The hotel

Tenaya Lodge’s setting takes some beating — bordering the Sierra National Forest and set on 75 stunning acres, it’s surrounded by nature. The hotel has plenty of activities, including a choice of trails and a guided walk to a hidden waterfall. Grab your hiking boots, or maybe a mountain bike, and head out to explore. At the end of the day, take a dip in the outdoor pool, get a s’mores kit and sit around the outdoor fire pits, or grab your torch and head out on a night hike. After all that activity, you’re likely to sleep well tonight.

We stayed in a cottage, which means a small hotel room in a separate building. The room is small but has high ceilings and a fireplace. the bathroom is small with limited counter space. We liked that the room was away from the lodge, the walk is short so not an issue. The main challenge we had is that the food is terrible. For the first time in my… Read more

We liked that the room was away from the lodge, the walk is short so not an issue. The main challenge we had is that the food is terrible. For the first time in my life I sent back an entree because it was inedible. The kids options are not much better. Mac and cheese is straight out of a box and was served cold. We didn’t come for the food, but it was disappointing. The outdoor pool is lovely and there are two hot tubs. Read less

We stayed as part of our honeymoon this month in one of their spa suites. Sadly the 'spa' experience was non-existent as all but one of the jets in our tub were broken. We contacted reception but nobody came back to us. Our room was also not made up. For the significant cost, we expected better and mas as well have had a standard room for a… Read more

For the significant cost, we expected better and mas as well have had a standard room for a third of the overall price. The food options are limited and costly as well. We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Tenaya Lodge! This was our first time visiting Yosemite and we already can't wait to come back. This felt like a great base for our trip - just a 5 minute drive from the entrance to Yosemite National Park and 1 hours drive to the main Curry Village. We didn't mind this at all, the drive is beautiful plus it was nice to come back to a relaxing hotel and pool after a day of hiking, you really do get the best of both worlds here! There's also the option to do your laundry for free which was great and a huge help. Food was good, we ate in the main restaurant twice and the pizza restaurant once. On our last night there was some live music in the main entrance lobby which we sat down to enjoy, a perfect way to end our stay. We didn't want to leave, this really is a beautiful place. Read less

This hotel, or should I say mini resort was amazing. The staff greeted us with an amazing explanation right as we were checking in, letting me know this would be a good trip. The restaurants at the hotel were very good, not exceptional, but definitely not bad either. If you were taking a trip to Yosemite with a family, this is the hotel to be at!

I reserved the [exorbitantly priced] rooms over the phone and when we all checked in, I was told by the front desk that they would cancel the charges on my cc and charge each of my siblings. I reserved the [exorbitantly priced] rooms over the phone and when we all checked in, I was told by the front desk that they would cancel the charges on my cc and charge each of my siblings. Not only did that NOT happen, they charged my card AND my siblings’ cards and in one instance they charged my card twice…and I’m now dealing with the hassle of disputing the charges. The once nice restaurant has turned into a cafeteria-like venue. The night we were there, there was no dinner service – just a buffet. I called in advance and asked if everything was open and was assured it was. I have no issue with spending good money for a decent experience when traveling. If you’re looking to be over-billed for accommodation with mediocre F&B and only a few creature comforts, the Tenaya is for you. Read less
