The hotel

The Landings’ signature cocktail sums up this deliciously decadent hotel, ‘Sweet Euphoria’. An all villa-suite resort, it delivers unforgettable moments like kicking off your shoes and sinking your feet into the sand at Callaloo Beach Bar & Grill — just one of its many dining options — or soaking up views of its private marina or Rodney Bay as you stretch out on your suite’s terrace. You can spend days letting the world drift by as you relax in its four pools, two hot tubs, sweeping sandy beach, and luxury spa and fitness club, or you can ramp up the energy levels with the range of water sports on offer. Little guests have not been forgotten either — they can create memories of picnic trips to Pigeon Island, sand sculpting, and fishing by the bay at their kids’ club or splash around in the kid's pool. Just remember, Rodney Bay Village is only 10 minutes’ drive away if you can bear to tear yourself from The Landings’ luxury.

My friends and I went to the Landings for a girls trip (April 2024).  My overall summary would be that this is a beautiful property with a wonderful beach and apartment-style villas that would be ideal for families with children. From a food/service/amenities vs. cost perspective I would consider this a 4-star hotel, not a 5-star. We made the most of it and had a wonderful time. For more details: PROS - Beautiful, sandy beach with clear water, very swimmable.  - Staff for the most part was extremely friendly and kind, there were definitely some stand-outs but the people here are quite wonderful, especially as it appears they work long shifts.  - Spacious, clean apartments with full kitchens. We were upgraded to a 3-bedroom suite on an upper level and it was wonderful for our group.  - Located near Rodney Bay, which although it is a bit of a drive from the airport, was a great location and town to be nearby with restaurant options and shopping.  CONS - AI: I would not recommend the all-inclusive package that we purchased. I would consider it more of a food and beverage package, like on a cruise. It was just as expensive as other AI packages I have purchased in the past, but with many exclusions. Any seafood (even just a skewer of shrimp) or steak was an upcharge, among other items (basically, anything good). You could not get bottles of wine included so that you could have some in your room. One afternoon, my friend was made to carry a bottle-worth of wine up to our room in 3 large goblets by herself so that we could have wine in our room, but we were not allowed to take the actual bottle. MAKE IT MAKE SENSE. It felt like nothing but a purposeful inconvenience. There were no snacks available in the room or minibar, and if you ordered food to your room there was a charge. Lastly, since AI was optional you had to wait for a receipt and sign every single time which was slow and annoying. - Food: I am completely perplexed by the reviews here that go on about gourmet food. Again, I would say it is not 5-star level, maybe 4. It is mostly edible, but very buffet-forward and very repetitive, mixed quality levels. The one decent restaurant on site (Callaloo) has a very small menu and is only occasionally open for dinner. My friend who is gluten-free was resigned to eating grilled fish and the same vegetables for most meals unless she wanted to pay the upcharge for shrimp or steak. - Service may be a training issue, it was a weird mix of overly-attentive water-pouring every 2 mins vs. never getting the coffee I asked for at breakfast. Service is always slow and you can expect every meal to take at least an hour or two.  - Resort Layout: this doesn't feel like a typical resort with a main pool area, and bar/lounge areas to use at night. It was very chopped up with the marina in the middle. Pools were scattered and small with no towel or bar service so we stuck to the beach area. Not much food/drink service at the beach or pools, I just saw one person occasionally walking around with a tray.  Net net, I think this hotel is for a specific audience who is not looking for the typical luxury all-inclusive resort experience and is OK leaving the resort for meals. Thanks to the in depth and brilliant review from Clare G below I won’t have to spend too long writing this review. The simplest way to put it is you feel like a burden to the team at The Landings. Breakfast team are shockingly bad and rude, one day we walked to the desk to get breakfast and the woman looked at us, walked away and didn’t come back. Food at the buffet is not good. Beach Bar food is nice but again service is terrible. The setting for the resort is beautiful, the beach and sea are genuinely top class. We booked a two bed with King Bed and Twin beds in second bedroom for our daughter and son. When we arrived it was two x Kings. After trying to get this resolved including being told we never promised you’d get twin beds in the second room (it’s literally on their own website when you book that room) the 4th person we spoke to Cheryl (Head of Housekeeping) resolved it for us, she and her team were really good. So in short, don’t stay here. The vibe from the staff is all wrong and you will not feel welcome. There are some team members who care such as Terry (activities and fitness) but let down by bad leadership and the majority of staff. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Would not recommend - the location itself and villas are beautiful but hotel has major issues esp with all inclusive

