This was our second time staying at the St. Regis NY in many years. The positives are: 1) Great location especially if you are here for shopping. At the corner of 5th and 55th, you're right in the poshest area of 5th Avenue and a few blocks from Central Park to the north and St. Patrick's / Rockefeller Center to the south. 2) The usual high… Read more

At the corner of 5th and 55th, you're right in the poshest area of 5th Avenue and a few blocks from Central Park to the north and St. Patrick's / Rockefeller Center to the south. 2) The usual high standard of St. Regis service - prompt, polite and erring on the side of over-delivering The negatives: 1) As a relatively low and older building in NYC, it's difficult to get any kind of view, even when paying up for a premium outer room. 2) The public areas and rooms are feeling increasingly dated - needs renovation and brightening up. This was a disappointment since our last stay. 3) The great shopping location can be a nightmare in terms of traffic, which was often at a standstill in front of the hotel - we typically walked a few blocks away to get a taxi or Uber We generally like St. Regis hotels but at this price range this wouldn't be our first choice in this general area of Manhattan. Our family arrived to the Saint Regis today. We checked into the room this afternoon. Once my daughter and husband unpacked and began relaxing we heard loud music coming from nearby. We called down multiple times complaining both this afternoon and yet again tonight. No one hears the music other than us, so they say. Tonight 12 am July 30th Music is blasting in our ears blasting through our head board & pillows. We are staying in a junior suite on the 14th floor. Probably close to thousand for one night of a terrible headache. Upon our arrival into the room which was 1pm we heard loud music repeating on the same loop. It’s too late to switch rooms our daughter is asleep. You want us to move? That’s unfair at 12:30 am. Shame on the persons having a party, shame on the hotel management on not resolving this problem. I do not recommend. When I checked with my daughter, I have my drivers license, the front desk blonde women, informed me that needed a phone call from my husband would need to come meet at the front desk or make a phone call proving my husband and I are both staying the room. When the front desk women met my husband she said I do see now there is a Mrs..How awful between the first moments checking in trying to reach a bathroom to the music blasting and my migraine keeping me awake. I do think this hotel deserves zero stars. We won’t go back here to the St. Regis NYC. Read less

I was debating between 4 and 5 - going with 5 due to the FHR upgrade from base room to Astor suite after we indicated we were ok waiting for a room till 430 (didn’t get a callback but when I called a room was available - app showed Madison but in the end got an Astor). Property was nice, food exceptional (we have curry often enough and while $66 is almost highway robbery, the curry here was exceptional, not sure how they made it but we ordered it twice). We had an incident involving room service coming into the wrong room at 1am but got a few fruit bowls the next day to compensate. Minor issues included having 5 butlers over the course of a 2 night stay and not having clarity on food pricing (there were room delivery and set up charges for breakfast, which along with some errors took our bill to $182 vs the $100 that we calculated - eventually it was waived after spending 10 min at checkout to reconcile but that was not ideal). Also ordering shower items via the app didn’t work well - both times it wasn’t delivered although after calling they did deliver. Laundry service was excellent and so was housekeeping. Overall we had a great experience. Read less

We recently completed staying at the St Regis for our honeymoon in NYC and after considering all aspects, it was a very poor experience considering the level of the St. Regis prides itself of having. It’s the very beginning of our trip and we expected a lot when we booked this. The most frustrating issue was the front desk agent Jonathan failing to tell us about the daily destination credit, but instead of just informing us, he gaslighted us by saying we forgot because he has worked here for so long. I can absolutely assure you that is not the case since we arrived at the Hotel at 2PM, our room was not ready until 4:30PM and if you told me I had a credit to the bar… that’s the first place I’m going! After that, we had other issues: 1) Paging the butler, but no one showed up or called back. No greeting by the butler at all. Some reviews say they unpack your clothes? 2) No effort to make our stay above and beyond, we told Jonathan it was our honeymoon and zero recognition of that. For a 5 star resort, even a congratulation note would be nice. Here, no effort to do anything. Even more frustrating he could’ve just sent us to the bar to use our credit…. 3) This one looking back just seems like a money grab so it’s frustrating… as I said earlier we showed up at 2PM but was told our room wasn’t ready until 4PM. We didn’t get a call until late so we returned at 6:30PM. To my surprise our bags weren’t brought up to our room. We had to call to get them to bring it up… just so we can tip the person. I already tipped when we came in, this just seems petty to me. If we handed in the slip during check in, and they know which bags are ours, why wouldn’t the bags be in our room already? Further, since my wife answered the door she didn’t notice one of the bags were missing. I had to go downstairs to the luggage room and find my bag there. When I got there, there were cockroaches. What kind of 5 star resort is this?? I will say Franciely took great care of us. But Jonathan’s attitude and gaslighting along with each department’s failure to deliver (luggage/doorman/etc.) made this resort akin to a motel 6 with the cockroaches running around our luggage.
