Westmark Anchorage Hotel

Anchorage, Alaska

The hotel

When it’s all about the destination, a stay at Westmark Anchorage Hotel delivers. Anchored in downtown, it’s right by the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts, and a simple stroll from 5th Avenue Mall and Anchorage Museum. But it’s not just the ‘nearby’ sights you get to enjoy when you stay here — every guestroom has a private balcony with views either down to the buzzing city scene or out to the Chugach Mountains or Cook Inlet. The tour desk is open all summer to set you up with action-packed adventures like flight-seeing over glaciers and cruising along fjords, or taking more gentle trolley tours around Anchorage. Of course, it’s not just about what’s outside, so inside you get complimentary WiFi access, a gym, Alaskan dining — think ‘reindeer burgers’ — at Solstice Bar & Grill, and pastries and Starbucks® at the espresso bar.

Coming off a Neptune Suite on the Noordam, the Holland America-owned Westmark is quite the comedown. The view is lovely, but after a week of luxury hotels before the cruise and the VIP treatment on it, a frills-free hotel feels low rent. No safe in the room is the most glaring omission, but I miss my turndown service chocolate. I've been spoiled… Read more

Great location and very nice room. We were on the 14th floor and our room was spacious and well appointed. The breakfast at the restaurant was excellent. We had the prime rib breakfast. The drinks at the bar were great as well. Barbara who took care of loading the buses was great. We had drinks at the Brewhouse across the street, which were… Read more

I love staying here, everything you need at one location it is convenient due to being downtown. The food is good, friendly staff and Raul is an amazing manager, attentive and very hands on. I will stay here again and again.

Stayed one night here, don’t be fooled by the minimal lobby renovation photos. The place is dirty and unkempt, we complained to Holland America corporate, they should be ashamed to put their name on a hotel like this for cruise passengers. The place is dirty and unkempt, we complained to Holland America corporate, they should be ashamed to put their name on a hotel like this for cruise passengers. It’s an old derelict building, they put fresh carpet and bedding in the rooms and are calling it renovated, the one in Fairbanks Westmark is pretty much the same low standard. All the main common areas are dirty, carpets and wallpaper have stains, tv remote was filthy, used a tissue to turn on the tv. The shower curtain appears stained with blood, they have the 1950’s furniture still in the rooms, the wood veneer peeling off. This hotel is a real looker, don’t waste your money. Read less

They said they would call me back and never did. 4 hours later they never called back so I finally did. Got my room. Made me pay 20$ for the advertised 15$… Read more

They said they would call me back and never did. 4 hours later they never called back so I finally did. Got my room. Made me pay 20$ for the advertised 15$ parking. Fan in the bathroom didn’t work so the new girlfriend could here me taking a dump. Then it it was her turn. Same problem it was very romantic. I’ve seen bigger TVs in the guest bedroom of double wide trailers and with better quality picture of 7 channels they have. Pay the money for captain cook or save the money for someplace else.
