The hotel

At Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, it's time for the outdoor life, Disney style! Both parents and children alike will love staying in the very comfortable rustic-style cabins, surrounded by serene forest. Reminiscent of log dwellings from the pioneer days, special touches include vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a private deck. Fishing, swimming, horseback riding, wagon rides, boating and cycling are just some of the exciting activities on offer. At night, gather round the campfire for a rousing sing-along, followed by a classic Disney film under the stars.

First we have stayed at Fort Wilderness many times over the years however this year it was dissappointing and we will never be back. We had requested the dog loop area we have 2 dogs and were told that would not be a problem but upon arrival was told the 800 loop was closed so we would have to choose another loop. We chose the 700 loop but because this was a down grade and they were busy it would be easier for them if we took the 600 loop. We found the restaurant which supposedly had just been renovated a huge dissappoint. It used to be an excellent place to dine with friendly helpful staff and is now the exact opposite with rude and unfriendly staff. The entire 10 days we stayed were extremely overpriced, with many areas fenced off almost instutional but mostly just not friendly and definitely not the happiest place on earth. Read less

Went to see the Hoop Dee Doo Music Revue dinner and show. It was so awesome, fun, laughing time. The singers are great the show was well done. Dinner is Salad, coleslaw, corn bread, fried chicken , ribs, mash potatoes, mac and cheese and beans all you can eat just tell the server when you do not want anymore or ask him to bring your favorite sides again. Strawberry shortcake for dessert.. Buy your tickets in advance three show times to choose from. IF you ARE NOT staying at the campground you can only get in to the campground 2 hours before your show time. Once inside you can visit the Disney stables of horses there is one upon arrival as you wait the bus to take you into the Settlement (you can not walk in it is way too far). There is another stable close to the restaurant to see the horses as well. great family experience for all. Read less

Awesome place to stay. A little pricey when we stayed in February (prime season). Fireworks every night at 8:00pm lasting 15 t 20 minutes, a lighted boat parade at the beach and a heated swimming pool. Golf cart rental a little pricey but well worth it. Overall a nice place to stay

I spent 12 nights in Loop 1500 (tents and popups) for a working vacation to escape the northern cold in late January/early February. As it turned out, I didn't quite escape the cold (central Florida can be chilly, too), but it was a magical and enjoyable experience. I rented a popup camper from RVShare, which worked out great -- the owner brought it, set it up and then retrieved it at the end of the reservation. Wifi was excellent and during the day, FW was quiet for my workday. I brought a bicycle to get around FW and that worked fine; I didn't feel like I needed a golf cart. Loop 1500 is convenient to Meadows pool and trading post. My only complaint is that the comfort stations could use a refresh -- they were always spotlessly clean -- but they were crowded at times and the shower stalls are really cramped. There's not a lot of space to put belongings when multiple guests are sharing the space. Hot water was iffy at times. Having said that -- compared to comfort stations at typical campgrounds, these are posh. Finally, the atmosphere at FW is so peaceful, relaxed and fun. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to return. Read less

Fun activities like swimming, fishing, lounging in a hot tub, visiting Disney horses, trail rides and a campfire at night. Some nights there is a sing along program with Chip and Dale. If you love camping and you love Disney, you should definitely stay here. Just don't come in September, because the rain and thunderstorms are awful. Read less
