SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, Los Angeles

The hotel

Rolling out the red carpet, SLS Beverly Hills is a world of seductive glamour. And it’s a world conceived by creative minds like Philippe Starck (who designed all the interiors from the perfectly pure Ciel Spa to your guestroom, with its complimentary WiFi), and Chef José Andrés (who’s the force behind all four of its dining experiences). One of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2012, his creations here include SAAM’s 22 course tasting menu, Tres’ fine dining/comfort food fusion, and The Bazaar – a playful space mixing a tapas menu, seductive patisserie, and Starck’s design magic. Just a stroll from Beverly Center and 2 miles from Rodeo Drive, you can even experience Andrés’ culinary creations by the rooftop Altitude Pool, where overflowing pools are surrounded by oversized picture frames capturing views of LA, the ocean, and the Hollywood sign.

I don’t even know where to begin, I previously read reviews on here and canceled our reservation and checked into the W. As emabassador elite members we received a two bedroom suite upgrade however the hotel needed serious upgrades we checked out and switched to the SLS at 3am. Check in was okay at no point was our status acknowledged so just as previous reviews stated the service is very lacking. I was charged for the internet and didn’t receive the 35 dollars per person credit as the marriott stated i’m entitled too. I was told by Martha that they don’t “partcipate” with marriott Bonvoy perks. Since when ? i then contacted the marriott elite group which confirmed they received these perks a week ago. We also were told there were no upgrades available in which i immediately checked online there were 3 were three upgraded rooms available. The best thing was breakfast, the service sucked and so did the room quality. Both days we were awoken early day two housekeeping came by 5 times starting at 9am!!!!and forced entry didn’t even wait until i answered the first day there was loud hammering right above our heads. We have spent over 205 nights in hotels just this year alone and never received the treatment i received at SLS. Wouldn’t return. Also our bathroom faucet was leaking and would wet the entire bathroom floor. Wouldn’t return Read less

Never ever going back to this hotel. Terrible staff. Check-in was at 4pm and we arrived after 7pm after a long day and car ride from Disneyland quite a few hours away. Despite being 3 hours after check-in we were advised that our room wasn’t ready without even an apology or any gift for our inconvenience. The front desk couldn’t even tell us when the room would be ready. We had dinner plans at 8pm but needed to shower first so now our dinner plans have been cancelled. She didn’t even offer us a free dinner in the hotel restaurant. She advised we wait in the spa because she couldn’t even change our room. We head down to the spa where there is nothing much to keep us occupied: it’s a holding area for clients coming in for massages masquerading as a small steam room and couch. We can’t even access all the areas because we need a key fob, and are advised that’s only for guests paying for a service, so if we ever wanted to go upstairs to check in with the front desk it was a whole thing getting back to the spa because we don’t have a key fob and the spa is closed. Cool. We tire of the steam room (not so nice when you’re in desperate need of a shower after Disneyland) and end up napping on the couch like we’re homeless for a few hours. Finally, and at this point it’s night time, we’re advised the room is ready. I politely reiterate to the front desk rep how unacceptable that we’re just now accessing our room hours after check-in and how unhappy we were to have had to cancel our dinner plans and be unable to even access a shower when we’re paying for a hotel. Unmoved, she offers me a $100 restaurant or spa gift card. I have plans all weekend and don’t even have time to spend that. I am Marriott Gold, can she please offer me points (Good God, why hasn’t she offered?!). Sure she says, she’ll give me extra points for my troubles. A month later I check my Marriott app and she never sent the points. Read less

Not ever sure where to start. From the exterior the property is quite lovely. Gives off the luxury vibe. Peel the layers back that things fall apart. Not ever sure where to start. From the exterior the property is quite lovely. Gives off the luxury vibe. Peel the layers back that things fall apart. The Good: The front desk was able to find me a room before check-in. However, at no point did she recognize my Bonvoy status or offer any of the amenities that come with Gold Status. The room wasn't very clean and the carpet is old. It's an aging property. The automatic gratuity on my check (Party of 1) was annoying. Our room was on the 3rd floor, above the hotel entrance and the thumping club music was deafening. These issues were brought up with the desk manager and while he heard what I was saying his response was very textbook like (Thank you for sharing your comments. We want you to have a great stay...blah blah blah). I never felt truly listened to. He certainly dropped the ball on pushing the luxury treatment. I didn't want anything free but if he had simply said "What can I do to make things right?" I likely would have dropped it. Instead I got "I understand you are upset". I never gave the upset vibe in the least. I was disappointed. (Don't put words in my mouth, Sir!) Offering breakfast and a fruit plate was just insulting. My "luxury" experience was anything but. I could go on and on but... I'm actually thinking about switching loyalty programs after many, many years. Aside from being just lackluster, I expected more from the brand and the property talent. I'm traveling soon and I already cancelled by stay at the Bonvoy property. Read less

We stayed and played in L.A. a week ago and our base camp was the SLS Beverly Hills. Husband had Marriott Bonvoy points to use and that made staying here much more affordable. $60 valet parking per day (ouch!) However, staff in every department were great to work with, efficient and attentive. We got a double-upgrade and had a small suite on Level 2 with a garden patio. The slider door did not lock (was a security concern of mine). It was rather dark on the patio and in the room. In fact, the public areas of the hotel are very dark and dimly lit. The bathroom in our suite was awkward with the freestanding tub with the shower head mounted in the middle of the ceiling above the tub. High sides on the tub that had no grip or mat for the slippery bottom made it kind of liability getting in and out of. Do you like looking at yourself all of the time? Well this is the place for you because it has mirrors EVERYWHERE! In the public areas as well as in our room. The decor of this hotel is very eclectic. Tables and chairs in the restaurant where we enjoyed great breakfast for two mornings are not very functional or comfortable. In fact, the decor in this place is quite eclectic to look at and admire, but not very comfortable... at least for the two of us sixty-somethings who are rather young for our age. Read less
