Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite

Yosemite National Park, USA

The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. My family stayed here before heading to Yosemite the next day. It is absolutely not worth the price tag. The rooms and hallways are worn and dated. The buildings smell old and musty. My family stayed here before heading to Yosemite the next day. It is absolutely not worth the price tag. The rooms and hallways are worn and dated. The buildings smell old and musty. The carpet appears to need a serious cleaning and I'm thankful that we had flip flops to wear in our room. It was hot and the fan in our room did not work well to keep the room at a constant temperature and it was either blazing hot or freezing cold throughout the night. We did not sleep well. The check in process was extremely slow and painful. There was only one person at the check in desk with four people waiting in line. My total time for check in was a little over 30 minutes. We also booked a special room and received none of the amenities that we paid for in booking the reservation. The hotel was packed with guests and the staff was minimal. Many hotel activities were open extremely limited hours or canceled. The food at the restaurant was over priced and low quality, but we had an idea about this going in based on poor reviews. Do not waste your money. I will not make this mistake again. Read less

Pros: Friendly staff ready to help. Many family friendly activities like hiking, biking, and archery. Very clean. Very close to the Yosemite entrance. We loved having a small refrigerator and microwave too. Grounds were absolutely beautiful with all the flowers! We loved having a small refrigerator and microwave too. Grounds were absolutely beautiful with all the flowers! Cons: my only concern was that our first morning here a landscaper woke us up with a very loud weeding machine right outside our cabin window. This went in for about 40 minutes which made it hard to fall back asleep. Other than that it was great. Read less

We chose stay in the Tenaya lodge because of the proximity to Yosemite . It’s about a 10 minute drive to the south entrance. The hotel has plenty to offer for everyone. My wife and 2 kids ( 3 & 6) had fun just being at the hotel. We enjoyed the pool, the boys jumped back and forth from the kiddy pool to the big pool. The indoor pool was closed, so we didn’t get to enjoy that. We also spent time in the game room, they had foosball, air hockey and a pool table. We got a room in the main lodge building. A deluxe room with two queens. Mostly everything was fine for what we wanted, all we really needed were beds to sleep in. The only complaint I have is that AC in the room wasn’t working very well. It was 100 degrees in fish camp for our entire stay and not having a fully functioning AC really made our sleeping uncomfortable. Overall, we would definitely stay here again. Other than the AC, we were happy with our stay. Read less

It used to be an upscale hotel, it is not anymore, not even close. It is 3am, A/C is broken, 81 degrees in the room, both of us cannot get any sleep so I thought I would post a note to fellow travelers. DO NOT COME. It does not look like hotel is looked after, management seems to be cashing in on former reputation, you will be paying $45+ per… Read more

It does not look like hotel is looked after, management seems to be cashing in on former reputation, you will be paying $45+ per dish for microwave quality dinner at the only food joint available and, basically, there is not much you can do, you are trapped. We used to stay here from time to time but since our last stay about 3 years ago hotel has turned into something that any reasonable person should avoid, not to mention the price tag. Your average motel in the middle of nowhere might be of better quality. Again, try to avoid and cancel your reservation if you have made one. Read less

First of and most important is staying at the upgraded SPA package room you would expect the bed to be comfortable.. it was not! It was like sleeping on the carpeted floor. The pillow were hard also. Next there is the lack of restaurant capacity for the guests. There isn't enough just the Jackolope and BBQ Lodge which charges are high for what you get. Something that I found por, was the pool area. There wasn't enough seating by the pool for guests, yet they had a separate fenced of area with pool, spa and cabana that was able for rent at $75 for two hours. Not quite sure what clientele they are looking for. The last thing that annoyed me was upon check out was the the hotel staff would not honor the either senior or AAA discount that is on their website for %10. I explained that to the person in charge and said that had to be shown prior to arrival when in print it clearly chows you must show proof of age or AAA membership. I finally got her to honor the discount but wonder how many people need to know this when checking in> Other than those problems it is perfectly situated for a very short drive to see the Giant Sequoia's The hotel is trying to come back after the problem with COVID and I tried to cut them some slack. PS the parking is terrible as they are doing asphalt resurfacing. Read less
