Blue Waters

Antigua, Caribbean

The hotel

This is a truly superb recently refreshed hotel with elegant surroundings, outstanding service and an enviable location on two white sand beaches lapped by gentle aqua waves, epitomising the Caribbean fantasy. The 17 tropical acres of gardens are beautifully tended and each of the buildings is romantically draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea — just adding to the delightful ambience. There's plenty to do during the day and you'll no doubt be tempted on to the beach by one of a generous array of water sports. Tennis and table tennis are popular and there's an 18-hole golf course 5 minutes away. Wind down in the evening (if you haven't done so already!) with a delicious coconut crush — liberally splashed with local rum — while you watch pelicans dive and swoop for their meals. Your dinner can be taken at one of the hotel's gourmet restaurants, complimented with an excellent Claret from the wine list. An amazing holiday experience.

Blue Waters you got it right! There is just something special about this place that keeps me coming back every time. The staff are friendly and nothing is to much to ask for. Jason & Jessie (new) were super stars making this stay in particular unforgettable. I look forward to seeing them next time. Before I could ask for anything it would magically appear which is what stood out on this trip. Saron (supervisor) was so sweet and caring. Jasper and Cameran (F&B Managers) were visible at ALL meal periods interacting with guest and ensuring service was smooth and enjoyable. It was as if they never left. This speaks to the management team who, might I add, was visible the entire stay. Kevin the GM not only greeted us on arrival but checked in with us several times during our stay and could be seen around the property daily. This is something which I think is dwindling at other hotels but quite the opposite at Blue Waters. I can’t even begin to express the cleanliness of my room which exceeded my high expectations. Everything was spotless and in its place on arrival and well maintained throughout. I never meet my housekeeper but I wish I did. Blue Waters you got it right! This place is paradise , service, food and surroundings are second to none. The staff are also excellent with the General Manager Kevin walking around daily chatting to all the guests. Cameron in the F and B department was always on hand checking the service and food quality. We booked a private Bbq on the beach which was well organised and fantastic food. The cove suite was well positioned and nicely maintained twice a day by housekeeping. We travel a lot and this place will not disappoint. See you soon Blue Waters! Read less

Having booked to come here about 12 months ago, we had pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact it would have to be postponed. But we struck lucky having booked Antigua as one of the places which remains on the UK travel corridor list. Despite a bit of trepidation about travelling at the moment, it all turned out to be very straightforward. The level of precautions taken at St John’s airport was extremely reassuring. It did mean a delay getting out of the airport by about an hour after landing, but that’s because they were checking temperatures, checking COVID-19 test results and doing some health screening questions. Basically, everything they don't seem to bother with in the UK! It was so well organised and very impressive. Arriving at the stunning Blue Waters was like stepping into paradise. This was our fifth stay at the hotel and without a doubt the best. They have massively improved the décor and furnishings so it’s much lighter and more contemporary throughout the reception, bar, restaurants and the rooms. You have to wear masks when walking around the resort but not when sat drinking, eating or sunbathing. My only suggestion is they need more signs at the bars and around the resort reminding people to wear masks, because as always, a few people thought the rules didn’t apply to them! We were lucky enough to stay in the Cove Suites which are very luxurious. Spacious open plan suites with a gigantic comfy bed and a lounge area complete with balcony and breath-taking sea views. There is a mini bar fully stocked each day and because we had been before we had a complimentary bottle of fizz chilled and waiting for us to welcome us back. Lovely touch. The suites also have a walk-in wardrobe area which is great for hanging long dresses and keeping everything tucked out of the way. Due to the resort being quite quiet, as they had only opened a day before we arrived, they did not open all of the restaurants whilst we were there. They alternated evening meals between The Palms, which is the main restaurant and The Cove which is the premium restaurant. They also opened Carolyn’s beach bar one evening for a Tapas night which was a nice change. Breakfast, which in normal times would have been a buffet, was ordered from a menu instead. There were no buffet meals at all, just all a'la carte which I really preferred to previous visits. The food quality was the best we have experienced in all our visits. We particularly liked the addition of Carolyn’s bar for lunch with the most amazing flatbread pizzas! Having been before we have got to know many of the staff over the years, so it was great to see some familiar friendly faces back like Pearl and Tremaine, both of whom we love. I have to confess I was a little sad not to see Andre back at the hotel as he has always been a personal favourite and so amazing with the guests. But it was also great to see lots of young, enthusiastic new staff at the resort and in particular Liam, Tario and Jamoy were stand outs for us. Due to COVID-19 the resort is limited in what they can put on entertainment wise, but they still had a steel band on for Tapas night and a jazz band on in The Cove which was nice. Generally, we made our own entertainment! We did also do a group rum tasting session with Tario and a wine tasting evening with Jasper, both of whom were great fun and we learnt a lot from two very knowledgeable experts. They are also holding a sundowner cocktail event each night at Veronica's bar with a cocktail of the day and delicious food platters. During our stay we went out a few times. We hired a catamaran for a day and went out snorkelling and exploring the small beaches around the Island. If there is a group of you then hiring your own boat from Catamaran Sailing Antigua is a great alternative to paying for the busy tourist options like the Wadadli Cat. We had our own boat, 8 hours of sailing with food and drink included and it was amazing. We also headed out for dinner one night to the stunning Sheer Rocks restaurant, remarkable setting with food to match. We had an absolutely amazing holiday and felt very safe the whole time we were there both in and out of the resort. If you need some winter sun then this is the place to go. Read less