We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks over easter we are a group of 3 families on the all inclusive package. My review is Mixed but overall I would not recommend this hotel – the location itself and the villa was absolutely beautiful with stunning views but let down by staff, the management of the hotel and the all inclusive package which is far from all inclusive. Positives Beautiful location with amazing views, beach is lovely, swimming area is great with perfect sea conditions and weather. The villa itself was large, well equipped, clean and the balcony was huge with amazing views. The grounds are also very nice with the marina in the centre. The location is also convenience for pigeon island which you wan walk to but rather inconvenient for the airport which is 2.5 hours away down winding mountain roads. We had a great boat trip with Carnival which was organised by the hotel. Naked Fisherman restaurant nearby was great too. Negatives All these could be solved with better management ALL INCLUSIVE AND CATERING The main negative was the all inclusive as it wasn’t actually all inclusive. We have stayed at various all inclusive resorts including the Caribbean and have never had this issue previously. Firstly you have to sign every time even for water which is annoying (basically to get tips). Secondly the hotel seems desperate to charge you wherever it can and the rules are vague which leaves you feeling embarrassed. For example croissants are free at breakfast but chargeable in the coffee shop, fizzy drinks are free in room in cans but chargeable in coffee shop, cappuccinos are free in coffee shop but we were told everyday they aren’t included in the breakfast buffet although management said they are apparently free with all inclusive but only after you argue with the server everyday for 14 days. Most staff seemed confused by the AI rules as basically it isn't all included. In terms of the food generally the buffets were basic (most nights pizza and pasta) and breakfast particularly was very busy and you had to queue every day for a table and also if you wanted cooked items. In terms of lunch and dinner on menu nights/bookings anything with prawns in was an additional supplement which was frustrating as I don’t eat meat, and most of the nicer items on the menu were at an additional charge. The waiting times for food in the restaurant at lunch and in the evening particularly the Palms was on occasion up to 2 hours. The limitations on all inclusive were so ridiculous that they give a bowl of plantain chips at start of meals we asked for a second bowl one day as my son was late and we’d been waiting a while and were told we would be charged for a second bowl of plantain chips as the second bowl wasn’t AI. Alcohol was limited to own brands eg they had baileys but that was extra so you had to have imitation baileys and many spirits eg aperol were extra. I appreciate in some places items such as champagne or expensive spirits are additional but this seemed to be extreme. The other frustration is that the bar and restaurant seemed to run out of a lot of items that were on the all inclusive menu for example crabcakes, bananas, avocado, oranges, yogurt, museli, lime, mint, passion fruit juice - so many of the cocktails which were on AI weren’t available eg passion fruit martinis every day we were told it was coming the next day. You also do not get any alcoholic drinks in your room – you can order it on room service for extra money but it takes about 45 minutes to arrive. In terms of the catering the non all inclusive pricing is frankly extortionate so not sure what the answer is here other than choose a different hotel A LARGE CONFERENCE The first week the hotel had a large conference which took up most of the hotel so despite the hotel advertising 3 restaurants most nights at least one, sometimes two of these were closed to hotel guests whilst they had private parties for the insurance conference. This was particularly frustrating on our first night when there was a great party with a steel band going on in the main restaurant and we were told we weren’t allowed to enter this as it was private and were instead sent to a restaurant with no atmosphere at all on the other end of the beach. The whole week we felt like we were treated as second class to the conference delegates. We couldn’t even get a table reserved for our large party of 14 as we were told this wasn’t possible whilst meanwhile they organised large tables consistently for the conference delegates. We complained to management and it did improve once the conference left. SWIMMING POOLS The swimming pools are multiple but very small – if you are in a large group of 14 you would take up the entire space so if we wanted to be together it wasn’t really an option to use the pool. ENTERTAINMENT Maybe we should have expected this as the hotel houses residents as well as guests but the hotel is literally completely dead after 9pm. Often we were the only people left in the only bar. The entertainment when it is available which is about 2 nights a week is all finished by 9pm apart from the silent disco which went on til 10. After 9pm the bar was officially open til 11pm but they were basically all packed up from 9, sometimes l the barman just left completely and sometimes agreed to serve us “easy drinks only ie wine or beer”. The only real entertainment was provided for the conference guests but not for hotel guests. When you are on holiday with teens aged 13-24 this is really not the best hotel. The only thing to do in the evening was stay in your room or go to a giant chess board. BEACH ATTENDANTS Again this wasn’t great – you had to reserve a sunbed with a towel by about 8.30 am or risk not getting one. They had corn hole game which my kids love but for the first week despite being promised daily there were no working corn hole bags – these eventually appeared after lots of asking on day 9 of a 14 day trip. My son paid 45 dollars for a water ski lesson which was done in a group of 10 on the grass behind the shack, he went out on the boat for less than 10 minutes and as he didn’t get up in 3 attempts was told the lesson was over which left him upset and confused. This happened to 4 of our party, no one got in the water with them to set them up or instruct them they just got shouted at from someone on the boat and if they couldn’t get up in 3 attempts the lesson was over The most shocking issue on the beach was at one point we heard a woman scream for help – the adults in our party ran over to try to help, I went to the beach guy to ask to radio it in and help and he said “the guests are dealing with it they will let us know if its serious and then we will have a look”! STAFF The exceptions to above were a few staff who really did their best to try to ensure we enjoyed the holiday which we did thanks to the company of our friends and the location and not really due to the hotel. These were Maverick Miguel and Terry who did help us and were always friendly. I have experienced Caribbean hospitality many times and something wasn’t right in this hotel. Most of the staff didn’t seem to want to be there or engage at all and some were rather rude – although that did change some days when a manager appeared on the scene. One night our air con broke and the room was really hot, I told them earlier in the day and someone came out and switched it off and on again, when I complained again we were told it was too late to do anything about it and that was that. At one point we got so frustrated that I messaged the hotel on Instagram and facebook and I am still waiting for a response. Some of our parties met with the manager but only some issues were resolved. Overall if you are a family with smaller children who are basically looking for self catering villa in a beautiful location and no entertainment it maybe be worth it– otherwise I’d definitely pick an alternative hotel as its very expensive to have all these issues to deal with when you are trying to relax on holiday Read less

