The hotel

An indulgent institution on the island of Barbados, The Crane Resort has been welcoming luxury seeking guests for more than 130 years. The first travellers came for the blush-pink sands below this cliff-edge hotel, soft under their feet and washed by frothy white Caribbean surf. Today you can reach Crane Beach in the hotel's dramatic glass elevator, tucking into Bajan bites and rum punches while you're down there. And, although you still get the grand colonial styling and refined ambience, today's travellers are also rewarded with a cliff-top pool paradise, an historic adults-only pool, luxurious spa treatments, and sophisticated global dining experiences.

So no complaints about the fantastic staff at the resort or the package we booked. But saying that we paid special covid 19 price for one night stay in one bedroom suite with rooftop pool, which was just over £300, full price wouldn't be acceptable for us, as the accommodation wasn't worth that amount in our opinion. Whilst very clean and welcoming, it definitely seen better days and is in need of some updating/tlc to justify the full asking price. Read less

I checked into the crane tonight and it took 45 minutes to get to my room. When I got to my room, I made myself a drink and had the air conditioning turned on. It didn’t work. I looked at my bill afterwards and it was $300 versus $153 online. Very disappointed in the situation here

My family and I just returned from a fabulous 4 day staycation at The Crane. We planned it as a well deserved family break following the stress of managing COVID19 as well my son's recent secondary school entrance exams and it did not disappoint! From the beautiful and peaceful location to the well appointed and tastefully decorated room, The Crane delivered and then some! Having visited previously though I was not surprised as we have always had really enjoyable stays at The Crane and, as usual, my kids (11 and 7 year old boys) didn't want to leave when it was time to check out!😊 This time we booked a one bedroom oceanfront suite rather than our previous 2 bedroom suite but we were very comfortable notwithstanding the smaller space and the pull out sofa-bed was both comfortable and easy to set up. Our room had its own 28 ft pool which the kids had a blast in. It also had the added benefit of limiting how much we needed to leave our room since we basically had everything we needed with our room😊 Healthwise, the resort had full COVID19 protocols in effect in terms of hand sanitising and wearing of masks when in public and also allowed for you to call in your food orders for pick up (which we took full advantage of) so we felt very safe at all times.Besides ordering in we also stocked up on groceries and did some cooking of our own for dinner since we had a fully appoi ted kitchen with stove, oven and a microwave. The Crane is definitely my family's favourite 'home away from home and we all can't wait for our next visit!😊 Read less

The views were also stunning, and we watched the sunrise a few times. I had my birthday dinner at zen restaurant, and that was awesome. The food was great, the staff was helpful and accommodating, and everyone wore masks. The one drawback was the a/c;there was none. The room had no a/c and only had cooling, and considering how hot Barbados is, the one ceiling fan wasn't enough. During the day it was tolerable because we were hardly in the room, and we kept the balcony door open. However, at night it was impossible to keep the door open because of the mosquitoes, so it could be miserable. Perhaps informing us about the cooling situation beforehand would have been better. But other than the heat, and mosquitoes, everything else was perfect. Read less
