The hotel

Offering stunning views of the Boston skyline in a beautiful riverside setting, the Kimpton Marlowe Hotel prides itself on personalised service and exceptional accommodation. There's a whole host of things to see and do in the immediate area but the hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness centre as well as the highly regarded Bambara Restaurant and Bar. A great place to relax, admire river views as you recline in deep-cushioned booths and feast on American brasserie-style cuisine. There's an emphasis on seafood dishes, accompanied, of course, by some very fine wines. Across the street from the hotel are unpaved trails, ideal for jogging, walking, biking and skating - the hotel offers complimentary bikes so grab one and explore. How about the setting, does the water tempt you? If so, there are also kayaks for complimentary use if you fancy paddling your way downstream. Spacious guest rooms are idea for larger groups and families are very well catered for with welcome packs for the kids.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Scam $20 “guest amenity fee”

Beware the scam $20 “guest amenity fee” added in fine print after the headline rate. The room? Good. The. Refrigerator is bare The restaurant? Fine. Noisy but fine. The lobby? Adequate for 4 star The checkin? Sloppy. They could not find the reservation and required me to cancel the 3rd party reservation and book directly with the hotel site.… Read more

It was not a great experience, especially given how expensive the hotel is. On the plus side, the room was spacious and clean (but charmless). On the minus side, all elevators were out of order. There was no sign. Also, the restaurant did not offer room service.

Stopped by Boston for 2 nights on the tail end of our family vacation and was pleasantly surprised with our stay. The self parking instructions are a little tricky initially when you come in (park in the mall garage either on G3 or G1 level that connects to the hotel) but nothing too complicated. Once we parked we never took the car out until we left as we mostly did walking and took rode bikes everywhere. Rooms were clean, the staff at the front desk was very nice and professional (sorry I did not get their names). Definitely ask questions about all the benefits/perks when you check-in as we had to find out on our own and was not explained to us when we checked such as any daily dollars/credit we could use towards drinks/food. Luckily the doormen mentioned to us that we could use the complimentary bikes they offer. Big thanks and shout out to Teddy the doorman who went above and beyond to help us get our bikes and give suggestions on where to ride. He was also kind enough to offer to make the complimentary kayaks available to us when we return even though we ran out of time to take advantage of the perk. Aklilu (the other door man) was also very kind and both always welcomed us and gave the kids bottles of water to take with them. Our first day we walked around Boston/did the Freedom Trail Was probably a good 25-30 min walk to the beginning of the trail in the Boston Common area. Not bad and got to see a lot of cool places. Second and final day we did an amazing bike ride to M.I.T campus then on to Harvard Square to walk around and then rode back along the Charles River straight to the hotel. Was so scenic and an amazing experience for my kids. The bike paths in Cambridge are so family friendly and we were so thankful we could ride everywhere vs walking on a 90 degree hot day. We enjoyed the daily 5-6pm wine happy hour (white/rose/red) they offered. Ben and the other lady pouring drinks were very friendly and great to talk to. They also have morning coffee which was nice to have. We would visit the Dunkin Donuts in the mall for breakfast which is a short walk through the garage that connects the hotel to the mall. We definitely would go back to the Kimpton Marlowe on our next visit. Read less

We loved staying at this Kimpton Marlowe! It was conveniently located in Cambridge just 5 minutes away from the main Downton Boston/North End area. Upon arriving, the gentleman at the front took our bags right away and placed them for us inside. Heidy, at check-in, was SUPER nice and helped accommodate our needs. She went above and beyond during our check in and check out to ensure that we had an excellent and comfortable stay. Our room was super clean, modern, beautiful, bright, and spacious. The room was nice and cool. The beds were SUPER comfortable. There was a fridge. We called down to have coffee machine brought up and they brought it right away. Our view overlooked a beautiful garden and the downtown Boston area. We asked Khalid where we should go for dinner celebrations that night and he kindly offered us a few suggestions that he thought we would like. The hotel is a short walk from downtown and a moderate walk to Harvard Square/Somerville. There is a reserved entrance, so it's super easy to get into Ubers. There's also a CVS/mall closeby in case you need to pick up any items that you need. We went down to the restaurant for brunch one day and we had a great time. The food was amazing; great selection offered. Our server was AMAZING - so nice, so responsive, so attentive (probably one of the best that we had in Boston)- and the overall dining experience was wonderful. There was another woman who helped us on our second day with extending our trip, which was very helpful. Overall: great location (close to Harvard square, go-to spots in Cambridge, and downtown Boston). Walkable. Easy to get an Uber. Close to stores. GREAT rooms (comfortable bed, spacious, bright, cool). Great amenities (coffee maker, fridge, microwave if you need, happy hour, coffee hour in the AM), and super friendly staff (Heidy, Khalid, everyone else at the front desk - sorry didn't catch your names!! -, the servers at the restaurant), and the restaurant too. Definitely recommend! Read less

Love this hotel: great location, staff and property. Friendly, helpful team who are welcoming from the moment you pull in the courtyard. Nice that we can travel with our dogs and be comfortable. Easy access to walk along the river.