Having just got home from a 1 week Holiday with my wife at Blue Waters I just want to pass on how good this Hotel is. With all the problems with the Pandemic having lost a cruise 2 single weeks in Spain and a 2 week holiday in Dominican. On the 1st October I booked a 1 week holiday to Blue Waters with Kenwood Travel London. Flew out from Gatwick on Saturday the 10th after getting through the paperwork checks we just got a taxi to the Hotel from the Airport 20$ no waiting. On arrival we were checked in sat in the reception area a nice cocktail. We were then taken to room 112 what can I say we were on the first floor the views were stunning of the bay we never stopped admiring the views even when we had a couple of rain showers. We were all inclusive and it included the majority of the top shelf and the cocktails. The beer was bottled a local brew and 2 brand names. We had no issues other than a couple of times they were a bit slow. The food because of Covid there is no buffet and everything has to be a la carte incuding breakfast THAT IS THE LAW. You also have to be aware that the Hotel only reopened on the 1st October. Breakfast was usual Smoothies, coffee, tea etc full English and always 6/7 choices. Lunch was at the Front Pool Bar and before we left they were moving it some of the days to the main restraunt. All meals were excellent The room was fabulous fridge was fully stocked Cannot fault the Hotel we will return Read less

We normally visit the Caribbean most years in late January/February, this year we visited Thailand in that slot and our other holidays had all been been cancelled. We decided upon Antigua as Blue Waters had been on our list for sometime and after talking to Lai at Kenwood Travel, we decided to book the Cove suites on an all inclusive basis. Our transition through the Covid screening at the airport and arrival at Blue Waters all went smoothly, our suite was well appointed on the ground floor opening on to a private pool area for the six suites in the building. The beds are particularly comfortable. We were told the hotel was around 20% occupied at the start of our visit as they had only reopened two days before but this increased to around 50% during our stay, so no issue getting sun beds etc. There are several pool/beach areas, so finding a spot to suit was always possible. Clearly a great effort had been taken to ensure all covid measures were adopted and we felt completely safe throughout our stay. Dinner on the first night was at the Cove restaurant and then alternated with the Palm Restaurant thereafter, one night a week dinner was at Carolyn’s consisting of tapas. The clear favourite for us was the Cove Restaurant with the the choice and quality of the food both good. We did not feel the need to opt for any premium drinks, but did have the lobster tail and fillet steak on a number of occasions at a supplement of US$12 each . All of the staff we encountered were excellent, friendly and easy to engage in conversation and always looking to resolve any issues as were the the managment. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and we would certainly return again. The WiFi is excellent throughout the resort including beach and pool areas. The gym is well equipped and in good order. Our departure was equally smooth and journey home slightly unusual with only 31 passengers and 13 crew on a BA Boeing 777, which certainly helped social distancing…… Read less