Just returned from The Landings Resort and Spa and have to say that this was the best vacation I’ve ever been on! Besides the resort and villas being so decadent and the beach and premises being so stunning, the staff are the friendliest and most hospitable people you'd hope to meet while you’re away. Within a few days of our trip, I was acquainted with most of the staff and knew them by name and they knew me by my drink orders and our inside jokes! Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and happy and truly added something uniquely special to this trip. A special thank you to Alice, who works the bar, Alica and Shervelle, who work at one of the restaurants, Mem, who knows how to make the best cocktails you’ll ever try, and Nigel, who makes sure all of your needs for your villa are taken care of, as well as the concierge staff and rest of the resort staff who really care about the quality of your stay. A particularly special thank you to Flavia, who works at one of the restaurants. Flavia is not only professional, but she is very personable and went the extra mile to make our stay truly incredible. She reserved tables for us for dinner, chatted and joked with us, gave us great tips about the area, and even brought us some delicious coconuts from home, which really hit the spot after a busy excursion! Thank you, Flavia! FYI -- I know that a lot of people like to avoid social interactions with people other than their travel companions while they're away, so to anyone who isn't quite as chatty as me, I can reassure you that the staff were all very respectful of resort patrons and their level of "chattiness", so no need to worry about any pressures to engage in conversation if you're more on the quiet side. If you’re thinking of where to go for your next vacation, The Landings Resort and Spa is a can't miss! You swim in the beautiful beach while staring at mountains, are surrounded by gorgeous views, and the villa was perfectly decorated, comfortable, and kept extremely clean by housekeeping (and is true to photos online). Be careful of the mosquitos as St. Lucia is a rainforest island, but the boutique has plenty of reasonably priced items to prevent and treat bug bites. Overall, besides the beauty of the resort and island, the staff really make you feel at home. The Landings far surpassed expectations and we can’t wait to come back! Read less

The beach was wonderful with the most beautiful blue waters and our room was immaculate and had a view of the ocean and a hot tub on our balcony. The beach service was great and I was rarely without food or drink in my hand while laying out. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted with a fruit punch drink and cold lemongrass scented towel when we arrived. Our suite had 3 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. It’s expensive but worth every penny. We were supposed to go to the gros islet Friday night party but we ended up staying at the resort because it was so amazing. I highly recommend this hotel!!
