Golf Holidays

There’s never been a better time to be a golfer. Wherever in the world you want to go, whether you’re looking to golf all holiday or simply dabble with a round or two, there is a gargantuan variety in courses to choose from.

The diverse styles and types of courses available mean that you’re sure to find something that takes your breath away. Whether it’s part of a resort or somewhere close-by, there is often more than one course to try out in each destination, so you don’t have to limit yourself – simply pick an area and indulge.

Many of the courses are set in beautiful natural reserves, blooming with flora and fauna. If you prefer something a little more nautical, there’s a range of courses set beside the ocean, where you’ll find spectacular views and a much-welcome, cooling sea breeze.

Of course, the game isn’t the only thrilling part of a day on the course: the club houses deliver luxury experiences with customer service that’s second to none. Drinks carts regularly make their way across the course serving refreshments, whilst the houses provide a comfortable environment for tucking into a drink (or two) and discussing the day’s antics.

The vast majority of the courses are set in areas that offer more than golf, so whether you’re travelling with companions who want to explore the local area, or want to take a break from the game yourself, you certainly won’t be bored. Whether it’s a beach, a theme park or a city, there are endless activities to enjoy.

Top Tips

  • The Drill

The key to an enjoyable game is to get a prompt start. So it’s a good idea to arrive at the golf course at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tee time. That way, you can enjoy a smooth check-in and get to the bag drop to stow away your belongings. You might even have time to hit some balls on the range. Most courses have superb practice facilities, not to mention on-site shops where you can buy a fantastic range of merchandise. So there’s no excuse for not looking dapper on the course.

  • The Rough

While we know you like a challenging game, the snakes and alligators haven’t been put in the rough on purpose, honest. In fact, the beauty of many US golf courses is they are home to an abundance of wildlife. And that includes a few sharp-toothed critters, which may call the golf course lakes and streams their home. So while you’re free to do a bit of bird watching, take care if you’re set on going into the rough to find that ProV. After all, the plan is to become Tiger Woods, not Bear Grylls.

  • Tees

Most courses have at least 4 and sometimes 5 sets of tees. Check out the card or chat with the Pro staff before you decide to play off the tips – you will have a much better round.

  • Desert Golf

You might not think you need that old 7 iron in the garden shed. But if you are heading out to play desert golf, it might be wise to dig it out. The desert is as hard as concrete, which could put a scratch or two on your most prized irons. Not to mention the prickly cacti, which could put a scratch on you.

  • After Your Round

When you are done showing off your Rory McIlroy skills, staff will clean your clubs and set them up at the bag drop. So don’t forget to tip both the staff who leave your clubs gleaming, plus the clubhouse staff who serve you a refreshing drink after your round.
