We started the check-in at the Health desk, where they verify your Safe Hawaii results from your COVID tests from each person in your room. Make sure to get the site open on your phone before arriving to save time. We were at this desk for no more than 3 minutes. The front desk check-in was fast and efficient. They give you many papers to read over about the resort and the safety issues in place. Make sure to ask about the housekeeping procedures, or they will come every 3rd day to clean if you say nothing. We got a golf course/ocean view room that was very nice to watch the golfers, and the whales do their thing. They only had the North Tower open due to occupancy. There were only 2 restaurants open at the time, but others will open up as more people show up. You have some great views for breakfast and dinner. If you want to see the sunset while eating dinner, book your reservation about 30 minutes before sunset. Make sure to book dinner reservations at Browns Beach House as they will fill up. There were no turtles in the beach area this time of year, but there is some great snorkeling in the beach area, so don't forget your snorkel gear. There is a towel shed next to the beach and the pool area, so leave your room towels in the room. Self-parking was plentiful, and the walk from the front desk area is short. Fairmont Gold was closed at the time we went due to low demand. We did Gold last time and really enjoyed it, and it was worth the upgrade with breakfast and snacks throughout the day. Browns Beach Deli offered some good take-out options for breakfast and lunch. The hotel has two desktop computers and printers in their business center, which we used. The grounds are very well kept up as well as the Koi pond. Read less

read some negative reviews about the beach - thought that the beach was lovely, a small protected cove, with snorkeling ample space, food at restaurant was excellent, staff is outstanding, grounds are lovely and well maintained

Fairmont Orchid was our favorite Hawaii resort for years. We expected things to be different this year, likes face masks in hallways, elevators, restaurants and no free snorkeling gear. But the reality was masks required everywhere on hotel grounds, inside and outside, even with no people around. Very limited room service (you have to ask if you want garbage taken out or towels changed more often than once in 3 days). Restaurants inside main building are closed (beachside ones are available). All shops are closed. Half of the hotel that is closer to the beach is closed. No morning yoga classes. No drinking water by the pool or by the beach unless you rent a sunbed for the whole day. And, by the way, upon arrival, your are greeted with yet another tedious covid test paperwork scan instead of lei. All that really takes away from the experience. If I knew all that, I would have rented an airbnb place instead. Hopefully service will get better soon. Read less

Everything from our Philipino waitress to rock at the restaurant and the views were amazing. I loved the fact how serious they are about covid and they don’t nickel and dime you on everything. Great hotel

There is also a wade in pool for toddlers and a nice main pool. There is a torch lighting ceremony at dusk. Read less
