The staff at Bougainville just can’t do enough to help and whilst I now appreciate all the locals do have a relaxed outlook to life, the team here are so polite and attentive. A huge thanks to the lovely young girls on the front desk - Iowado, Tiami, Rachel (I think) and our man Chris on the beach who took my husband and daughter out on a boat on her birthday! Her day was made extra special by the steel drummer entertainment & lovely lunch service with complimentary birthday cake. Thank you so much for a memorable stay :) Read less

Not a single mark on the walls and all the furniture excellent. The beds were comfortable. Beautiful view across the Atlantic and 4 balconies. The beach was perfect. Not once in 7 days were we unable to get a sun lounger, you could arrive at the beach at 7am or 11am and there would be space. The beach staff will put up umbrellas for you and there are easily accessible towels throughout the day to use. The pool was used less by us but it was gorgeous and in the afternoon it was shaded which made a welcome relief for the children to swim easily without needing rash vests and cream. The hotel layout and bar and shop is all great. Lovely small hotel. Not one you need to get a buggy to get to one section. Easily can put all towels at beach and use pool and beach for the day. Beach lovely to walk along in the morning. Note it is the Atlantic side so therefore big waves some days making it a red flag and no swimming permitted In the sea. On that day we took a taxi to a west coast beach which was completely flat and Carribean sea. But when its a yellow flag caution swimming and paddling with reasonable waves if you are strong to. The restaurant though was easily a favourite. Wonderful staff ! Our baby became quite a star of the week waving at each member of staff and I'm certain it was because they were ALL so friendly and happy to help and go out of their way each day for anything needed. Filling up water regularly at breakfast lunch and dinner. Lots of people eat away from the hotel but we wanted an easy week with the baby and children and the food did not disapoint at all. Though not really caribbean food, it was however excellent and delicious and always so freshly made. We would 100% return and go off for local food to Oistins when the baby is older as you have the full board or other options. The margaritas were brilliant ! Lovely Bajan lemonade freshly made. The Elemis facial at the spa with Janelle was SO relaxing. Great to have a well air conditioned games room the kids liked to visit to cool down away from the sun. Fully recommend this hotel and will certainly be returning in the near future. Read less

The calabash restaurant is great for food and is a fantastic setting and there is deia next door which is also lovely, there is an adult pool with a swim up bar and a kids pool, this isn’t the biggest so can get busy but there is another little pool over at deia which is quieter, the hotel is walking distance down the beach to St Lawrence Gap during the day for restaurants, the beach is lovely although the sea can be a little rough we had a few red flag days , we hired a car and drove around the island the waters are much calmer the higher up the west coast but we would 100% return to bouganvillea! After looking at almost all the hotels on the island we certainly let made the right choice. Read less

This was our second time staying at Bougainvillea and they have upped their game. Everything about this resort was wonderful from the grounds to the beach to the restaurant. The location is perfect as you have a lovely beach with just enough waves to take out a body board if you want or have some calmer waters a few feet away where there is a break wall. You can walk up the beach and into the Gap where there are amazing restaurants and bars. The pool is not big but is perfect for this size resort and there's a separate kids pool. There is also a very nice gym if you want to add some exercise to your vacation as well as a spa that offers amazing massages. We had a room on the ground floor that opened out onto the pool. At first I thought it would be noisy at night but the entertainment ends promptly at 9:30 and we didn't have any issues with noise at all. The restaurant was surprisingly good! We ate 2 dinners there and a couple of breakfasts. The food was great with a menu that changed on a nightly basis. The breakfast buffet was fresh with lots of options. We found all the staff to be friendly and helpful with the small exception of the pool bar staff. We are not demanding people and only visited the bar a couple of times but the different bartenders were not nice at all and we felt like we were putting them out by asking for a drink. We saw this same behavior towards other customers as well. My only suggestion for this resort is to hire bartenders who actually enjoy their jobs or do a good job pretending to like people! We would definitely return to Bougainvillea on our next trip to the beautiful and friendly island of Barbados! Read less

This place is absolutely beautiful. The scenery, the food, the peaceful nature which surrounds the pools, everything is amazing. If I had one thing negative to say it would be that the service in the restaurant is rather slow. This may well be because you need to convert to the Barbados slower pace of life, but it’s definitely something to… Read more

If I had one thing negative to say it would be that the service in the restaurant is rather slow. This may well be because you need to convert to the Barbados slower pace of life, but it’s definitely something to consider if you have hungry children, or are in a hurry. The food in the restaurant however is absolutely perfect. Read less
