendly text the day before our arrival welcomed us and asked us if we had any questions which we did and they were very responsive. Requests for extra pillows and blankets were accommodated. Beautiful, clean resort. Food in the restaurant was a little pricey but delicious and generous portions. We had two rooms and they gave us adjoining rooms which was wonderful. Every employee was super nice and helpful. We are looking forward to another trip in the future to take advantage of other services offered outside of COVID. Only things to mention...beds were a little too firm for me, the barn door for bathroom is beautiful but wanted a little more privacy, chlorine smell in the indoor pool area was overwhelming, maybe crack a window upstairs. Also would be nice to have a microwave in the room to heat up leftovers from the restaurant. Read less
