Great location right on the beach front (Rodney Bay). Rooms are a little tired and need to be refurbished but really great value and a massive improvement on the food on offer from last year. Really great value for money and the ocean view rooms are absolutely amazing!

I guess it’s all very subjective. I agree it is a beautiful setting and most staff are lovely and friendly. As to the security comment by the previous author, it happened to us and it was due to a lack of security. It was harrowing for my sister and security found it ok to giggle. I will let the photos speak for themselves.

This is a perfect location, everyone we have met has been extremely nice and we are never hungry. Our room is always immaculately clean, the flowers and landscaping are beautiful and there is an awesome place to snorkel, just to left if you’re facing the ocean, by the rocks, at the base of the mountain. After a slight incident on the beach with a local, the security immediately rectified it. We never felt unsafe anywhere we’ve been on the island and look forward to the next five days! I’m really sad they’re closing, but it’s still a fantastic place to visit and they try very hard to make sure you’re having a great time. Read less

Rooms and beds really comfy however cleaner not always the best as they didn't come in for the first 5 days and only after I complained more than a few times, no water left either. Water pressure in rooms not very good so had to call them out a few times. Pool side was like an 18-30 hotel as they let people come in on a day ticket so was extremely noisy and we couldn't get anywhere near the pool bar. Not enough sunbeds for all the guests and even fewer parasols. If you weren't around the pool or beach by 5.30-6.00am then nothing left. Food repetitive and run out in evening of meat being cooked by 8.15 a few times and restaurant open till 9.30. Some Staff couldn't care less which I understand as they were losing their jobs when hotel shuts end of April . Would have gathered gone to another hotel as when items breaking not being replaced so really frustrating as it is in a prime spot and should have catered for the people who were still going on holiday. Spirys etc run out daily, beer flat. Vanessa and Christel were extremely helpful when approached and did as best they could under the circumstances but their hands were tied. Read less

As per the previous review just returned from a week at the Starfish and feel a little compelled to set the record straight if nothing else on behalf of the hard working staff. The more recent reviews are a lot more balanced and mirror our experience more than what we were reading before we left and want to speak as we found it. To be fair some of the issues raised previously may be due to the hotel being stretched and whilst were we there it wasn't full. Following some of the comments we also went prepared with our own Beach Umbrella and Beach Towels, being early risers we were part of the "early crew" but did not leave the beds unattended except for breakfast, lunch etc. Some would put towels on the beds early and then never be there during the day except for a very short time but you can't blame the staff for that. . We did not find any issues with the staff's attitude in fact you could not wish to meet a more courteous group. Yes some of them could come over a little shy and therefore a bit more serious but once you got to know them they are just lovely people. Have to call out Patricia who looked after us in the Monarch Restaurant, Lauven and Ava in the pool bar and the wonderful Christel on reception who sorted out a couple of issues for us (non-Stafish related). Although we have mentioned them by name the rest of the staff were brilliant especially in view of the impending closure of the hotel, In terms of the dining options, drinks etc it was perfectly adequate, we had an ocean view room and having that and the spectacular view of the bay to wake up to more than made up for any minor issues with food or drink or wait times. We always planned to go out and about and we did eat out a few times during the week. As others have said the location is amazing and we'll watch with interest what replaces Starfish and hope that whatever does replace it looks after the staff and they secure new jobs. Thanks to everybody at the Starfish we had a great time for a first visit to St Lucia.. Read less
