Nice hotel, rooms and the most beautiful nature you can find. Probably the highlight for me was restarting diving after a very long break. Many thanks to Ali for being so patient with us (4 orcs doing anything else than proper diving), he made me feel safe and taken care of. And, of course, many thanks to Salaam who helped my daughter experience scuba diving for the very first time in her life. Really looking forward to coming back. Read less

Staff is ok...could be more friendly. Our waiter at the restaurant (zabair) is always unfriendly, making us feel bad to ask him anything. We didnt like it at all.. The experience at the end was great. Very good price for what is offered. Only unpleasant part is to share the hotel facilities and restaurant with this People from Russia!! What a RUDE People!!! They have no sense of respect other People spaces. I dont know Who is worse...them or the chinese.... The hotel should give them a book to learn how to behave in Society!!!!! Read less

We already had our confirmations when I saw the bad reviews, but some parts are overreacted. We already had our confirmations when I saw the bad reviews, but some parts are overreacted. They indeed burn the garbage, but I wouldn’t call the island polluted at all. in contrary, they take great care to keep the nature clean and tidy. We chose the half board and were satisfied with the choice and quality of the food offered. Drinks, especially the alcoholic drinks are quite expensive - but this is something you would expect in such a location hundreds of miles from the nearest coast. The staff were very friendly - but not very speedy 😎. you need to lower your frequency because on the island nobody is in a hurry. it takes 10+ minutes to get a drink, and over 40 mins if you ask for a meal. Cleanliness: awesome, really nothing to complain about. What we liked best is the great variety of free sport activities offered: volleyball, squash, tennis, table tennis, gym, badminton... etc, and all included in the price. we played volleyball with the local staff each afternoon and we loved it! beautiful and friendly guys. Even though we are certified divers we chose snorkelling only, partly because the sea live is wonderful even with a snorkel (turtles, morays, lobster, sharks) partly because is unreasonably overpriced. Royal island offers a great getaway from the busy world at a good value, I truly recommend you visit them if you can! Read less

Stayed here in January 2021 as did not have many options amidst the COVID pandemic. I can read about the pluses elsewhere (it is still Maldives despite all the minuses). I will tell you the minuses you do not see. 1) The island is surrounded by a stone ring so instead of sea you will see stones on the horizon. This is becomes terrible at low tides. In some places of the island you do not have even space to swim. 2) the hotel has an incinerator for garbage burning. They do it at deep night once a week. Most people do not notice but you will feel and breathe plastic smoke with all toxins. You also swim in the water with all ash. 3) the hotel built ugly concrete columns around the island for no reason 4) the food is average and very overpriced. 5) there are many Russians and this creates disbalance Overall, it is still Maldives with the sun, sea and sand. But at least you understand what you get besides. Read less
