The hotel

If its peace and serenity you want, you’ve come to the right place! Tucked away in a secluded location in Runaway Bay, the Jewel Paradise Cove is nothing short of idyllic. Strictly for adults only, it’s all-inclusive too, not just of meals, snacks and local drinks, but water sports galore as well — it really doesn't get much better than this. When you’re not playing, relax at Radiant Spa, a sanctuary in every sense of the word. The fitness centre makes an ideal choice for those interested in health and beauty. Accommodation is another treat — all rooms are contemporary with state-of-the-art technology. If you’re on honeymoon, upgrade to a Junior Suite — you’ll enjoy butler service if you do, helping to make your stay even more special. When it comes to dining, there are seven dining experiences to choose from, ranging from the laid-back, pool-side Aquamarina to the highly romantic Platinum, where you can feast on Caribbean delights. Enjoy a moonlit stroll after dinner perhaps or head to Bling! — a lively disco bar with tunes to keep you dancing until the early hours.

First off, I will tell you that I was ready to change resorts after my first day but wasn't able to make it work and Jewels started rub off on me a little better. I will first mention the positives and these were only possible because their individuals. Merrick at the omelet station was fantastic - always smiling and entertaining. Janice, the bartender at the Emerald Lagoon Pool was fantastic as well. She truly appreciated you sharing your time with her. Other people that were good was all of the activity staff as they were always smiling and joking with us. The final person was the young man at the Jerk Stand. He was great to talk too and his food was amazing. Now the negatives. The resort is definitely run down, nothing that coat of fresh point wouldn't solve. The room was nice, but also had a terribly leaking tub as well as a few cockroaches. The resort would routinely lose power two or three times a day. The food was average at best, with the evening meals being the biggest disappointment. The resort ran out of alcohol one day for a period of 4 to 6 hours. And the drinks made by the main pool bartenders were so inconsistent. And some of them didn't even know how to make some of the drinks. No bananas for a Banana Monkey, no mint for a Mojito and when I asked about that - they said we don't make them that way. Really? Some of the bartenders were plain rude and made us feel unwelcome, which I felt was the worst part as we love to interact with the bartenders at all the other resorts we've been too. Will I go back or suggest this resort to others? No. But I want to again thank some of the staff that salvaged some of my trip! Read less

This resort is a 10 out of 10 if you take the beach out of it. More on that later. The staff at this resort? 15 out of 10. Been to 7 different resorts in Jamaica over the last 20 years and this place is #1 for all staff. Bartenders, servers, house keeping, grounds keepers, and entertainment committee are the best people ever! The staff over and above make this one of the best resorts on the island Bars/pools 3 pools all with swim up bars. 1 very fun, active pool with volleyball and of course Janice the Bartender so much fun and energy. Second pool is on main deck, music, all the activities are going on lots of fun and energy and great drinks from the crew. The last pool is by the beach grill also a swim up bar. Very more relaxed, has a swim up bar, along the ocean. Lots of sun and very more laid back and relaxing. Also very great place to hang out. Food Very good restaurant options food over all very good but not exceptional. Lots of local flavor, some traditional American foods ( pizza, burgers, Mac and cheese) was there for a week and never went Hungary and usually over ate. Great fresh fruit, amazing fresh fish, jerk chicken, and of course the home made breads and pastry’s. Activities. Lots to do, always something going on if you want or just relax with a bob marly drink in your lounger. The activities crew are amazing, not pushy but always checking in to see if you want to participate or need anything. So maybe fun activities and some that are educational like nature walks, cooking class, mixology. Rooms The rooms are very clean and very well taken care of. Resort is a little older and soon will need some updating but the rooms we had were great. Great showers, comfortable beds and very well cleaned by house keeping each day if you wanted or just a quick hello and some fresh towels. The cleaning staff are the best and do whatever they can to make your stay amazing! Extras. All day grill has amazing food and will work hard to make sure you have a great meal or snack. Coffee shop, again free coffee and food most of the day is amazing. Great coffee made your way fresh cookies and cake and amazing friendly service is a must check out Glass bottom boat ride. Also a must do. I won’t ruin the trip for you but there are a lot of surprise in thru trip that even the seasoned traveler I thought I was saw and did things I have never done on the boat ride. Please make sure you put this on your list of activities while staying here. Ok the beach. They have 2 beaches. Let’s cover the first one called the small beach. Protected area with lots of fish and ocean life that you must check out. If your an experience snorkeler it will be fun for 30mins or so and that will be it. Area too small and not very deap. But if your a first timer this is for you. Shallow, lots of ocean life and smooth water no matter what the daily conditions are. The big beach. Trying to be nice but only negative of this resort. Small area, most of the area is rocky and ruff on your feet, water clarity is terrible so no snorkeling here and water is not nice clean clear ocean water you might be used too. Lots of moss, sea weed and not a place I would hang out much and I love love the beach. Ok this place is amazing and I would recommend to anyone. Just be aware the beach is not what you would think of when going to Jamaica but the resort of the resort more than makes up for it. We just got back on Saturday and we will be back for sure. When you feel like the staff was part of your family while on vacation you know you were in a great place. Thanks to Ryan at the sunset bar, Shannee at the sunken bar, Janice at the volleyball bar, David at the smoothy hut, Fredrick at the jerk hut and merick the omelet king for a fantastic vacation we will never forget! This was our first time visiting Jamaica. The country & people are beautiful! (aside from the obvious disparity in living conditions between the average Jamaican & the resorts) If you’re an American, expect a culture shock when visiting anywhere outside the resort. Paradise Cove is a very nice resort. It’s adult only, which was perfect for us as we’re recent empty nesters. The staff are amazing, very pleasant, & work hard to maintain the grounds & cleanliness. But, keep in mind, this is an older resort- 20+ years old- there is normal wear & tear. There are multiple coats of paint & weathered shingles. We enjoyed the many food options & nightly live entertainment. This resort has character & plenty more years of activity ahead! Read less

Pros: very friendly and helpful staff. This is a smaller adults only resort which offers a low key quieter atmosphere. Very relaxing! Cons: hard beds, limited dining options with not all menu items available. Average quality food
