The hotel

Once described as ‘the richest, the most exclusive, the most inaccessible club in the world’, the Club on Jekyll Island used to only welcome America’s wealthiest families and famous socialites, from the Rockefellers to the Vanderbilts. Today, this National Historic Landmark has been turned into the equally grand Jekyll Island Club Hotel, where you get a taste of its Victorian heyday and the highlife, with historic tours, croquet on the lawn, dinner in the Grand Dining Room, and strolls along the beach or in the oak forests where Victorian high society would have taken their constitutionals. It’s not all about the past though, you can enjoy modern pleasures like swimming near the river’s edge, and indulging in anything from high-end dishes to frozen drinks and fast food in the 6 bars and restaurants.

This hotel sits on Jekyll Island, one of the barrier islands along Georgia’s coast, which is home to a State Park; 9 miles of stunning beach; carriage, tram and trolley tours; and outdoor recreation including four golf courses, birdwatching, horse riding, boat trips, geocaching, kayaking, mini golf, tennis, and water sports.

The Resort is just lovely! We have been coming for years! I would encourage management to appear more welcoming and hospitable. As we drive up there was no one to help with our bags, greet us etc. As we came into registration the two young men barely looked up, did not speak until we had said hello, very unwelcoming. The Resort is just lovely! We have been coming for years! I would encourage management to appear more welcoming and hospitable. As we drive up there was no one to help with our bags, greet us etc. As we came into registration the two young men barely looked up, did not speak until we had said hello, very unwelcoming. I do not know what happened to their 2019 type of hospitality where hotel personnel were welcoming, happy to serve and so gracious. We will come back because we love the Club just hoping they can retrieve their hospitality. We had problem with our reservation and I will say finally they worked that out well. Read less

Amenities we wanted were not available (history tour, bike scavenger hunt), although they were advertised, and we were not offered other options or compensated for the misstep. Staff seemed confused. I expected more from such a high class hotel.

Mike at front desk provide superior service. dining staff showed the same level of personal attention. stayed for 2 nites. Highly recommend.

If the Jekyll Island Club were a man, you’d say he was quite comfortable in his own shoes! Service throughout the property was STELLAR!!! I can’t recommend this resort highly enough!

The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The bed was super comfortable and we want those pillows! Loved the ease of the pantry, getting bikes and taking shuttle to beach.
