The hotel itself is very nice. Rooms are high end and very large. 3 tv's (living room, bedroom and bathroom). The bad is both Priceline and Southwest.com claim your resort fee includes free access to the spa and the fitness facilities. In reality the $50 a night with taxes resort fee includes only the fitness facility (which by the way is much better at the Venetian so walk over there and use theirs even though there are no classes right now due to COVID). The Canyon Ranch Spa on property is fabulous but you have to book a service that costs more than the daily access fee ($75 Mon to Thursday and $100 Friday to Sunday). The resort fee is actually quite silly since it includes free local calls, free wifi (which we never could get to work) and access to pools that were usually closed. (That is a whole different story--we would see people in pools but you had to find the one magic door that was open while several doors were locked and had big signs that said the pool deck was closed.) Beware there are no coffee makers in the room (there is one Starbucks for a whole huge hotel tower so the line is crazy long all the time so if you are looking to break your coffee habit this is the right hotel for you) and the in-room refrigerator is 98% full of mini-bar items for sale. If you move anything they will charge you for the item. We spent 30 minutes on hold to ask where to place our dinner leftovers and no one ever helped us so we went down to the front desk and was told it is $40 to have an empty refrig delivered to the room and we were not allowed to empty out the minibar items. What a waste of 50 minutes of my vacation. My biggest complaint is I called 3 days ahead (and waited on hold over 30 minutes) to ask for a feather free room. When I arrived the reception desk told me that was on my record and they would send someone up to change out the pillows. I asked why that had not been done already and I was told the rooms are not preassigned because the hotel is so large so they can't do that ahead. So here it is midnight (2 am our time) and we are anxious to go to sleep and we had to wait for housekeeping to come take the duvet and pillows off the bed. Plus I didn't sleep well thinking that 10 minutes ago feathers were all over this bed and I will wake up with my eyes 1/2 swollen shut. They really do not understand feather free at all if they think this is how to handle this. Again the rooms are beautiful but they need more staff to answer phones and think about how to be at least as nice as a Holiday Inn with an empty refrig and coffee maker in the room. They also need hand sanitizer stations by the elevators so you can clean your hands. Also don't bother telling them it is your anniversary. They don't seem to care. Also our room never seemed to be cleaned unless we found someone in the hall and specifically asked for it to be cleaned each day. I have waited years to stay at this hotel and I guess we were a bit disappointed. There should be full disclosure on their website so that is why I am writing this review so you know before you booked. Unlike me who booked and then learned all of this. The rooms are lovely. We generally try and stay at the Encore Tower Suites when we visit Vegas. Because of some recent reviews on TripAdvisor where folks have complained about things being stolen from the room and the noise from the club ( even though we never had that experience at Encore), we decided to try the Palazzo and while the overall experience was good for three days, what happened on the last day convinces me to never stay here again. Try skipping to the end if you want to see the problem that causes me to conclude this. First, the rooms are all suites . We were a party of 5 with one kid and booked 2 suites. The check in was quick and the agent proudly told us that they only had suites with lots of room. Then a minute later, when we requested a rollaway, she also said that they couldn't do that because the rooms had no space (What??).. anyway.. there was a sofa bed and they were quick to deliver the towels so problem solved. The suites are older and more dated than Encore and since Palazzo suites are newer than Venetian, I can only imagine that Venetian would be even more dated and dull. That being said, the rooms are spacious, the beds very comfortable. The housekeeping was available 24 hours . The rooms were quiet and the views from the Strip view rooms were good. The elevators were crammed and smoking is allowed at the casino . Room service menu is limited but really good. They have amazing high-end restaurants. Our experience at the CUT was unbelievable but you can always stay elsewhere and just come here for the restaurants. I played at the Encore , Paris and Palazzo and based on that, I feel that you probably have the least odds of winning here but I agree that this could be based on my experience in Vegas over the years and is subjective. Now for the last day, On the day of the checkout, I was walking to the bathroom when a sharp piece of broken glass pierced my foot . I have attached a picture of it and the bloody rug in bathroom . We did not break anything so the assumption is that either this was always there and we just lucked out over three days or maybe this came in accidentally when housekeeping did our room the last evening or during room service. Either way, no one should have to worry about being injured by broken glass in a room in any hotel, and especially not in Vegas and when budget is not a constraint. The worse was the reaction of this property. The front desk informed the security and housekeeping . I told the front desk that I did not want to file a security report or clean my room since we were checking out in an hour and were trying to finish breakfast. I did ask a manager to call me and asked them to make sure they cleaned this room thoroughly before the next guest checked-in. The sad thing is that no one acted as if this was unacceptable. It would have been a nice touch when I spent over five grands here for a Manager to have called me and shown that they cared about these things and this could never happen again . A credit to the stay or some other adjustment would have been a nice touch but was not expected. Instead, they sent the security anyway. They asked me questions and filed a report but wanted me to fill out the paperwork , instead of them writing it based on information provided. They said it was for me but when I asked why it was for my safety when I did not intend to sue anyone and if anyone would do anything with this report , there was no answer. A medic came up and cleaned the wound and put a band-aid that came off 5 minutes later and once again , it was all CYA.. he said it was a small cut and kept asking me if I wanted to go to a hospital and repeating that I had declined the offer to go to a hospital and could change my mind in the future. I mean , you are the damn medic , why don't you tell me if I need to be at a hospital instead of trying to CYA and asking me? Everything doesn't have to be about you instead of the guest. A manager came and said she was sorry and then quickly asked if I was sure I did not break anything , then implied why there was no blood if I was hurt (sure, see the rug in the bathroom as I told her and now the pic). And then she left . The evidence was swiftly removed and no one bothered afterwards. Lastly, checkout seems like being shoved out. I asked for help with luggage, time was 25 mins , luckily the bellman came in 10. When I asked for car to be brought over, I was told that it was only done in person at the Concierge desk. The concierge desk asked me to go to the level under the hotel ( out of sight, out of mind) . Then the valet desk was at the side with no one manning it..and finally, they only do the cars there.. there is yet another desk for getting the luggage that the bellman brought over. It was confusing and unpleasant. To summarize, Vegas has a lot of hotels and plenty of luxury properties. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to stay at a hotel where you cannot trust to be safe in the room or expect the hotel to go above and beyond to take care of you when you do get hurt and instead just try and cover their behinds. The rooms are nothing exceptional, the restaurants are great but you can stay elsewhere and come here and finally, the Casino is nothing special either and in my option , has the worst winning odds anywhere. Stay Away and for those who follow my reviews , this property seems to be affiliated with Inter-Continental so it is the second IHG property and specifically Intercontinental branded property that has lousy customer service . Beautiful resort, spacious suites, customer service was top notch. Take a gondola ride, go shopping, fantastic restaurants. Would stay here again. The decor makes you feel as if your were in Italy, just amazing.
