The Fairmont Southampton

Bermuda, USA

The hotel

The luxurious Fairmont also boasts the largest guest rooms in Bermuda, making them ideal for those who want a comfortable base in which to unwind. What’s more, each room benefits from its very own balcony, perfect for sitting on at any time of day, admiring the famous pink sands and the stunning sunsets. Set in nearly 100-acres of perfectly manicured garden, dotted with bougainvillea and towering coconut palms, this is truly a sublime setting – and at just 2 hours from New York City, it’s perfect as a twin-centre destination. Relax at the resort pool or pull up a chaise lounge at the sprawling oceanfront beach club, complete with dive centre and tennis courts. Alternatively, a stint at the Willow Stream Spa might be more your style, enjoying an aromatherapy massage perhaps or a mani and pedi. A championship golf course is close by too, the stunning fairways something everyone can enjoy whether you’re an aficionado of the game or not. When it comes to dining at the Fairmont, you’re spoilt for choice, there are plenty of restaurants and cafés to choose from, including the 330 year-old AAA 4-Diamond Waterlot Inn, serving the finest steak and chops alongside treasures from the sea, fine wines and some sinful deserts!

Hello fellow travellers... this is a MUST READ... a bit lengthly but hopefully well informative. Bermuda island is a very nice place to visit and the locals are very friendly. Unfortunately, the Fairmont Southampton is quite an old hotel and not looked after well at all in regards to building material, interior furnishings and decor. My wife and I visited and stayed at the Fairmont Southampton in September 2019 and were provided a room with a defective air conditioner. The following day was moved into another room with yet again a defective air conditioner. Finally offered to move again (and not be upgraded or given any kind of refund or gratuity) but my wife and I did not want to spend our honeymoon vacation continually packing up into yet another suite. I later found out and was told by a Fairmont employee that the air conditioning unit for the entire building was broken down and was broken for several days and they were not telling anybody. Water was dripping slowly and continuously from the ceiling. The drywall was falling down. The hotel maintenance manager even confirmed that the building contained some hazardous asbestos. So along with this and a very rude elderly front desk lady we decided to complain nicely to the manager and even after several emails after our return we found the poor managerial skills of Marie-Berengere Chapoton to be not of any help. It took three days after hurrican Humberto for the hotel staff to clean the patio windows so we could see through them. Dont want to be too picky but to top if off the hotel decided to charge us for the entire minbar when we did not consume any and just looked at the bottles. The hotel months later credited us back for the mini bar overcharge after we noticed. All n all, my wife and I would strongly recommend considering the other Fairmont Hamilton or any other resort on the island. We would strongly recommend the air bnb locations. My wife and I stayed at a local airbnb.ca suite on our first day and it was quite a nice stay and memorable. I will try to post some pics of what I mention above for your reference. Good luck and make sure to check out Flanagan's Irish Pub in Hamilton. - GH Read less

We did enjoy the heated indoor pool at night and the hot tub. Read less

Since my retirement, 5 years ago, we have taken a week away during February to get away from the Pa. weather. Also to celebrate our anniversary. The past 3 years we have gone to Florida. Its crowded and the weather isn't great and expensive. Bermuda, on the other hand is delightful the Fairmont-Southampton resort is fabulous. 9 hole golf course right on the grounds and a private beach within walking , although the shuttle runs back and forth constantly. The public transportation is handy and not expensive, and actually adds to the experience of the vacation. Our concierge; Laverne, was extremely helpful in helping us with our daily trips around Bermuda. We stayed in a King Suite on the 4th. floor. Great view, and very spacious. We highly recommend Bermuda and this Resort. Read less
